November reflections: Special Thanks to dear friends of MHC! Just in case you didn't know, a year ago a band approached us to donate themselves to play at our annual MHC benefit concert & silent auction. All they asked for was that our folks please like them on Face Book. Amazing but true, That is all! So then; First of all I would like to say a Big Thank you to The TENNESSEE MAFIA JUG BAND! And second, I hope all who were at the show have liked them and all of our extended MHC family that get this news letter would please do this for them to show appreciation for their generous deed. If we could press a button that said, LOVE them, I sure would! Thanks to the pre-show entertainment by Maria Weir & Eliza Spears and also Byars Adcock & Tate Tater Welch. The tag team double duos captivated the audience. Thanks also to their parents for being so supportive of their music! The kids brought tears to my eyes. It assures me to keep on with this Musical Heritage Center even tho sometimes it's tough. Thanks to Stan Lawrence for leading & encouraging these kids! Other folks that I owe huge thanks to, who made this event possible are: Denise Reagan who helps the Center in countless ways year round; She is a constant thinker with ideas and talent, she's a volunteer, a supportive force for MHC. I also thank (and commend) Trisha Kaberly for sharing her photography talents on a long night of pics (with a knee brace from a recent bad injury!) Trisha has been a volunteer and another constant supporter for MHC. Thanks to Charles Davis for sound engineering and Douglas Curnutte for running the door. Both these guys have volunteered countless times! Special thanks to Kathy Shaw & Jayden Smith-Borne for helping to get the silent auction ready and the rooms together (you two made it easy!) Thanks to our silent auction check out crew, a great team, Hunter Apple & Kelly Briggs. Thanks to those who donated silent auction items, and to everyone that came out or brought goodies to share, and showed support (whether you could come or not). WE DO NEED YOUR SUPPORT and WE APPRECIATE YOU ALL! Plain & simple: Without you; there is no MHC. So whats Next? Read on; this year ends with a more than one big bang!

2 December announcements: Dec 6 Note: So Sorry, our Pickin' Party is cancelled, It just doesn't seem right for a Musical Heritage Center to host a pickin party on Bill Monroe appreciation night at the Station Inn! NO worries, come to our HUGE PICKIN' PARTY ON NY EVE! Dec 13 Drive-thru Bethlehem (Church behind Fiddle & Pick) 6:30-8:00 pm *Turn at the stoplight on Hwy 70 in Pegram; Enter Bethlehem on Hannah Ford Dr (please bring canned food to benefit the Ark) *Then when you leave Drive-Thru Bethlehem, cross over to Christmas in Pegram Park! Dec 14 Students 7 th annual Christmas Holiday Concert (open to public-free) 4:00 Dec 23 EG Smith & The Spontaneous Mountain Boyz Merry bluegrass christmas 7:00 Dec 28 MHC at Fiddle & Pick hosts: N.O.T.S.B.A (Nashville Old-time string band association) 4 th Sunday Jam Free and open to the public to hear some appalachian music! Dec 31 RADIOLA in Concert and Pickin' Party : Come dine with us around 6:00 or 6:30 (bring a dish to share if you like). The band plays one set at 7:00. Lots of Talent will be on this show: Dave & Jan Harvey, Tim May, Brian & Nichole Christianson, featuring Emma Harvey and other folks will make appearances too. RADIOLA plays one set, then after that it's Open Pickin' (and lots of food) to ring in the New Year 2015 (be sure to bring your instrument! see flyer ad) Jan 8, 9, 10 The 3 rd annual Eighth of January Old-Time Music Weekend! YOU MUST SEE the attached 4 Page detailed brochure of instructors, classes, jams, history, dance & song! Learn about America's Great Musical Heritage! Meet & Greet the Old Time Staff concert on Thurs Jan 8 is open to the public for just $5 suggested donation (concert is included for the folks registered for the Jan 9 & 10 Two day workshop). There is an early bird price; also sign up early and be entered in the drawing for a happy pack special prize! 