Corridor lighting in hospitals During th day during pak priods, lunch tims, visiting tims, shift changs, doctor's rounds th light is switchd on. During quit priods, i.. aftrnoons and nights, th light is switchd to a dimmd stat. A patint can switch th light back to th bright stting at any tim by prssing th corridor pushbutton. This mans that approx. 60 W incandscnt lamps, 25 W nrgysaving lamps or 25 W fluorscnt lamps nd to b usd. It is hard to s why lssr rquirmnts should apply to stairwlls in rsidntial buildings than stipulatd in E wir circuit, momntary contact 4 conductors ar installd within th building. Switching of fluorscnt lamps In ordr to xtnd thir srvic lif as far as possibl, fluorscnt lamps should only b switchd using a stairwll lighting timr if th switching frquncy is not xcssiv. Using lctronic ballast (ECG) to oprat thm is mor gntl on th dvic and savs nrgy. Th 5TT1 303 stairwll lighting timr ECG switchs th lctronic ballast and warns of th impnding switchoff by dimming. Switching of nrgysaving lamps Th switching of nrgysaving lamps has provokd hatd discussions. Enrgysaving lamps rquir a crtain tim bfor thy produc thir full light output. Th charactristic of th lctronics is not idal for flashing opration. Thy do not dim.
