1 MODULE 4 CREATING SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT Introduction Hello, this is Stefan, and welcome to Module 4, Creating YouTube Videos. Types of Social Media Content There are many different types of social media content, and for the most part, social media content are images and video, and they are most often in the form of being: Funny or clever - entertaining in some way Thoughtful or inspirational - oftentimes you might see certain quotes or images, before or after pictures, that can be very powerful and inspirational Educational - where you might be teaching something in some way in a social media post Beautiful or visually appealing oftentimes people might use different social media platforms, such as Instagram, just to look at images and beautiful photographs Conversational or interactive - so that s often when you are interacting with your followers and subscribers
2 Promotional - that s when you are going to promote and market through affiliate marketing Now these different types of social media content can be used on almost any social media platform, but we are going to primarily focus on: Facebook Twitter Instagram It is always important to make sure that you research and identify what is the most popular and common types of content for each platform and for your niche. You want to make sure the content is relevant, and like I said, adding value to your niche and market so that you can attract people to follow you on social media. Im going to show you some different examples of social media content, and Im also going to show you how to create your own social media content. 1. Instagram First Im going to show you different content examples on Instagram, and them Im going to show you how to create your own content, such as images and video, that can be used for Instagram, and also easily shared to Facebook and Twitter as well. As you can see, Im doing a screen capture on my i-phone. You are going to need a smart phone in order to use Instagram. Instagram is a free app that you can download, and hopefully you have already set up your Instagram account for your brand. Hopefully you are also following the other brands that are in your niche and market, the other social media accounts, because you are going to learn a lot, just by following them. I really want to make sure that you do that because you will learn a lot about the different types of content that people respond to.
3 I will first show you the Project Life Mastery Instagram account, and hopefully you are following me so you see a little bit more about what we are doing. At the time of this video we had 26,000 followers, and we primarily focus on posting content related to motivation, self-improvement, success, passive income, and lifestyle. You can see that we link to a free resource that we have here, to build an list, and I will show you how to monetize these platforms a little bit later on in a different module. A lot of the different types of content are motivation and inspirational thoughts, quotes and images, so you can see, for example, Don t fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today! We also make sure that we include the website, Project Life Mastery, in the images that we create. Every market is different, and it is important to understand, for each platform, what people respond to. With the case of Instagram, people love quotes, images and short videos, and that is kind of what you are limited to as well. With Instagram, people want to look at images, quotes or be inspired in some way. Like I said, every niche or market is somewhat different. We primarily focus on one type of content, we do some promotional content as well, usually every week, so this is an example of a promotional one, where in the caption here, we say, Do you want to know how I became an internet millionaire at 29 years old, and basically we just have a link and mention the link in the bio for people to click. It is basically a call to action to monetize the Instagram platform that we have here. I will show you how to create different quotes and images; these can easily be shared on Facebook and Twitter, and that is a great benefit of Instagram is that you can easily share content amongst different platforms. If I come here to the Instagram search, and let s say the niche that I want to research is weight loss, whatever your primary keyword is, you re going to want to search for it on Instagram, as well as Facebook and Twitter, because then you can see the top people.
4 Let us say, IG_weightloss, so this Instagram profile has 1.2 million followers, you can read a little bit about them; daily tips to help you get into shape, healthy recipes, exercise tips, motivation. If we look at their different types of content we can get an idea of what they are posting in this niche or market. So, this one here, 1 Hour Sale, Buy 1, Get 1 Free, well, what does this look like? This is a promotional piece of content, so you can see that they are promoting someone s product here, and whether it is as an affiliate, Im not sure, but they mention, click the link in the bio to claim your free tea and they have some more information. If you go back to their bio, and you click on the link that is here, then that is going to take you to buy the product that they are promoting in their Instagram. This one here is an image, and you can see here, they have their caption, so what does it say, bacon cheddar chicken burgers with guacamole and BBQ mayo, ingredients, so this is a recipe, actually an educational form of content because they are providing a lot of value here in the caption of the post.
