Fall is an exciting time but also sometimes when we think of all the events coming up like thanksgiving and Xmas (omg, not again) and as much as we enjoy it all, the planning that we have to do is somewhat overwhelming. I don t know about you but the older I get, the more I worry... That s why I enjoy quilting so much because it has a calming influence...just creating planning and learning about new techniques is something that keeps me on an even keel. Judging from all the show and tell at the last meeting many of the members perhaps feel this way too. Looking forward to hearing our speaker for this month, Beth Cameron from Ottawa... the domestic goddess. I always like hearing about new ideas and techniques... We also have UFO on Oct 20th...hope you can join us!! We will be picking our letter for the Xmas exchange that takes place at our December pot luck. See you at the meeting Jan 1

5 LIBRARY The library will be open from 6:30-7:00 and for 20 minutes during the break at each Guild meeting. Each member can take out 5 books at a time but please return them the following month. There is a $2.00 per month charge for late returns and that charge is doubled monthly. If there are any books that you would like the library to buy, please let us know and we will do our best to purchase them. See you in October. 5

6 CUDDLE QUILTS Tuesday, October 16th - 9:30 am - 2 :30 pm. Next Cuddle quilts day is Tuesday, November 20th Potluck** Place -- Harmony Baptist Church, 1763 Upper James Street above Rymal Rd., across from the Egg and I Restaurant. CUDDLE QUILTS Supplies Needed--- A project to work on, or a kit will be available for you. Bring your sewing machine if you wish. We supply a cutting station (with cutting boards and rotary cutters), plus irons and ironing boards. We usually have hand sewing to be done, so if you don't want to bring your machine you don't have to. We will be bringing quilting kits to the Guild Meetings for those of you that can't make it out on Cuddle Quilt day. So come see us at the back of the room. If you are making your own quilt for Cuddle Quilts, please remember that 100 % cotton is appreciated. If you need batting or backing to finish your quilt please Pam Smith. I will bring it to the Guild Meetings for you. PLACEMATS---If you are making placemats the size is 18.5 x Brenda Lupton and Pam Smith are collecting them until the December Meeting. 6

8 PUBLICITY & ARCHIVES We are advertising for new members and need your help! Posters and bookmarks have been printed. We need your help with the poster distribution...community bulletin boards at grocery stores, coffee shops, quilt stores or churches would be ideal locations for our posters. We have already distributed posters to Cherished Pieces, The Quilt Rack, Mary Maxim s and Fabricland. We are hoping to advertise in Community Newspapers and The Spectator.
