1 GreenApple Campus Programs STEM + Innovation + Entrepreneurship Why STEM? Science Technology Engineering Math. STEM is the future! Robotics Engineering & Invention RoboKids new This program introduces robotic components and concepts, establishes the building blocks to design, build and program robotic projects. Get to know a Robo. Participants work in small teams and individually on bot projects. RoboKids will utilize Mindstorms, Sphero, and/or Ozobot plus the coding skills to make them work along with other cutting-edge technology. Explore NASA In this Robotics in Engineering program we explore all things NASA, robotics in space and drones. We take the best of NASA Summer of Innovation and supplement it with GreenApple tech. Kids will explore aeronautics, rovers, rockets, robotic arms, moonbuggies and space engineering. Participants utilize robotics and coding along with other cutting-edge technology to explore the world of NASA through robotics. New drones! DestinationMars new In this Challenge based Robotics Lab program innovation and design drive solutions. We explore all things NASA, robotics in space, space exploration and SpaceX Program Descriptions Summer 2018 Mars. We will explore aeronautics, rovers, rockets, robotic arms, space engineering even interplanetary transport & future colonization. Participants utilize Design Thinking along with cutting-edge technology to explore the world of DestinationMars. All elements in the lab are used plus the coding to make them work including robotics, modular electronics, 3D Printer. BattleBots It s BattleBot time! Once the fundamentals of building a BattleBot are mastered, participants can enter the robot building lab to design & program a motorized creature using Mindstorm technology plus the coding to battle their bot. In this program BattleBot builders are challenged even further to build the ultimate battle offense and defense strategy to survive the BattleBot arena. SportBots Are you ready sports fans? Can you create a robot sports star? Design, build and program your robot to compete against other robots and teams. Challenge your bot to perform sport like activities across a variety of terrains, arenas and fields with Mindstorms robotics. Challenge your creativity and thinking skills on this robo playing field. Robotics Tournament new It s Tournament time! In this program Bot builders step up for 5 tournament challenges with different bot architectural, sensor and programming solutions. Tournaments are based on industry, search & rescue and NASA robotic challenges.
2 CanDo Kids CanDo Kids actively engages your child s creative and innovative thinking. Hey mini inventors! Put on your thinking cap to solve problems and challenges through fun invention with all elements in the lab plus the code to make them work. We add ingenuity to create a mix of practical and wacky projects. Modular electronics, ipad, Sphero and/or Ozobot will be used. WizKids WizKids actively engages your child with hands on, problem solving, critical thinking activities designed to develop essential math skills. Building and invention projects finding math all around us. Sphero and/or Ozobot, ipad and modular electronics will be used to introduce coding concepts. Cool Contraptions This invention based STEM program is all about building contraptions, vehicles and machines that move. Gears, beams, pulleys, wheels, axles, pieces that snap and flex. Everything we need to invent cool things that move. Rube Goldberg would be proud! Robotics, motors, Sphero, technic components, modular electronics and Ozobot are used. XTreme Contraptions We take Cool Contraptions to the next level building contraptions with an increased emphasis on STEM invention, mechanisms and motion. Gears, beams, pulleys, wheels, axles, pneumatic motors, robotics and remote controls. This is extreme invention with even more Rube Goldberg. Robotics, motors, Sphero, technic components, modular electronics and Ozobot are used. STEAM Studio new STEM + Art = STEAM. In the STEAM Studio kids will have hands on learning fun in each of the five STEAM disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design and Math. Digital Media Technology Coding KidsCode new Let s learn and use code to create animation or build a game. Code is how we make robotics move and the 3D printer print. Learning to code is part of a movement to expose kids to computer science and the power to build games, apps, and learn new coding tools to craft their vision. Our goal: to help kids learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively, essential skills for life in the 21st century. CodeLab new Let s learn to code then apply what we ve learned! Teach kids computer science fundamentals, computational thinking, and the power to build games and apps, learn coding concepts and tools to craft their vision. We ll talk algorithms, loops, conditionals, events, a debugging challenge and use the power of code to build our game or app. Our goal: to help kids learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively, essential skills for life in the 21st century. MinecraftEdu This updated Education Edition uses the power of Minecraft to promote problem solving and collaboration in an immersive environment. We integrate systems design, coding, computer science, STEM topics and modding concepts. MinecraftEdu is a collaboration of educators and programmers.
