Please check our website for any revisions before starting this project. This pattern requires a basic knowledge of quilting technique and terminology. The quilt and block diagrams portrayed are virtual images. The layout and look of your project may differ when using actual fabric. FABRIC REQUIREMENTS 1 Sundown Fat Quarter Stack (FQ ) 2½ yards (2.3 m) gold scene (C4881 Gold) Note: Extra yardage has been allowed to fussy cut the border. 5/8 yard (60 cm) gold saddle blanket (C4882 Gold) 2½ yards (2.3 m) cream shade (C Cream) 3/8 yard (35 cm) slate shade (C Slate) 3/8 yard (35 cm) phantom shade (C Phantom) 3/8 yard (35 cm) tan shade (C Tan) 3/8 yard (35 cm) lemon shade (C Lemon) Binding ¾ yard (70 cm) Backing 5 yards (4.6 m) Slate Shade, Phantom Shade, Tan Shade, and Lemon Shade Cut 1 boot from each shade fabric using the template provided. Add ¼" seam allowance or reverse image if necessary for your favorite method of applique. QUILT ASSEMBLY Refer to quilt photo for placement of fabrics. Boot Block Use your favorite method of applique to attach a shade boot to a cream shade 12½" square to complete a Boot Block. Repeat to create 4 Boot Blocks. Nine-Patch Block Sew 5 assorted print 4½" squares and 4 cream shade 4½" squares together to create a Nine-Patch A Block. Repeat to create 12 Nine- Patch A Blocks. Sew 4 assorted print 4½" squares and 5 cream shade 4½" squares together to create a Nine-Patch B Block. Repeat to create 9 Nine- Patch B Blocks. CUTTING REQUIREMENTS Please read instructions first before cutting. Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Nine-Patch A Block Nine-Patch B Block Fat Quarter Stack Cut squares 4½" x 4½" in the corresponding number from each of the following assorted prints: 8 tan main, 5 turquoise main, 5 gray scene 10 turquoise scene, 4 gold saddle blanket 4 gray saddle blanket, 10 turquoise saddle blanket 9 black tack, 9 gray tack, 4-turquoise tack, 10 black words 9 brown words, 9 tan words Gold Scene Cut 8 strips 6½" x WOF for Border 2. Gold Saddle Blanket Cut 7 strips 2½" x WOF for Border 1. Cream Shade Cut 12 strips 4½" x WOF. Cut the strips into 93 squares 4½" x 4½". Cut 2 strips 12½" x WOF. Cut the strips into 4 squares 12½" x 12½". Quilt Center Assembly Refer to the Quilt Center diagram for placement of the Boot and Nine-Patch A and B Blocks. Lay out blocks in 5 rows of 5 blocks. Sew rows together to complete the center of the quilt. Borders Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew border strips together end to end if necessary to get the length needed. Sew side borders first. Border 1 Side borders should be 60½". Top and bottom borders should be 64½". Border 2 Side borders should be 64½". Top and bottom borders should be 76½". Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind with your favorite Penny Rose fabric from the Sundown Collection. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt.
