1 Marching Band OPA SV will be joining our SOC Champions for Marching Band! The OPA Marching Band is an ensemble that will play in local parades and play selections of music chosen by myself, Mrs. Saller, and the SOC music instructor. Marching Band is intended for 5 th -8 th grades, but any student that already plays a marching instrument is welcome to participate. Marching Band will meet Thursday mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. starting Sept. 21 st. Rehearsals with SOC will be announced as parades approach. Marching Band W2QZY8

2 Pep and Jazz Band OPA SV is starting a hybrid club for more music opportunities! The OPA Pep Band will be an ensemble that will play at OPA sporting events, including football, basketball, and volleyball games. These will be short songs utilizing the instruments learned in class. Pep Band and Jazz Band are intended for 5 th -8 th grades, but any student that already plays an appropriate instrument is welcome to participate. Pep Band and Jazz Band will meet Tuesday mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Pep Band will begin September 12 th. Jazz Band will begin and Pep Band will end immediately following the sports seasons. 3 Honor Choir OPA SV is starting two new choral ensembles for our Champions! The OPA Honor Choir will be singing pieces from musical theater and movies, historically important choral works, and mid-level newer pieces. We will be planning performances in the near future. We will have two separate groups for our Champions this year. There will be an ensemble for TK-4 th grades, and one for 5 th -8 th grades. Starting the week of September 18 th, 5 th -8 th grade Honor Choir will meet Monday mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m., and TK-4 th will meet Wednesday mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. TK-4 th 2WXGXS 5 th -8 th KD72DH

4 String Ensembles OPA SV is starting two clubs for our aspiring string players! The OPA String Ensembles will be two after-school clubs for students who want to play violin, viola, cello, or double bass. We will have both a beginning and an intermediate (Kammermuski) group. Beginning Strings will be open to students of all grades that wish to learn. The intermediate group will be open to all students who have played a string instrument for at least one and a half years. 5 Guitar Club OPA SV is bringing back our most popular club for our Champions! The OPA Guitar Club will learn the building blocks of playing contemporary and popular music, including guitar chords and musical progression. We will also learn some soloing techniques, as well as reading different types of notation for the instrument. Guitar Club is open to all grades and all levels of proficiency. 6 Piano Club OPA SV is starting an exciting new club for our upper grades! Due to increased interest, we are creating a Piano Club where the students can come work on their piano skills and receive one-on-one instruction. Piano Club is open to 5 th 8 th graders of all skill levels. The OPA Piano Club will meet every Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. starting September 18 th. Piano Club VMLDU2
