Meetings are held at the Wantagh Library, located on Park Avenue, one block west of Wantagh Avenue and one block north of Sunrise Highway. Holiday Greetings The Holiday Season is here. A season for giving, receiving and acknowledging good deeds. Therefore, Robert, the board and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members who contribute to the success and the smooth operation of our club. We appreciate all your help and input. Together we manage to keep our club a well functioning and successful member club within the PFLI framework. We all are very proud of our individual achievements but also see the need to be successful as a group. Our goal is to help everybody achieve their ambitions - which in turn also advances the group. 3 Raptor Shoot At the Teddy Roosevelt Sanctuary For 14 members of our club the photo shoot at the sanctuary was a great success. The weather was great, no bright sunshine. For over 2 hours we had the opportunity to photograph a great variety of raptors at our convenience. Alice, the bird handler, was a very cooperative event coordinator. Not only did she handle the birds very well, she also paced the presentation to our liking. Upon request, she repeated a feeding of a mouse to a red tailed hawk. That should result in some rather interesting photos. Any bet, a 9/27 will be connected to this presentation. After the photo session, we all had a very enjoyable and well deserved lunch at a local restaurant. When the Digital Image Competition was shown I had to scratch my head in wonder. Not that the images were not good, on the contrary, most of them were pretty good. What amazed me was that a couple of them should have scored higher but didn t. Not the judges fault, the maker s fault. The judge, in some cases, couldn t tell where the images started or ended because the image background blended into the screen background. These were not only from the B group. One image was from the Salon group. The judge even mentioned it. The solution is very simple. Put a Stroke around the image.
