Congratulations to Joy Agnew, Lorrie Havens, Cristy Marxsen, Kathy Mekemson, and Linda Rhoades for bringing home BEST OF SHOW Division ribbons from our County Fair. Kathy Mekemson had three of those pretty purple awards and the High Points Over All Beginner Class winner with her 9 quilts all of which won something. Other high scorers were a Best of Class for Marilyn Caudron, Lorrie Havens, Cristy Marxsen (and two Best of Divisions), Kathy again, two for Flo Sousa, four to Beth Stanton,, and one to Carolyn Villars. Judges Awards went to Beth and Carolyn as well. Cristy, Beth, and Marilyn Caudron also won theme ribbons. Of the 280 quilts entered in the fair, our guild entered at least 45 of the winners. A big thank you from Kathy Lee for all the volunteer hours, and a mea culpa if your award is listed incorrectly. JANE TENORIO-COSCARELLI continued the string of outstanding speakers our guild features. Jane has written children s books, published patterns, won prizes, and designed fabric with an ethnic flair. All of her products can be found on her web site, quarterinchpublishing.com. But best of all, Jane kept us laughing with her slide show of Quilt-a-beasts our embellished garments, our shopping foibles, our fabric stashes, our seriously comfortable shoes. We could all identify with the photos Jane had taken at various quilt shows, thankful she hadn t seen or photographed us! One of her most memorable tips was keeping a baggie or small box of sewing utensils and a hand sewing project handy beside every chair, and even in her car, in case of a breakdown she can always finish a section or block while she waits for roadside service. 2 Debbie Stefan made this stunning rock climber for her son Jeff. Great value contrast! Flo Souza made this Twisted Ribbon design all from one fabric for the rest home. Corrinne Baker finished this UFO from batiks, with prairie points border. Not pictured is her pheasant panel quilt. Kathy Mekemson and her granddaughter had some beauties to show off. Linda Rhoades designed these falling leaves and used it for her Friendship Squares project. Did you make a block? Lorrie Havens made two of these delightful heart and vine patterns, one for the auction, and one for a friend.. Joy Agnew embroidered and set these charming Over the river and through the woods blocks for her home. Cathy Crase went through Judy Sisneros book four times to get her Patchwork Pizazz right. Workshop June 10th. Sandi Mogg shows off her on point pastel tablecloth, made for herself. Quietly beautiful. Mel Bunge had two auction quilts ready, and this Flower and Vine for herself. Way to go, Mel! Harriet McGlothlin made this lovely Acorn Quilt on commission for the Acorn Lodge, on our Home tour last year. Icky Orr put this Cicely Mary Barker fairy panel together for the auction. It will win a little girl s heart for sure. Joyce Gwinner made these 4 apples and a worm for the upcoming auction. Can I place the first bid?

PICNIC IN JULY NEW LOCATION & TIME Our annual picnic will be held at the Wrightwood Country Club s Clubhouse on Tues. July 14, No need to bring a chair this time as tables and chairs will be set up for us! Our program will be outside on the deck, and due to diminishing light we will begin a little earlier, at 5:30. Directions to 1287 Oriole Road. For those of you coming from out of town, make a left on Willow (which is the street directly across from the POST OFFICE). Drive straight up to the club. Make a right turn, and you will find parking on the left in the upper parking lot. The clubhouse is adjacent to the parking lot. Bring a flashlight, jacket, and something delicious for the potluck. DEBBIE STEPHAN volunteered to take charge of the Mini Quilt Auction at Mountaineer Days in July. Lots of small quilts needed! And volunteers in 2 hour increments. ANDREA TRULL is looking for workers during the 2 weekends of the Quilter s Run in July at her quilt shop. She will pay by the hour or in shop credit. The OPPORTUNITY QUILT has been out and about, bringing in $154 donated to the Wrightwood Fire Station on Fire Awareness Day, and over $130 at the Redlands Home Tour. Laura Green needs volunteers to sit with the quilt at Andrea s during one day of the Quilter s Run, July 12th. NEW MEMBER BETTY ANN FUDULA won the raffle last meeting. Look for her taking photos at the June Meeting for publicity and the newsletter, bless her! BLOCK OF QUARTER winnings were divided between Joanne Tschantre, Marion Hall and Cathy Crase.. Ca DEADLINE JULY 1st Applications must be received by July 15th to insure your spot. Ivitations will be mailed to outside vendors directly after the deadline. Please use a white cloth to the floor on each table-all backstock out of view under table, not behind you. NO Merchandise in the aisle. Max 2 people, 2 chairs at each table. All Guild member vendors will be required to assist with setup and tear down of all tables on the day of the boutique and stay until the building is in the same condition as we found it. No exceptions. Guildmember vendors are also required to serve on the boutique Committee. Resonsibilities include attending committee meetings if asked and helping to make the homeowner gifts. To be excused from the committee responsibilities you may pay the non-member fee for your table. See above.
