Yardage requirements for this pattern may allow for excess yardage to accommodate specific placement of motifs or to allow for any fussy-cutting to achieve the finished quilt design. While every attempt has been made to give accurate measurements, yardage requirements, and construction directions; this does not allow personal variations in measuring, cutting, and or sewing. The enclosed directions were used in the construction of the original quilt. Cutting Directions: From the - Raspberry and Turq - cut three 8 x 8 squares and two 8 1/4 x 8 1/4 squares. Cut the 8 1/4 squares once on the diagonal. From the Kiss Dots - Aqua and Orange - cut sixteen 3 x 3 squares. From the - White - cut thirty-two 3 x 3 squares and then cut fifty four 3 x 3 squares. Cut the fifty-four squares once on the diagonal. From the Play Stripe - Tangerine and Caribbean - cut five strips - 1 1/4 x the width of the fabric. From the Red Hatch Patch and the Mint Wild Leaves - cut eighteen 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 squares. Sewing Directions: Start with one of the 8 x 8 raspberry squares from one of the Tangerine Play Stripe strips - cut two 8 strips and two 9 1/4 strips. Using a 1/4 seam allowance, sew the 8 strips to opposite sides of the 8 square. Press. Sew the 9 1/4 strips to the two additional sides. Press. Repeat for the remaining raspberry 8 squares and the three Turquoise 8 squares - using the Caribbean Play Stripe for Turqouise. Next, sew strips of Tangerine Play Stripe to the short sides of three of the Raspberry half square triangles (cut from the 8 1/4 squares.) Repeat for the three Turquoise half square triangles, using the Caribbean Play Stripe. Press and trim the section to be 6 1/2 wide. Set aside. Match up the 3 squares of Orange Kiss Dots with White - right sides together. Draw a pencil line on the diagonal of one side. Sew a 1/4 on each side of the pencil line. Cut on the pencil line. Open and press seam to one side. Repeat with the Aqua Kiss Dots. Square up each to be 2 1/2 x 2 1/2.

Layout the corner sections as shown. Sew in rows - using a 1/4 seam allowance. Sew the rows together and press carefully. Stitch 18 corners in each colorway.

Prepare the side blocks in the same manner - sewing two corner sections to the striped sides. Press. Lay out the quilt as shown in the photo.

Lay out 4 corners on each 9 1/4 square section. sew to opposite first. Then add the other two sides. Three Raspberry blocks and three Turquoise blocks. Prepare the side blocks in the same manner - sewing two corner sections to the striped sides. Press. Lay out the quilt as shown in the photo. Sew the blocks together in rows and then sew the rows together. Applique patterns for the Giraffe and the Elephant are attached. Seam allowances are NOT included in the patterns. Use the fat quarters to design your animals and applique onto the quilt. Cut away the excess quilt under when the applique is complete. Cut the outer borders from the Green Leafy Vines. First cut two 4 1/2 strips the width of the fabric. Measure the top and bottom of your quilt and cut the strips this length. Sew. Press. Then cut two 4 1/2 strips the length of the fabric. Measure the length of the quilt and cut the strips this length. Sew. Press. For the backing fabric, cut a 15 1/2 strip the length of the fabric from each side. Cut two strips 4 1/2 x length of the fabric. Sew the strips in between the backing fabric sections. Press. Layer quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt as desired. For binding, cut 2 1/4 strips, sew end to end, to equal 190. Press wrong sides together and attach as French Fold Binding.
