43 LEARN ENGLISH WITH SOUTH THAMES COLLEGE 41 Atiqa Javid ESOL I came to the UK from Pakistan three years ago and decided to study ESOL at the College as I spoke little English. I started at entry two and then progressed to entry three and my English improved every day. The teaching methods were easy to follow and made the learning more straightforward. Because my class was full of different nationalities, I learnt about different cultures from my new friends at the same time as improving my English. INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH If you re an international or EU student Work towards respected qualifcations such as IELTS and Cambridge English, and maybe move on to study at university Learn to communicate confidently in all situations Also available as intensive summer courses of four, six or eight weeks The specialist qualifications include IELTS and Cambridge English - like PET, FCE and CAE. Now I have moved on to a BTEC Level 1 Business at South Thames and I am on the Student Council and have even presented to the Mayor as part of a business competition! Eventually I want to be an accountant. If you re not a native English speaker and are studying or working in London for a short time or are settling or live here already we can help with a range of short and longer courses. Our tutors will always assess your level of English and help you onto the course that s right for you. Most courses need an assessment before you enrol. Book online at or call into a campus and speak to Student Services. If you re in the UK on a student visa, you have to study full-time. Our full-time programmes are 15 hours per week
