Auditions for the 2014 Awards will be held on Tuesday 23 & Wednesday 24 September only. For full details, see Page 7 The arts centre is a fantastic place to build confidence and meet new people whilst being taught by brilliant teachers and dedicated staff. I am very pleased I am a member and I am looking forward to my next two years being a part of it. 2013/14 Users Survey Welcome to the Student Guide to the Arts, where you can find everything you need to know about how to take part in our activities, or enjoy the year s performances. ALL ARTS CENTRE ACTIVITIES ARE OPEN TO STUDENTS whatever you are studying, and whether you re an undergraduate or a post graduate, full-time or part-time. Beginners are welcome in most of the weekly classes, and if you are already an experienced potter, artist or musician, there are many opportunities to extend your skills, working with skilled professional teachers. In 2014/15, student membership is 20 for the academic year (whenever you join). Some classes have materials costs as well. For pottery and painting and drawing classes, this is 8, 10 or 12 per term per class, and covers the cost of everything you will need for the classes. The arts centre is where I developed through uni. Without it I d probably not have come out of my shell or met some of the people I now call my best friends. 2013/14 Users Survey University Music Awards are available for talented singers and instrumentalists auditions are held in Week 1, and full details are on page 7. The 2014 Autumn Musical is Jason Robert Brown s PARADE. For more information on the show and how to get involved, see page 10. Booking for weekly classes is open now, and they do fill up quickly. Jason Robert Brown s modern musical tells the true and tragic story of Leo Frank, a Jewish Yankee factory supervisor, falsely accused of murder. Beginners course for SLR camera owners. Set in Marietta, Georgia in 1913, 50 years after the Civil War, the mix of anti Yankee feeling and rife anti-semitism at the time leads to a miscarriage of justice with tragic consequences.