5 Here is a video, somebody is showing you how to do a workout, and you can see that they are interacting with their audience too tag a friend who wants to try. Okay, here is a funny, entertaining kind of post this is how I feel about cardio. It has got a cat, lying on a treadmill, so again, that is just another different type that you can do. Here s an image one of a healthy, delicious recipe, with the ingredients. Here is a before and after picture, so again, inspirational. So this Instagram profile really does a great job of using a lot of the things that I mentioned, they have got quotes here as well, they are asking people to tag people to help further promote their Instagram, again, more videos, and they really use a lot of different types, which can be really good. Sometimes it is good to stick with a consistent theme, other times you can switch it up and use different types, it really depends on the niche or genre that you are in. So, this is just an example of a lot of different types. Again, I encourage you to do a search on Instagram, find the top people in your niche and market, and follow them, because you will get a lot of ideas that you will be able to apply to your own Instagram and content creation for social media. Now, let me show you how to create some of this content. Some of the content is things that you can take images of, and if you can take your own professional photos, that is a fantastic way of creating content or recording videos of yourself, or even sharing content that you are already producing. So, if you are writing articles or creating YouTube videos, you can use little clips, quotes or screen shots, and post that on your Instagram as well. As an example of that, here is video that I did, and I was actually just sharing a testimonial that someone posted; I just shared it on my Instagram. That could be an example as well, just taking a screen shot of your content. If you are creating content, you can share that on Instagram and social media
6 as well. I have some videos here also, screenshots as well of what Im up to. Sometimes people like to follow that and see how you are living your life. Now, when it comes to creating content, I will show you how to create one form of content that is the most common on Instagram and social media, which are images with quotes. There are different apps that are available that you can download to use for that. The primary one that I use is called, Word Dream, and with Word Dream there is a free version and a paid version. The free version can be good for now but if you really want to go pro then you have got to invest like $4 for the pro version. As you can see, they have a lot of different examples here of where you can post really good fonts on top of images, so either images that you took photos of yourself, or you can find other images elsewhere on the Internet, stock images, that you can put quotes on. They also have different templates that you can use here also, so you can see that they have a lot of different templates, and they pull these images from pixabay, so you can also do a search here for different keywords and find different images that you might want to use as well.
7 I just picked this background. You can change the text pretty easily here, so I can put in whatever I want, let us say, never give up. I can put whoever said that as well. There is a lot of different options here that they have. There is a lot of different apps that are like this. If you do not like Word Dream, go to the app store and search for Quote Maker, there is tons of apps that allow you to do this, typography type stuff. I personally do not do my quotes anymore, I actually have a virtual assistant that does this, which is something I will share a little bit later on, how to outsource some of this stuff. I have someone that manages my social media. I just focus on taking images of myself, or my lifestyle, or recording little videos here or there. There are different fonts and different styles that they have, you can put in your domain as well. I think you have to unlock this to put in your brand name, then you can generate the image and export it, and easily share it to Instagram. So, if I wanted to post this to Instagram, I can change the filter if I want, hit next, I can put in a caption here, where you basically want to describe what is already in the image, or you can go a lot deeper, depending on what type of content you want to create. You can share a story, you can provide some educational content if you want, teach something about never giving up. The more you can do, the better quality of content, than the more people are going to resonate with it. Another fantastic thing to use for social media are hashtags. Hashtags is when you put a hashtag and then a certain keyword. So, for this one, I could put motivation as a hashtag, I could also put inspiration. There are certain hashtags that are more common than others and Ill maybe share down the road, on how to improve some of these processes. When you put in hashtags a lot of people can find your content a lot easier and they even suggest a bunch as well. For example, if I go back to quotes, you can see all the ones that are suggested here. By including hashtags, people that are just looking up images under those different hashtags, can find you, and it can help you attract more followers.
