1 QUILT SHOW PLEASE READ CAREFULLY & NOTE CHANGES PLEASE BE PREPARED AND PATIENT AT REGISTRATION 1. Entries for quilts will be accepted at the exhibit bldg on Wednesday from 8AM to 10AM. Judging will begin at 10:30AM on Wednesday. 2. Entry fee will be $5.00 per quilt and must be paid in order to be eligible for any or all prizes. Youth entries, 18 and under, will be free. First Place Quilts only will be eligible for the Best of Show Award. 3. Entries will be accepted from residents of Colfax, Union, Harding, Taos, San Miguel and Mora Counties, as well as residents of Las Animas County, Colorado. 4. Quilts from eligible counties, which have been entered in previous shows or fairs within the past 12 months, may also be entered in the Colfax County Fair Quilt Show. 5. Portions of a quilt top (ie. blocks) made previous to the 12 month period before the County Fair, by someone other than the exhibitor, are eligible for entry. However, the exhibitor must have completed said quilt within the allotted 12 months. The quilt shall be entered as a quilt made by two or more people with all persons, if known, contributing to the workmanship of the quilt listed in the entry. 6. The Quilt Show Committee will be in charge of entries and reserves the right to accept or reject entries depending on condition and suitability for exhibit. 7. Quilts must be free of dirt, pet hair, odors or risk disqualification. 8. The Quilt Show Committee reserves the right to reorganize quilt classes as deemed necessary. 9. Quilted home accessories or wearable items such as table runners, coasters, placemats, tree skirts, ornaments, and jackets will not be accepted for entry in the quilt show, but may be entered in the Colfax County Fair Needlework division if the quilter is a Colfax County resident. These entries will be accepted on Thursday from 8AM to 10AM. 10. The judges will award prizes only to articles deemed worthy of merit. 11. The decision of judges is FINAL. 12. Every precaution is taken to protect all articles, but it is distinctly understood that in no case shall the Fair Association or its volunteers be held responsible for any loss or damage to a quilt. All quilts entered in the quilt show will be hung and displayed so that the public cannot handle the quilts. 13. All quilts must have a fabric label on Lower Left Corner of back with exhibitor s name and quilt name on label. Label must be attached with safety pins or sewn on. NO STRAIGHT PINS. If quilt maker s name appears elsewhere on quilt it must be covered. 14. The public will vote for the quilt of their choice for the People's Choice Award from the opening of the Exhibit building Thursday afternoon until 1PM Saturday. 4 FLOWER SHOW 1. Only AMATEUR growers who grow plants for pleasure and not for profit are eligible to compete for prizes. Professional flower growers may exhibit for display only, if space allows, and will not compete for prizes. 2. All entries will be taken Thursday from 8AM - 10AM. Judging will begin as soon as entries close. 3. Exhibits should be free of insects, dirt, disease, and spray residue. 4. No exhibit will be accepted for competition unless the number of blooms or stems corresponds with the stated number in the premium book. 5. No exhibit will be accepted for competition unless listed in the premium book. The exhibit may be placed for display if space is available. 6. Exhibitors will only be allowed to remove exhibits during the designated time listed on the fair schedule. 7. Form, color, size, condition, substance, and uniformity will be considered in judging entries in this department. 8. FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT FILL OUT YOUR TAG AND CLASSIFY YOUR OWN ENTRY. 9. All displays will be behind screening for their protection. 10.
