Andromeda has mbbed qualty nto ts thnkng & mplementaton process: be t desgn, manufacturng, packng, logstcs, sales or customer servce. The effcacy of our qualty system s evdent wth the growth n sales. When we consder our core portfolo Home Lghtng systems every satsfed customer talks about the qualty of our product and to the prde of our saga we have 1,00,000 customers usng our products across Inda. Andromeda has a comprehensve Qualty Assurance Program ntated rght from ncomng raw materals, n process controls and up to fnal product nspecton. Andromeda company has obtaned IEC 61215, IEC fromtüv (Inter-Cert) & ISO 9001 certfcaton from TÜV Rhenland. 3.0 PRODUCTS SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE Andromeda manufactures a wde range of solar photovoltac modules startng from 140 W tll 250 W. Photovoltac modules consst of a seres of electrcally nterconnected crystallne slcon solar cells. These cells are permanently encapsulated between a tempered glass actng as a superstrate and a polyethylene based nsulator sheet called substrate. The entre lamnate ssecured wthn an anodzed alumnum frame for structural strength, ease of nstallaton and to protect the module fromthe most severe envronmental condtons. 4.0 END USAGE OR APPLICATION Andromeda modules are drect current (DC) power source, desgned tooperate most effcently under and when exposed to sunlght. Andromeda modules are mantenance-free,all they requre s the front glass cleanng at regular ntervals, supports typcal applcatons lke, power remote homes, water pumps for domestc and agrcultural usage, telecommuncaton systems and many other applcatons nvolvng ether wth or wthout the use of batteres. 1
5.0 SCOPEandLIMITATIONS The scope of ths nstallaton manual s lmted to nstallng the modules. Any local permts requred to nstall the module should be obtaned by the nstaller or the end customer. ANDROMEDA shall have no responsblty or lablty whatsoever for damage or njury to persons or property, or for other loss or njury resultng from any cause whatsoever arsng from mproper use or nstallaton. Under no crcumstances shall ANDROMEDA be lable to any thrd party for any ncdental, consequental or specal damages, howsoever caused. 6.0 SITE CONDITIONS Andromeda modules should be nstalled n a locaton where they wll receve maxmum sunlghtthroughout the year and the area of nstallaton should be shadow free. Basng on the geographcal locatons the modules should be nstalled facng the SUN. If the modules are not nstalled wth approprate orentaton then the module wll produce lower power than t s supposed to produce.the reducton n the module performance s almost lnear to the degree of devaton n the orentaton.when choosng a ste, avod trees, buldngs or obstructons, whch could cast shadows on the modules. Consder the ste specfc condtons whle nstallng the module. Even though the factory ftted bypass dodes of the module wll work to mnmze any such loss, shadng causes lossof output. Do not nstall the module near flame or flammable materals.do not nstall the module n a locaton where t would be mmersed n water or contnually exposed to waterfrom a sprnkler or fountan etc. 7.0 REQUISITES FOR INSTALLATION Before nstallng the modules, the customer or the nstaller should be thoroughly aware of the requstes for nstallaton. Solar Modules are source of Hgh wattage, adequate care should be taken for electrc protecton. The modules should be nstalled by qualfed person only. Please check wth your local authortes for the nformaton on the qualfed personnel to nstall the modules. The modules should be nstalled n a shadow free regon. The ste specfc requrements lke, module orentaton, module tlt angle (see Fgure-1)etc, should be thoroughly understood or an expert orentaton s obtaned or contact the company to know the exact detals requred to nstall the modules. As a thumb rule, tlt angle s the angle between (horzontal) ground and the solar module. Recommended tlt angles for a Fxed mountng system (see table -1). Systems should be nstalled by qualfed personnel only. It nvolves electrcty, and can be dangerous f the personnelare not famlar wth the approprate safety procedures. The module frame s made of anodzed alumnum, and therefore corroson can occur f the module s subject to a saltwater envronment wth contact to a rack of another type of metal (Electrolyss Corroson). If requred, PVC orstanless steel washers can be placed between the module frame and support structure to prevent corroson. Module support structures that are to be used to support modules at correct tlt angles should be wndand snow load rated for use by the approprate local and cvl codes pror to nstallaton. 2
8.0 MODULE MOUNTING SCREW FITTING:Usng corroson-proof screws (M8) on the exstng nstallng holes n the module frame, see fgure 3. CLAMP FITTING:Usngsutable module clamps on the module frame, to mount the modules on the frame consderng both types of module orentatons horzontal and vertcal placng of module wth reference to facng the sun and the ground. The clamp should not touch the front glass of the module and should not be thck to create a shadow on the module, see fgure-3. The frame of each module has 4 mountng holes (12mm 8mm) used to secure the modules to supportng structure.the module frame must be attached to a supportng structure usng stanless steel hardware together wth sprngwashers and flat washers n four places symmetrcal on the module. The appled torque s about ~8 Newton-meters. The module clamps must not come nto contact wth the front glass and must not deform the frame. Avodshadowng effects from the module clamps and the nserton systems. It s not permtted to modfy the module frameunder any crcumstances. Recommended gap between 2 Solar modules, or module and mountng structure s 5mm. Clearance between the module frame and mountng surface may be requred to prevent the juncton box fromtouchng the surface, and to crculate coolng ar around the back of the module. The modules are not desgned for ntegral mountng as part of a roof or wall. The mountng desgn may have anmpact on the fre resstance. If the modules are to be nstalled on the roof or wall of a buldng, the fre resstance ofroof coverng or wall should be rated for the applcaton. If the modules are nstalled on a buldng wall or roof, the modules are supported parallel to the surface of the roof or buldng wall. Clearance between themodule frames and surface of the wall or roof s requred to prevent wrng damage and to allow ar to crculaton behnd the module. The mnmum clearance (of about 115 mm) between the module and the roof. Any other clearances are used then the lstng n the fre class ratngs may be effected. Any slope less than 5n/ft (127mm/305mm) requred to mantan a fre class ratng. Do not mount SPV module n such way that the dran holes of SPV module are ntended to block up. Do not step on the module durng nstallaton and after nstallaton. 