8 You can either put your hashtags in your caption, or you can leave a comment on your post and put the hashtags as a comment. Sometimes people do not want to put the hashtags in the caption because it can overwhelm it a little bit too much, and take away from the message in the caption. That is why including the hashtags as a comment can be more effective, and there is a limit to how many hashtags you can include. I do not remember what the exact limit is, but I recommend to use as many as what Instagram allows. Again, try to think of the most commonly used hashtags in your niche or market that is relevant to your content, and again, it is just different keywords. Now, once you are ready to post, the cool thing with Instagram is that you can easily share it with Twitter and Facebook. You can link your Twitter account as well as your Facebook fan page with your Instagram account, and that s what we use and what we found to be most efficient, because then you don t have to go to Facebook and Twitter and post all over again. You can just share the content that you are creating in one place with those other platforms. That is one benefit of starting with Instagram first, and why I primarily focus on using Instagram. There are some softwares that can help you and Ill share some of this stuff in a later module as well, but it can help you automate some of this and schedule some of your posts in the future. As an example, Hoot Suite is one, there is also one called, Schedulegram that you can purchase. You have to pay for a lot of these different softwares but they can help you speed up the process. Now, when it comes to Instagram content, for Project Life Mastery, the brands, we try to focus on frequency, and that s one thing that we mentioned inside this module, is that the more frequent that you can be with your content, the better, because the more content that you have out there, than the more people that you are going to attract to you. For example, with Project Life Mastery, I have a team of virtual assistants that manages that account, and so we aim to do new posts every 3 hours
9 and we use Schdulegram to schedule everything in. It might seem like a lot when you are getting started, we didn t start that way, but eventually you want to automate your process and put out more content, and if you really want to grow and reach as many people as possible, this is a good way to do it. So, frequency is key, but when you are first starting out, pick a consistent schedule, whether it is every day or every two days, or a few times a day; pick a realistic amount that you can commit to and then just aim for that to the best of your ability and try to be consistent. That is an example of how to create content for Instagram, that can be used on Facebook and Twitter as well. 2. Facebook Here I am at the Project Life Mastery Facebook fan page. Now, if you scroll down and look at some of the content that we are posting, again, its relevant to the niche or market that we are in. You can see that we are sharing some of the social media posts that we are posting on Instagram, so positive quotes and images. People respond to it. The great thing about this kind of content is that people share it and like it, which increases a lot of the engagement of our post as well.
10 I also do some posts like this. Actually, this might be a post that you recognize from some of the content from Affiliate Marketing Mastery, and I share it on social media, a little bit about the process and the importance of some of the things I was sharing. I wanted to share the slides from the Impact of Quality Content, so I shared that here on social media. I also use my Facebook page to share blog posts and articles that Im publishing on the blog, and that is one of the best ways to use social media. Everything that you create on YouTube and publish on your blog, you are going to want to make sure that you are sharing that on your Facebook fan page and Twitter as well. That is going to help you reach more people that are following you on social media; they are going to be able to be notified when you are releasing new content as well, and it is a great way to build that trust and relationship, and engage more with the people on your social media account. Reposting your own content is ideal images, quotes, videos - that you can upload directly to Facebook. I often recommend that, whatever you are posting on Instagram, posting it on your blog and YouTube as well. Here is our I love Fitness Facebook fan page, right now 168,000 likes, so a very popular page that we have. You can see that we have different images here as well. I share some of the content from Project Life Mastery, promoting supplements, promotional types of content, so that is primarily what we focus on for this account. 3. Twitter This is the Project Life Mastery Twitter, and like I said, we share content that Im publishing on my blog and YouTube.
11 You can see I have got my Instagram posts as well, so it links to whatever Im sharing on Instagram. You can also share tweets. With Twitter you are limited to how many characters you can post, but you have got to log into your Twitter, click the tweet button here, and you can just put in whatever you want. You can add in images or photos, videos, gifts, you can add in a poll, and you are limited to 140 characters, so you have got to be really creative with your postings to your Twitter. Here is one for a different niche on health and fitness, or fitness and nutrition, and you can see that they just focus on different motivational-type tweets that they post and they just have one consistent theme for it. It is straightforward when it comes to Twitter and Facebook, and like I said, just focus on re-posting the content that you are already creating because if you are going through the time and energy to create content, you want it to reach as many people as possible. That is something that we are going to talk about more about in the later module. Another strategy that you can utilize as well for content is just sharing other people s content on your social media accounts. For example, on Instagram, maybe you are following me or someone else that is motivational or someone that is creating images; you can just repost and share those images on your
12 Instagram, or you can repost and share other people s images or videos or content on you Facebook page or on your Twitter; you can retweet people Those are the main ways of creating content, and like I said, I want to reemphasize following people in your niche or market to find out exactly what they are doing so that you can learn from them and optimize your social media platforms to do the same thing.
