1 Ignite Band Audition Information Hello Parents! It s time to make preparations for next year s Middle and Upper School Ignite Band! I m looking forward to growing our worship team as we continue building and developing on what the Lord has already begun! Ignite Band Auditions for the school year will be held in the Uptown Auditorium on Monday, May 9, and Tuesday, May 10, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM each day. The following positions are available for Middle School and Upper School Ignite Bands. There will be no more than: 1 drummer 1 bass player 1 acoustic guitar player 1 keyboard player 1 lead electric guitar player 1 rhythm electric guitar player 3 to 4 lead and/or backing vocalists *positions that are listed aren t guaranteed to be filled, respectively. Ignite Auditions: I am bringing in a panel of professional worship leaders, musicians, and pastors that I trust implicitly. Each of them plays music, knows music, and has lead music in their own right. The band will be formed based on the evaluation and opinion of the panel.

2 Audition Preparation: Here is a list of what each student will need to bring to his or her audition: 1 or 2 prepared modern worship selections of his or her choice. Since this is a modern worship program, we really need to hear them audition with a worship piece. Some suggested modern worship artists are: Hillsong United, Passion, Kristian Stanfill, Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, Jesus Culture, Bethel, Liberty Campus Band, Jeremy Riddle, Austin Stone Worship, Vertical Church Band. 3 written paragraphs, one paragraph for each of the following questions: o What does worship mean to me personally? o What personal attributes qualify me to be in Ignite? o What do I do daily to cultivate worship in my daily personal life? Signed audition contract these need to be signed by both parents and students! INSTRUMENTALISTS *Inputs or amps provided respectively. *A keyboard will be provided. *Keyboardists will need to show an ability to play chords and their inversions as well as sustain pedal use and song structure. *Acoustic, electric, and bass guitarists will need to provide their own instruments. *Acoustic and rhythm electric guitarists will need to show a proficiency of rhythm as well as an understanding of using a capo for alternate tuning. *Lead guitar players will need to show an ability to play a lead line from a modern worship song using effects (provided or bring your own) such as overdrive, reverb, and delay. *Bass players will need to show steady rhythm and an understanding of eight note, quarter note, and sixteenth note patterns. *Drummers will have a drum set provided. *Drummers will be required to audition with a metronome. Each participant auditioning for drums will be required to bring his or her own ear buds or headphones and sticks.

3 Additional Information: Vocalists need to know what key works for them for their song and have that in mind when they come in. There will be a guitar or piano for auditions. There will also be an ipod input or CD player if you d like to audition with a pre recorded track. *Please keep in mind that students who audition with musical accompaniment tend to have a stronger audition (rather than those who sing a capella). This year s auditions will be based on a clean slate basis. Past participation in the program does not guarantee placement in this upcoming year s class. Participants in the class should be above reproach. If you have any social media account (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumbler, Snapchat, Vine) you are held to a higher standard. What you post should be above reproach. Participation in Ignite Band will be affected if you post questionable material and statements on your online public profile. Participation in Ignite Band will be affected based on your attitude and behavior during the school term.

5 IGNITE BAND AUDITION CONTRACT By signing the following document I am agreeing to the following: I am auditioning for a position in the Ignite band. My past involvement in the class does not guarantee my position in the class for the season. If there are two or more students well suited for one band position, my past attitude and work ethic in the class (if I was a past Ignite class member) will be heavily considered in any final decisions. If I am a member of the Ignite band I will be leading worship for my peers and therefore will be held to a higher standard in my conduct and attitude at Carmel Christian School.
