1 Winter 2015 Happy 2015! Now that the craziness of the Christmas season is behind us, it s time to hunker down in our warm craft studios and create amazing cards and scrapbooks! Take some time to experiment and learn new techniques by stopping in Wishful Thinking for a demo, or better yet, a class. Hanging around Brown County in the winter has its rewards, too the shops in Nashville are quiet, parking spaces are plentiful, no waits at the restaurants, discounted hotel rates, and the county is beautiful blanketed in snow! We ve got a large selection of both Stencils and Metal Dies from such vendors as Impression Obsession, Ranger, Sizzix, Spellbinders, Magenta, Hero Arts, The Crafter s Workshop, Stamper s Anonymous, and more! Have you played with the new Distress Spray Stains from Tim Holtz? The second batch of colors have recently been released, so stop in to complete your collection! Fun, fun! Once again, the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis will be the place to be this March. This is your opportunity to browse through the booths of lots of rubber stamp vendor and participate in numerous make n takes! So, where do you get tickets for this exciting event? At Wishful Thinking! We are selling tickets at the store, or you can call us at and we ll mail them out to you. Tickets are $6 each and good for both days! These calendar-based papers and stickers beg to be used. So, each month we ll be highlighting different card and tag samples (with step-bystep instructions, of course!) featuring these beautiful papers. We ll post them on our website, as well as in the shop. Introducing: A New Stamp Club! <ta-da!> Last fall we formed a new club with the Brown County Extension Homemakers! This club is called Wishful Thinking and the focus is on Rubber Stamping, and Paper Crafting! We meet the 2 nd Tuesday of each month at our shop. The current members have decided to hold the winter classes from 1:30pm--3:30 (no evening classes). The dates will be January 13, February 10 and March 10. Please call ahead so we know how many kits to put together; If you wish to join this fun group of women, please call or stop in! In this beginner s class you ll make two cards and learn the basics of stamping and heat embossing. All materials are provided. Come and see what all the buzz is over the gelli plate by Gelli Arts! This new wonderful tool will give you endless hours of making decorative mono print papers (Trust us it is addictive!). These papers can be used in all types of mixed media, card making, and scrapbooking projects. We will explore some of the many possibilities you can achieve with this new tool. All supplies provided, but please bring your own Gelli Plate and Brayer if you have one. Cost: $24 Guest Artist: Carol Ponsford. Love the look of watercolor? Come and learn several techniques to use in your card making that will help achieve this beautiful look. Everyone is invited to stop in this evening for a make n take, special sales, as well as the chance to meet fellow stamping and scrapping enthusiasts. This is a FREE event; we just ask that you call to let us know you re coming so we know how many chairs to put out! Guest Artist: Cheryl Holmes. So many of us have been drawn to various art forms by one major ingredient: COLOR! But how many of us feel comfortable applying basic color theory to our choices for our projects? It just seems like a confusing mystery. Join Cheryl for her introduction to COLOR theory. Sound boring? Oh my, NO! Share 2 hours with Cheryl and you ll be able to apply the basic rules of color choice without fail, no more gnashing of teeth or pulling out your hair. It will be fun! Cost: $10 Your Basic Toolbox should include the following: Detail cutting, non-stick scissors Personal Cutter (ie, Fiskars 12 trimmer) Adhesive 12 (or longer) metal edged ruler Pencil Bone Folder Heat Gun Cutting Mat (6 x6 or 6 x8 ) Fine, Medium, & Large Paint Brush Scotch Tape Crop-a-dile Tweezers Note: Prepaid class registration with cash, check or credit card is necessary. Please call at least 24 hours ahead to reserve your spot. Full refund of class fee will be made only if Wishful Thinking is notified 48 hours prior to class (refunds will be in the form of store credit).
