Catalogue for afterschool programs K-6 Intelligent Integration ii Series 1.0 Welcome to Project Gnosis: Tech Ed Development Centre for afterschool clubs. We are leaders in the Tech Ed industry dedicated to developing quality programs promoting intelligent digital integration for school aged students. Our TechEd programs, called ii Series, have been carefully designed, researched and developed to provide students with the skill set they need to navigate themselves in a world driven by digitization. Our courses are success oriented utilizing a step by step and holistically integrative approach to digital literacy. In an age of digitization, Coding is the new language of the 21st century. At Project Gnosis we know it takes a village to raise a child. Our mission statement: Give a man a fish. Feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for life. What we invest in today up and coming generation, will inevitably determine what tomorrow will bring. Michaela Sorrentino +49 (0) Sami A. Asaker +49 (0)
ii workshop series Objectives and Learning Outcomes for primary Tech Ed (K-Grade 6): Introduce students to Tech Ed using a series of exercises to provide the building blocks students need to develop a strong foundation in technical literacy. The general objectives and learning outcomes of all courses focus on: Building tech vocabulary Visual recognition of hardware components Computer orientation Analytic thinking & logical processing How a computer thinks / identifying computer syntax Development of fine motor skills Problem solving Basic programming concepts; computational thinking Team work / social skills Project management skills The following are success-oriented exercises and courses designed to provide a solid learning outcome as students begin their path towards technical literacy. 3
ii 1.0 Kindergarten ages 5&6 + Memory Developed in house by Project Gnosis, this mix and match card game is a great way to introduce young learners to computer components as well as introduce them to TechEd vocabulary. Memory can be played in groups or as a solitaire game. A sound card embedded into the game makes learning new words fun and easy! Dexterity Vocabulary Hardware orientation Problem solving 4
ii 1.0 Kindergarten ages 5&6 + Light Bot A free online application developed by Armor Games. Easily used on various devices such as smartphones or tablets using an app. It teaches students to understand how a computer thinks through giving a set of instructions which requires the student to achieve a specific goal within a certain number of steps. Strengthens analytic processes important for understanding how a computer thinks and how programming languages work (syntax). Logical thinking Sequencing Overloading Procedures Recursive Loops Conditionals 5
ii 1.0 Kindergarten ages 5&6 + Sequencing (computers and interactive group games) The Sequencing exercise is an in-house program developed by Project Gnosis. Using a drag & drop software, students must find demonstrate an understanding as to the correct order in specific situations. Sequencing is an important fundamental in programming and an excellent way to develop analytic thinking in students. Problem solving Analytic thinking Logic 6
ii 1.0 Kindergarten ages 5&6 + keyboard exercises (*advanced kindergarten) Keyboarding exercises are excellent for students to strengthen and improve their dexterity. Eye hand co-ordination from a young age in Tech Ed is important and helpful given how often we are working with devices that require effective use of a keyboard. In addition this helps tremendously in the development of literacy overall. Small motor skill development Dexterity Number and letter recognition computer proficiency skills. 7

ii 1.0 Grades 1&2 ages 7&8 + Internet Security ii1.0 (beginner) Internet security is a branch of computer security specifically related to the Internet, often involving browser security [citation needed] but also network security on a more general level, as it applies to other applications or operating systems as a whole. Its objective is to establish rules and measures to use against attacks over the Internet. The Internet represents an insecure channel for exchanging information leading to a high risk of intrusion or fraud, such as phishing, online viruses, trojans, worms and more. Internet security and data bases have long been impactful to all areas of our daily living. Teaching students the relevance and importance of internet security is extremely important. The objective and learning outcome of this course is to help kids understand the value of personal security, cyber bullying and other such social threats, identifying harmful websites, etc. This falls under computer literacy / theory. 13

ii 1.0 Grades 5&6 ages 10&11 + Web Design Web design encompasses many different skills and disciplines in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas of web design include web graphic design; interface design; authoring, including standardized code and proprietary software; user experience design; and search engine optimization. Often many individuals will work in teams covering different aspects of the design process, although some designers will cover them all. The term web design is normally used to describe the design process relating to the front-end (client side) design of a website including writing mark up. Web design partially overlaps web engineering in the broader scope of web development. Web designers are expected to have an awareness of usability and if their role involves creating mark up then they are also expected to be up to date with web accessibility guidelines.