3 MinecraftLab new We use the power of Minecraft modding, coding and world building to engage and educate. We integrate coding, computer science, STEM topics, Minecraft modding and coding fundamentals in a game-based learning environment. Design and build mods using forms, wizards, textures, animations, energy systems and tooltips. Take away knowledge of designing and building Minecraft customized mods with code. Minecraft Mods Kids learn JAVA programming as they design and code modifications (mods) to Minecraft including swords, tools, blocks, foods, biomes, achievements, mobs and more that can be played and shared with friends. Kids completing this program will take away: tools to set up the Mod development environment at home, Java project files, instructions to build, package, and share their Mod. Games/Apps with Swift Playgrounds for ipad Swift Playgrounds is an ipad based coding app that makes learning Swift interactive and fun. We will master the Swift coding basics and complete challenges moving up to more advanced topics such as loops, logical operators, conditionals, and debugging, building skills in the 3D world. The critical thinking, design skills, and Swift programming syntax learned gives kids the foundation to create their own apps and games. ios Apps/Games with Swift new Swift is Apple s powerful and intuitive programming language for MacOS and ios. Using Swift, kids learn to create and code an app or game project for the iphone, ipad or web. Discover Apple SDK and Swift, SpriteKit, master tools like Xcode and Interface Builder to access ios features like gyroscope, touchscreen and more. Kids completing this program will take away their application that can be loaded onto an ios device. Mobile GameLab with Unity new We will use the power and flexibility of Unity, a cross-platform game engine development tool for 2D and 3D games. Let s level up to learn mechanics, UI, game objects and components to create awesome 2D or 3D environments, simulations and interactivity, and work with character controllers and levels to create epic first-person and third-person games. Virtual Worlds AR VR AR Augmented Reality We will create an AR or Augmented Reality project using the Unity3D engine, Vuforia, and C#. The AR project created during this program can be played on compatible handheld devices. The application will allow kids to register real-life images, items, or places in their AR project and use virtual images, models, or items to interact with their surrounding environment. Kids can share, continue development, or publish their completed project using stores exporting and submitting procedures. VR Virtual Reality Kids will create a virtual reality project using the Unity3D engine, Google Cardboard VR Headsets and C#. Kids VR projects will import 3D models into Unity3D, create a stereoscopic first-person camera, create and upload detailed
4 textures to enhance the realism of the virtual space, and create custom scenarios based on their own designs. The VR project created during this program can be played on compatible handheld and head-worn devices. Kids can share their VR project, continue development, or publish their completed project using Unity s exporting and uploading procedures GirlsTech GirlsTech is all about empowering girls to confidently imagine, create, lead and achieve. Be the best future innovators we can be! Why GirlsTech? Women make up half of the national workforce, but hold just 25% of the jobs in technical or computing fields according to national research. Let s get girls involved! GirlsTech Code: Let s learn to code! Learn to build games, apps, websites and harness the ability to craft your vision. Our goal: to help girls learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively essential 21st century skills. The Tech component adds the fundamentals of technology in a game-based program. Tech topics include; parts of a computer, how does it work, configuring a network, online identity, and search logic. GirlsTech Maker: In this Lab program innovation and design drive solutions. Programs activities have an emphasis on innovation, the design process, problem solving, prototype & testing through a series of challenge projects. Let s be hands on inventors to design, prototype and create manufactured works. All elements in the lab are used including robotics, microcomputers, electronics, 3D Printer, digital manufacturing carving tools. Lab fee included. and remote controls and learn the essentials of bot design and structure. STEM Lego DM MinecraftWorlds Let s design and build MinecraftWorlds. Explore the creative and survival mode possibilities with forts, castles, shelters, dungeons, resources and Redstone with lots of STEM building challenges. Plan our adventure map in the design and construction of our MinecraftWorld. Let s add a Minecraft coding challenge for fun! GalacticWorlds Let s band together to design and build our mission to Galactic Empire Worlds. Death Stars, space stations, Imperial Pilots, droids, Jedi Knights and STEM challenges are all part of the plan. May the force be with you! Let s add a Sphero robotics coding challenge for fun! SpaceWorlds Do you dream of becoming a space traveler or NASA space engineer? It s out of this world projects and activities all about space. We add rockets, rovers, moonbuggies and STEM space travel challenges as we launch our space themed projects. Digital Media Stop Motion Challenge Projects to share. GirlsTech Robotics: Design and build robotics that race, dance, rise to the challenge of search & rescue, perform stunts that amaze and amuse. We will customize our bots, experiment with sensors
5 FabLab Maker What is ThinkTinkering in the FabLab? It s solution driven STEM, merging physical, digital and Virtual Reality (VR) worlds in the FabLab Maker Space. We will think with our hands; applying lightbulb moment creativity. Ingenious! STEM + Innovation = ThinkTinkering. MakerLab In this Lab program innovation and design drive solutions. Programs activities have an emphasis on innovation, the design process, problem solving, prototype & testing through a series of challenge projects. Let s be hands on inventors to design, prototype and create. All elements in the lab are used plus the coding or CAD to make them work including robotics, microcomputers, modular electronics, and 3D Printer. Full Day. MakerLab.5 Kids are challenged to design and build the fastest, lightest, most maneuverable, and coolest machines in the MakerLab. Programs activities have an emphasis on innovation, the design process, problem solving, prototype & testing through a series of challenge projects. All building elements in the lab are introduced plus the coding or CAD to make them work including robotics, modular electronics and 3D printers. Let s be hands on inventors. Half Day. 3D Print & Modeling In this Lab program innovation and design drive solutions. Kids learn 3D design, CAD coding, and modeling to sculpt, texture and print 3D models. Kids can design multiple models and print one model to take home. Half Day
6 Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurship is for Innovators, inventors, dreamers, doers, leaders, makers you StartUp Lab In the StartUp Lab Summer Incubator, our goal is to inspire the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. In this experiential program kids are inspired to creatively apply technology and business concepts to unlock potential opportunities. In the spirit of innovation StartUp Lab CEOs will set goals, develop their StartUp Big Idea, establish their brand, spread the word, explore funding. We will challenge kids to develop their best pitch and survive the Shark Tank. You re the boss! Ingenuity Challenges to inspire innovative Design Thinking Leadership activities emphasizing communication, teamwork and resilience StartUp Team Activities to foster the power of teamwork and collaboration The Secret to Innovation; Think Like a Kid to develop innovative solutions The Money Game Prototyping and MVP The Pivot Getting the Word Out, Tell our Story The Pitch Shark Tank & Funding BigIdeas The final Friday of each session is team pitch day.