9.0 GROUNDING REQUISITES Each Module s provded wth a 3.9 mm da hole, n both the Length channels to connect the groundng cable (see fgure-2). Proper groundng s acheved by connectng the module frame(s) and structural members contguously one to anotherusng a sutable groundng conductor. Ths must be properly done n accordance wth the Natonal Electrcal Code (NEC) or as per Natonal Regulatons. The groundng conductor should be copper or copper alloy or othermateral acceptable for use as per NEC. The 3
conductor should be connected to a module wth abolt and nut that ncorporates an external tooth washer. The ground cable of all modulesn an array should be nterconnected and then s connected to the mountng structure. The mountng structure also needs to be grounded n accordance wth NEC. The groundng conductors must then make aconnecton to earth usng a sutable earth ground electrode.attach a separate conductor to one of the groundng holes on the module frame wth abolt and nut that ncorporates an external tooth washer. Ths s to ensure postve electrcal contact wth the frame BYPASS DIODES AND BLOCKING DIODES Partal shadng of an ndvdual module can cause a reverse voltage across the shaded module. Current s thenforced through the shaded area by the other modules.when a bypass dode s wred n parallel wth the seres strng, the forced current wll flow through the dode andbypass the shaded module, thereby mnmzng module heatng and array current losses.in system utlzng a battery, blockng dodes are typcally placed between the battery and the SPV module output toprevent battery dscharge at nght, and prevent modules from loss of array output and beng damaged or destroyed by reverse current flow.our modules are not ftted wth blockng dodes, however most PV charge controller or Inverter do provde blockng dodes, customer are requested to check wth the respectve component suppler. We use, Dotec make F1200D seres bypass dode, the specfcatons of the same can be obtaned from alternatvely a copy of our bypass dodes can be obtaned from us va emal and the same s recommended to be used by the customer WARNING AND NOTES The modules generate electrcty when exposed to lght. Array of many modules can cause lethal shock and burn hazards. Only authorzed and traned personnel should have access to these modules. To reduce the rsk ofelectrcal shock or burns, modules maybe covered wth an opaque materal durng nstallaton to avod shocks orburns. Do not touch lve termnals wth bare hands. Use nsulated tools for electrcal connectons. Use approprate methods to mount SPV modules. Fall of modules from hgh place wll cause death, njury ordamage. The module has a par of male and female waterproof connectors. For a seres electrcal connecton, connectpostve (+) connector of frst module to negatve (-) connector of the followng module. Do not short the postve and the negatve. Do not dsconnect under load. Be sure connector no gap between thensulators. In case there s a gap, a fre and/or an electrcal shock may occur. Artfcally concentrated sunlght shall not be drected on the SPV module. The electrcal characterstcs are ndcatedvalue of Pmax under standard test condtons (Irradance of 1000W/m2, AM 1.5 spectrum, and cell temperature of25 C). Under feld condtons, a solar photovoltac module s lkely to experence condtons that produce more or less currentand/or voltage than reported at standard test condtons. 4
12.0 MODULE WIRING Each module has two #12 AWG type standard 90 C sunlght resstant output cables each termnated wth plug &playconnectors. Ths cable s sutable for applcatons where wrng s exposed to the drect rays of the Sun. Werecommend that all wrng and electrcal connectons comply wth the Natonal Electrcal Code (NEC).For feld connectons, use the mnmum No. #12 AWG copper wres nsulated for a mnmum of 90 C and sunlghtresstant as well. The mnmum and maxmum outer cable dameters of the cable are 5 to 7mm. Refer to local regulatons on desgnng the cable sze as per maxmumelectrcal ratng of seres fuse MAINTENANCE Under most weather condtons, normal ranfall s suffcent to keep the module glass surface clean. If drtbuld-up becomes excessve, clean the glass only wth a soft cloth usng mld detergent and water. USE CAUTIONWHEN CLEANING THE BACK SURFACE OF THE MODULE TO AVOID PENETRATING THE SUBSTRATEMATERIALS. Modules that are mounted flat (0 tlt angle) should be cleaned more often, as they wll not ''selfclean'' as effectvely as modules mounted at tlt or greater. Once a year, check the tghtness of termnal screwsand the general condton of the wrng. Also, check to be sure that mountng hardware s tght. Loose connectonswll result n damage for array.changed module must be the same knd and type. Do not touch lve parts of cables and connectors. Useapproprate safety equpment (nsulated tools, nsulatng gloves, etc.), when touchng them. Do not forget to cover the front surface of the module by an opaque or other materal when reparng. The modules whenexposed to sunlght generate hgh voltage and are dangerous APPLICATION CLASSES Our modules are desgned and qualfed to be used n Applcaton class A, and (safety classes are defed wthn EN 61140) ) Applcaton class A, consdered to meet the requrements for safety class II.Modules rated for use n ths applcaton class may be used n systems operatng at greater than 120 V DC. 5
