Why in a world where the passion for professional photography and the amount of people creating images has never been greater are photography magazine sales declining? The answer to this question is why Hungry Eye exists. We believe that there is now a new established community of image makers. They are passionate, male, female, young, old, mothers, fathers, students, they are international, they love photography, capturing moments, recording their lives, what they see and what they experience. They want to share their passions and experiences and they want to be involved in the world of image making with stills and the moving image. 3 THE HUNGRY TEAM EDITORIAL DIRECTOR Grant Scott Grant art directed magazines such as Elle and Tatler throughout the late Eighties and Nineties. He was the Creative Director for Getty Images Worldwide in 1999 and has edited Professional Photographer magazine, Photography Monthly and Turning Pro in the UK for the last two years. Grant has judged a number of international photographic awards and has had his writings on design published in a number of books. His first monograph of photography was published by Thames & Hudson in As a professional photographer he has worked for clients such as Vogue, Glamour, Bang & Olufsson and Sony Ericsson amongst others. SOCIAL MEDIA EDITOR Eleanor O Kane Eleanor was previously the Deputy Editor of Professional Photographer magazine and is a leading commentator on the growth of social media. She has been involved in publishing and journalism for over ten years US EDITOR Sean Samuels Sean is based in Las Vegas and Los Angeles but has previously worked as a contracted scriptwriter for the BBC. He was also the Deputy Editor of Photography Monthly magazine for the past two years. EDITORS AT LARGE Richard Jobson Originally a singer in the seminal punk band The Skids Richard then became a TV presenter before becoming a film director, producer and screenwriter. He has directed several films including Sixteen Years of Alcohol in 2003, The Purifiers in 2004 and A Woman in Winter in 2005'. He is a leading voice and activist in the world of convergence (shooting moving image on DSLR cameras) and will begin directing the follow up film to the cult Quadrophenia later this year. Richard will have a monthly column within Hungry Eye. Jonathan Worth Jonathan is a professional photographer and lecturer as well as the driving force behind and founder of Phonar the worlds first open community photography degree platform. This has lead to him becoming an internationally recognized spokesman for the future of arts education. TECHNICAL EDITOR TIM PELLAT Tim is a self confessed Kit Geek film maker and photographer. He established his own video production company Cordial AV over ten years ago and since has produced work for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky. CONTRIBUTING EDITORS Jake Chessum South London born Jake has been based in New York for over ten years and is considered to be one of the most creative portrait photographers working today. He has now begun shooting films. David Loftus London based David has created award winning images for Jamie Oliver for over ten years and is one of the busiest and most successful photographers working in the lifestyle genre today. Andrew Hetherington New York based photographer Andrew has been a leading advocate in the use of social media to develop his career. His What s the Jackanory is a winner in the prestigous LIFE 2011 Best Photo Blogs awards. Peter Dench Peter is an award winning photojournalist based in London whose humorous tweeting has led to him compiling the hugely popular Dench Diary: The Diary of a Sometime Working Pro for Professional Photographer magazine. Peter will be bringing The Dench Diary to Hungry Eye. David Eustace Born in Glasgow and now based in New York. David is not only an acclaimed film maker he is also an award winning and internationally exhibited photographer. Chris Floyd Based in London Chris s portrait work appears in many of the world s leading magazines. He is also an enthusiastic adopter of convergence and now finds himself creating both still and moving images for most of hic commercial clients. Peter Silverton Peter started his career charting the music industry of the Seventies and the rise of Punk. Since then he has become a widely respected journalist and writer and his book Filthy English was published in Peter is an informed and original thinker whose monthly column One More Shot will feature in Hungry Eye. Clive Booth Clive is a visual thinker with a graphic designer background. Based in London his photography and filmmaking is in great demand by an impressive collection of international fashion and beauty brands. Ed Webster Ed is the Commissioning Director for Photography for Channel 4 and 4 Creative. As such he is on the frontline of professional photography s convergence with the moving image. Ed will be bringing this experience and knowledge to the Hungry Eye. HUNGRY WHAT IS HUNGRY MAGAZINE? Hungry Eye is a monthly magazine which stands apart from all existing photographic magazines. It combines the world s of film making and photography in every issue. It is small, beautifully designed and printed. It is collectable. It understands that image making is fun. It is available to purchase from locations which imagemakers visit, meet and interact as well as directly from the Hungry Eye website. It is part of the image making community it engages with. They are at the forefront of the world of image making or want to be informed and entertained by it. The contributors to Hungry Eye are creating the magazines, posters, commercials and images that shape our everyday lives. They are reporting from war zones, sports stadia, on location, studio sets and the catwalk. These are the people that the Hungry Eye community want to hear from.
