1 GCSE: TEXTILES Textiles is an exciting and creative course where pupils are encouraged to develop their imaginative style of design through fashion and interiors using textiles and fabrics. Design and make a series of textile products. Use a sewing machine. Dye and print fabric. Develop a variety of decorative techniques. Use CAD/CAM including 2D Design. Be expected to bring fabrics and provide your own specialist related equipment including an apron. Fashion drawing techniques. Environmental issues. A creative, self-motivated person with artistic flair. 40 page written task. Fashion and Clothing Product Design (Textiles) Fashion Design - Interior Design - Theatre set Design Fashion Buyer Interior Furnishing Theatrical costume designer.

2 GCSE: FOOD Food Technology allows students to demonstrate their creativity when making food products as well as to gain an understanding of food science and nutrition. Design and make a variety of food products each week in addition to your major project. Use all kitchen equipment including food processors. Prepare a wide range of dishes both savoury and sweet. Use specialist equipment eg bread maker. Be expected to bring ingredients and provide your own specialist related equipment including an apron. Food Safety and Environmental issues. A creative, self-motivated and organised person. 40 page written task Various professional cooking subjects. Food Technology Food Biotechnology Food Technology Food Hygiene Food Science Dietetics Nutrition Chef Kitchen

3 GCSE: Product Pupils design and make products with creativity and originality, using a range of materials such as paper/card, plastics, wood and metals using a variety of techniques. Design and make a series of products using a variety of materials and techniques in addition to your major project including packaging. Use both hand and machines tools. Experience a wide range of materials: wood, metal, plastics and card. Use specialist equipment eg CNC Laser cutter and 2D Design. Be expected to bring some materials and provide your own specialist related equipment including an apron. Product evolution. Safety and Environmental issues. An imaginative, self-motivated person who can appreciate design of the past but wants to design for the future. 40 page written task Product Design. Graphic Design. 4 DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY: Making Making allows students to design and make products using a range of materials This is not a GCSE course. You will be working with Food, Textiles and Wood. Design and make a series of products using a variety of Food, Textiles and Wood. Use both hand and machines and equipment Experience a wide range of materials/ ingredients. Use specialist equipment eg CNC Laser cutter. Be expected to bring some materials / ingredients and provide your own specialist related equipment including an apron. Drawing techniques. Health and Safety issues. A person who enjoys making but doesn t particularly enjoy writing and is thinking about a job using practical skills. For pupils who are not likely to achieve in Design and Technology at GCSE level. Entry Level Certificate - ELC: 100% practical based tasks With the possibility of other certificates too. Diplomas / Careers with various practical skill based content: Graphics, catering, designing, plumbing, joinery etc. Benefits of ELC Design Technology to Students: through individual and group work.
