Our exhibition will be artfully displayed in the art gallery, for eight weeks, beginning with an awards ceremony and reception on Thursday, 20 November, The ceremony will begin promptly at 6pm. As you all know, Grace Way Village in Ft. Pierce has been selected to be the recipient of the net proceeds from our event. Coupled with sponsor donations (after our expenses), your entry fees, minus a small processing fee, will be donated directly to this wonderful nonprofit family outreach. 2 Guest Speaker J. PATRICK RICE Thank you for inviting me to do a presentation for your photo club on Oct. 01. Here is some background information about me.!! I was born and raised in Vero Beach, FL and purchased my first serious camera, a Minolta SR201 SLR for Woolworth s department store around 1977 and begin the learning process of photography. I enjoyed photographing throughout my college days but after graduating from college got busy with life and quit taking photos. Fast forward to late 2003, I decided to realize a lifetime dream of going to Alaska and told my wife before we went I wanted to get a really good camera and purchased a Canon Digital Rebel which was the first digital SLR to break the $1000 barrier. That camera rekindled my passion on photography and I had a fantastic time photographing for two weeks in Alaska in early June of Since that time I have progressed through many Canon camera bodies and lenses. I joined the Indian River Photo Club in August of 2004 and became quickly involved as a board member and over many years served in many different positions including that of President of the club. I took advantage of many photography classes at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, read many books of photograph and attended many workshops in my constant drive to improve my knowledge and passion of photograph. In 2008 a coworker asked me if I could take some photos of his daughter s high school basketball team since I liked photography. That began a new journey of learning and frustration of trying to capture fast action with slow camera lenses. In 2009 I became a part time freelance photographer for Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers and still do many sports photo assignment for them. I also started a website: to display and sell my images. Over these years I have become very proficient in Adobe Lightroom and have taught several courses in Lightroom and I also have done photography workshops for McKee Botanical Gardens for several years. I love low light action photography and strive to create razor sharp images. I enjoy photographing a wide variety of subjects including: all sports (football, baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, golf, cross country, swimming and track) concert photography, ballets, plays, travel and portrait photography.!! At your meeting I will share many tips on how to improve your photography and share my approach to photographing various subject matters. Happy Trails,! Rob read minutes of August 6, 2014 meeting. Ginger read treasury report. $ Mike took questions from members. Jeff updated us on From the Heart Photo Show. Reminded us that October 9 is the deadline to enter your photographs. Jeff answered questions from members. Kay informed us of potential upcoming field trips. Stuart Air Show Nov. 1&2 will not be an organized trip, but great photo op. Butterfly World Saturday November 8. F3C (Florida Camera Club Council) conference in Ft. Myers March 6-8, Robbie showed winners of Sept. monthly photo contest. Lisa Ludlum winner. Mentioned photography classes offered at IRSC. Anjula said Scott Kelby Photo Walk Oct. 11 in PSL was filled, but Ft. Pierce walk still had a few openings. 8 Monthly Meeting Gear Swap Photographers are always looking for the latest and greatest gear and equipment. We spend a lot of money looking for that perfect piece of equipment that is going to take our photography to the next level. And, so, over the years we all end up collecting things that we no longer want or use, i.e. camera bodies, lenses, camera bags, filters, tripods, etc., etc. We will have space/tables available for you to display your photographic related items you wish to sell, trade or give away. Your items should be marked with the usual info, i.e. name, price and any spec sheet data, etc. Also, any publications you wish to sell or share bring them. Displaying your items during the social hour will get the most exposure. The Treasure Coast Photography Center, Inc. will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any displayed items. Each member is totally responsible for their own stuff. All equipment/ materials must be removed from the building by the end of the meeting. Any items not claimed by the end of the meeting will be disposed of. Website News... All our members are encouraged to submit pictures to be included on The Treasure Coast Photography Center s web site. If you are a new member or haven t been on the web site before, here is a link. We include pictures from our monthly contests, field trips, monthly themes or any other subject that you want on your individual member portfolio. They are currently needing several more attendees in order to fill the bus they have chartered. Our members have been invited to join their group. 10 Digital Workflow, Not Workslow with Lightroom 5 Now limited to 8 people per class! No one ever accused a creative mind of being organized. The two don t usually go hand in hand. But when you re a photographer, being organized is invaluable. In our 4-day intense workshop, D-65 will teach you detailed workflow with Lightroom 5, to vastly improve your digital asset management, processing and image delivery skills. Our workshops are small (8 people max) and focus on each participants individual workflow needs. We hold the workshop in Florida only, in a more personal setting quite different from a lecture hall or conference room. What will you learn? You ll learn the fundamentals of Lightroom 5 and become an expert in keeping every image you shoot organized, edited and archived through keywording, metadata and collections. You ll create a new catalog and learn how to import your images correctly, along with merging your old files into this catalog, solving your workflow problems. You ll optimally develop and enhance your images with presets and synchronization. You will learn the fundamentals of moving between Lightroom and Photoshop with ease while delivering quality images to friends, family or clients. By the end of our 4 day classroom based workshop, you will have the skills to create your own successful workflow in Lightroom 5. And, you ll also receive our comprehensive D-65 Lightroom book. Everyone always asks, Is this workshop for amateurs or pro s, or for me? and the answer is: The workshop moves slow and everyone has their own computer and we move step by step taking questions constantly and we repeat everything in our basic workflow each day. The workshop is small with one on one attention. Our workshops are really geared to anyone interested in learning digital. We have an equal amount of pros and amateurs and everyone does well in class as a mix. Most professional photographers have a excellent background in film but are self taught in digital and for the most part, doing it all wrong. We start from the basics and very quickly the pros realize that they are in the same boat as the amateurs. We have had 1000 plus folks and truly have never had an unhappy camper and we know you would find the program awesome whether you are a pro or amateur, beginner or advanced. There is a 50% refund if you cancel from days prior to the course. There is no refund if you cancel less than 14 days prior to your course. If we need to cancel a workshop you will be given a 30 day notice and receive a full refund of all payments. Transfers If you would like to transfer to different dates for the same course, we would be happy to accommodate your request on a space-available basis.