3 Dec 4 Thurs Jazz Night Gypsy & Jazz jam. 7:30-10:30 This jam is an inclusive open forum with in house books provided. Intermediate to advanced level. Regularly Hosted by Tim May or Stan Lawrence. Spectators are welcome & its Free! Please make not that the Jazz night usually meets on the 1 st & 3 rd Thurs each month/call Stan before you drive out. Please text Gretchen if you would like to be on the Jazz night group mail. Say Jazz so I know why you are texting. It has been really fun jamming with celebrities that have a foot in Jazz! NOTE: This is the last Jazz night of the year; Next meet on Jan ! Dec 6 Sat Adult cubs fiddle class near beginner rising to intermediate level with Gretchen (call ) (meeting 2 Saturdays a month year round) 10:30am-12:30pm Sat Irish Session hosted by Gretchen (open & spectators welcome) (meets on the 1 st & 3 rd Sat each month usually 4-6:30 year round) Make NOTE: This is the last Irish session of the year 2014; Gretchen would like to make this our Irish session Christmas Party and adjust the time meeting slightly to meet at 5:00-7:00 bring a dish to share if you like (Beverages on the house). Next Irish sessions are Jan 3 & 17 Dec 7 Sun Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Dec 8 Mon Wacky Toons music readers jam (chords available for rhythm players) Some Old time, Irish & wacky Neo Trad tunes that will inspire you! Hosted by Gretchen & Tim Spectators are welcome. (Meeting on the 2 nd & 4 th Mon each month) Not a slow jam. 7:30-9:30pm NOTE: This is the last Wacky Toons jam of the year! until Jan 12 we return! Dec 9 Tues Jazz Class with Paul Abrams (meets weekly) 7:00-8:30 pm Dec 11 Thurs Slow Jammer's night hosted by Gretchen & Stan 6:00-8:30 pm not always slow come join the fun on this inclusive multi-level all ages jam. Bluegrass Rookies Class with Stan Lawrence (multi-level) meets 7:30-9:30 ; come warm up first w the Slow Jammers! (both groups meet on the 2 nd & 4 th Thurs of each month) NOTE: This is the last Slowjammers and Bluegrass Rookies of the Year; so its our Christmas party of the two groups! It's been a great group all year!

Note; When you leave the drive thru, Stop by Pegram Christmas in the Park is also that same night! Gotta love a little country town! Dec 14 Sun The 7 th Annual Student Christmas Holiday Concert 4:00 pm Note: Students arrive at 1:30 to tune and get seated. Rehearsal starts at 2:00 sharp! After the show there is a potluck reception 5:00 (bring a dish to share if you like) Wear happy holiday colors, but not a hot sweater! Bring your instrument, your music, your music stand and a BIG SMILE! Please invite your friends and family to attend. It is a FREE Concert; any donations are much appreciated to help with expenses. Bring a music stand if you have one. We are low on stands. Possible Pickin' Party on Saturday 17 or 31 ***TBA*** Our pickin' parties are mostly Bluegrass jamming, but sometime an Old time jam or a Jazz jam form a pickin circle. They are also a fundraiser for the Charles E Stuart memorial Fund (Community Bank in Pegram) that pays for kids music lessons that need our help. One of our most treasured events of the year! The Eighth of January Old Time Music Weekend 2015 Jan 8, 9, 10 concerts, workshops, jams, history (hot meals!) Stuart Brothers. Trevor and Travis : Fiddle, Clawhammer Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar Jay Bland : Flat Footing National Champion Alan O'Bryant: Old time Mandolin and a special class on old time tunes on the 5 string bluegrass banjo! Tim May : Guitar & Mandolin Kelsey Wells: Fiddle Lee Cagle: Mountain Dulcimer Tree Reynold & Kevin Mauzy Martin host singing jam. John Hatton: The Clef'd Ear vintage music store on wheels is coming to our event and John will also host some Ukulele workshops and talk about the Ukulele history.
