We re especially appreciative to the husbands, children, and grandchildren and friends of guild members who helped set up and take down. Gary, our auctioneer, did an outstanding job as usual we just love him! We took in $3075 before expenses, compared to the $2720 we took in last year. Thanks to all who donated the beautiful quilts. We even had our own cheering section from the Ogilve family. They really encouraged the bids to go up. Congratulations to the Ribbon Winning Quilts: Most Wrightwood AND Viewer s Choice The Tuesday Strippers (which brought in a whopping $440) Best Use of Color Christy Close Best Children s Harriet McGlothlin Most Patriotic Linda Barrett Chairman s Choice Material Girls Christy and Kandi did an excellent job of making sure everything ran smoothly...thanks to both for all of your hard work. Now we can put all our efforts into the Holiday Home Tour which will be here before we know it! Rose can use all the help she can get, so please support her. There is plenty to do before the actual day of the tour, so check with Rose to see how you can help. For those of you who missed the July Potluck meeting at the Country Club, you missed a real treat. The weather was perfect, we were serenaded by the talented John Burcher, and as always, the food was excellent. A special thanks to Rose for also setting this up for us at the Club. It is so much nicer than Grassy Hollow. Joy, Charlotte and Rose also bought the wine and hors d oeuvres for the early cocktail hour. Thanks, that was a nice touch. Sue Tumbleson of Cozy Quilt n came up from Apple Valley with some beautiful fabrics and patterns for sale, and brought finished tops to show you how they would look when they are done. I believe they are the last remaining quilt shop in the High Desert, so we really need to support them. We celebrated the PNQG 25th Anniversary by recognizing the 3 remaining founders of the guild, Charlotte Ketcheside, Rose Burcher and Linda Rhoades. They were presented with a Jim Shore bird house with a plaque attached. All members present received a 25 year anniversary pin.

2 FIRST LADIES: Charlotte Ketcheside, Rose Burcher and Linda Rhoades, founding members of Pine Needles Quilt Guild 25 years ago. They were given Jim Shore birdhouses with a plaque awards. Marlene Bowman with a nifty poem freshly quilted. She had another but was too blurry a photo to print. Lorrie Havens and a Pat Blair design? Nice Kitty. Lorrie Havens has been keeping her Bernina pedal to the metal since school let out. PRESIDENT S MESSAGE (Cont. from front page) If you were not present and would like one, stop by the sign-in desk at the August meeting and ask Carol or Darlene for one. Don t forget that the President s Challenge quilts are due at our October meeting. If you are just getting started and need a reminder of the list of challenges, they can be found in the December 2009 or April 2010 Dispatcher, or on our website. A minimum of 4 items off the list must be incorporated into your quilt. A special award will be given to anyone that utilizes all 14 challenges. Bring some extra money to our August meeting if you are interested in purchasing fabric that is other than cotton. There are beautiful corduroys, rayons, and silks and more. CHEAP! Like $8.00 for almost a full bolt. You can t buy a yard of these for that price. Prez Debbie Antoinette Todd with the winning ribbons from the Material Girls auction quilt. CANCER KID CAMP QUILTS NEEDED: Nancy Fogo is once again collecting quilts for the camp to be Sept this year. She has some quilts already, but usually needs around 100. AUGUST MEETING: Trunk show of 55 years of quilting by Patricia Beavers. SEPT. will be Patricia Combs, with a Celtic Illusion workshop. ART QUILT TECHNIQUES small group forming Free workshops will be held on the last Sat. of each month at Carolyn Villar s home in Apple Valley. Ca DEADLINE August 1st Applications must be received by August 15th to insure your spot. Invitations will be mailed to outside vendors directly after the deadline. Please use a white cloth to the floor on each table-all backstock out of view under table, not behind you. NO merchandise in the aisle. Max 2 people, 2 chairs at each table. All Guild member vendors will be required to assist with setup and tear down of all tables on the day of the boutique and stay until the building is in the same condition as we found it. No exceptions. Guild member vendors are also required to serve on the boutique Committee. Resonsibilities include attending committee meetings if asked and helping to make the homeowner gifts. To be excused from the committee responsibilities you may pay the non-member fee for your table. See above.
