1 NAME AUDITION DATE AND TIME San Clemente High School Bel Canto, A Cappella & Madrigals Audition Schedule FOR NEW POTENTIAL STUDENTS: Audition Packet Preliminary auditions will be held after-school on May 9 th -17 th. You are only required to sign up for one 8-minute increment on one of those dates. A sign-up list is outside the choir room the week before auditions(beginning May 2 nd ). Current students will audition during class. Current Choir Students will audition during class between May 9 th and 17 th. MADRIGALS CALL-BACKS: Callback Day 1-Wednesday, May 18 th, 3:00-5:00pm Callback Day 2-Thursday, May 19 th, 3:00pm-5:00pm *Please note: To be considered for Madrigals you must make it to Madrigal Callbacks and be present on BOTH days. If called back for the Madrigals choir, please be prepared to sing the call-back audition piece. Copies of this selection will be distributed on the 16th after auditions after school. Please consult the list outside the classroom and pick up all material. If your audition is Monday or Tuesday afternoon, I will give you the materials at the audition if I would like to hear you during the Madrigal callbacks. Audition Process The audition will consist of the following: vocal warm-ups/vocalise, singing a series of ear training exercises, singing of the National Anthem (Only for students interested in Madrigals), and a short interview. 3 SCHS Choir Auditions-3 To Parents I am so pleased that your child is considering auditioning for the San Clemente HS Bel Canto, A Cappella, and/or Madrigal Choirs. These ensembles have a long tradition of excellence and I am confident that they will continue to be first-rate performing ensembles. The selection of the choirs is decided solely by me, the director. In addition to musicianship skills and vocal quality, blend and balance is an integral part of the process. Any accommodations needed should be addressed by you, the parent, or by the student before the audition. Currently, A Cappella and Madrigals are proposing a trip to Seattle in the Spring. The approximate cost for this trip will range from $750-$850 per student. Bel Canto is proposing a trip to San Diego. The approximate cost for this trip will range from $250-$300. There will be enough opportunities to raise the all funds for these trips throughout the school year. If accepted, and pending School Board approval, will you be able to participate on this trip?
