1 OMSI SUMMER CLASSES Understanding science is essential to understanding our world. OMSI Science Classes challenge kids to investigate, invent, experiment, interpret, theorize, discover, and share what they learn with others. Most importantly kids have fun using their minds. Our instructors have extensive experience working with young people, and most are Oregon or Washington state-certified teachers. Staff members are well-trained in developing kin-focused programming and share a passion for inspiring students to explore, understand and appreciate the wonders of science. Class Locations Oregon Museum of Science and Industry Jesuit High School 1945 SE Water Avenue 9000 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy Portland, Oregon Portland, Oregon Grades K-1 AT THE SEASHORE Dive into oceanography and make waves as we explore how land and water come together at the seashore. We ll take a close-up look at sand and the fascinating variety of seashells that can be found along the Oregon shore and elsewhere. We ll investigate fish, whales and other mysterious creatures of the sea; walk inside a model of a 50-foot whale; and take an exciting field trip to the Stellar Cove exhibit at the Oregon Zoo. DINOMITES Learn about dinosaurs by piecing together dinosaur puzzles and digging for bones like a paleontologist. What colors were dinosaurs? How did they move? Did they care for their young? Discover how scientists figure out the answers. This class includes a field trip to OMSI s Earth Science Hall. KITCHEN CHEMISTRY GRADE K In this edible chemistry adventure, kids will explore science concepts as we make muffins and munch, munch more.
