The spectrophotometers allow students to determine the concentration of a solution by measuring the absorbance of light by samples of different concentrations. The data collected by the spectrophotometers will allow the students to generate graphs for analysis using the LabQuest. SDLC will be held in Nashville, TN on 11/29/ /1/2018 SDLC is a multiracial, multicultural gathering of upper school student leaders (grades nine - 12) from across the U.S. SDLC focuses on self-reflecting, forming allies, and building community. Led by a diverse team of trained adult and peer facilitators, participants will develop effective cross-cultural communication skills, better understand the nature and development of effective strategies for social justice, practice expression through the arts, and learn networking principles and strategies. Replacement filters are no longer available for our current distiller. The water distiller is used by the biology and chemistry teachers to make solutions to use in class experiments and demonstrations. Wish is for $832 Jill Alexis: We currently have five electronic balances in the chemistry lab, all of which are at least 15 years old. Ideally we would have one balance per lab group, so lab exercises could run more smoothly, and allow for more efficient use of class time. Wish is $1180

4 Carol Sweeney: The Tech club wants to start working on Android apps using App Inventor. We wish for 3 Android tablets for testing our projects. We are also looking at App Inventor in the AP Computer Science WE service curriculum where we focus on a global issue of Equity in Education, especially for young women and those with disabilities. Total Wish $387 Erick Magness: I would like to place 3 Oculus Rift headsets on the Wish List Virtual reality (VR) is being used today to train people in a wide variety of fields: fork lift operators, NFL quarterbacks, surgeons, and law enforcement. We would like to bring this growing new field into the classroom. In the Latin classroom we will use VR to transport our students to museums around the world: LA, London, and Paris. We will also transport the world, present and past, to our students: Pyramids, Colosseum, Forum of Rome, battlefields and battles throughout history. Augmented reality and virtual reality "leverage the ability for students to explore spatial relationships" expanding the scope of remote learning, virtual field trips and guided tours (The Journal 1/11/18) Wish is $400 each, Total Wish $1200 Jennifer Horan Wirelessly transfer data to Chromebooks, Computers and ios and Android Devices The science department recently purchased new technology for the lab. We have 12 wonderful labquest computers for the students use, but no ability to easily charge them. We are requesting three charging stations. They were not covered by state funding.
