1501 Funky Chickens Table Runner by Linda Tellesbo I found this fabric at Aunt Mary's Quilt Shop in Smokey Point. My kitchen theme is chickens, so I had to make a table runner!! Machine pieced. Machine quilted. Credit: Judy Niemeyer pattern, ne for all Seasons
1502 Happy Fourth! by Lisa Jenni Several years ago, at IQA in Houston, I saw an historic School House quilt. I loved the alternating block and took pictures in order to figure out the pattern. Well, I replicated the block, but it turned out way too big. Finally this year, the idea how to add more to the single block came upon me just in time for Fourth of July. Machine pieced. Hand and machine quilted. Credit: riginal design based on a historic School House quilt.
1503 Memories of Mama by April Zemke This pillow was created from blouses worn by my mother, who passed away suddenly in June of I used fabric and trims from her white blouses and a vintage silk nightgown that I found in her cedar chest. Most of the fabrics were polyester or blends, so I "created" the fabrics by stippling and using a twin needle. The center photo was taken on her 80th birthday with her favorite companion, Spot. We miss you, Mama! Machine pieced. Machine quilted.
1504 Nashita by Heather Teachout I made this reversible coat to wear over my belly dance costumes before I go on stage to perform. It is machine pieced and free-motion quilted and hand appliquéd and beaded.
1505 Hmong the Molas by Gloria Pritchett Using Lois Ericson's "It's a Wrap, I combine purchased hand appliquéd Molas & Hmong designs, machine embroidery, piecing in an original fabric lay out, machine quilting and embellishment. Hand and machine pieced. Hand appliquéd. Machine quilted. Credit: Lois Ericson's "It's a Wrap," purchased Molas & Hmong appliques, Molas Nouveas machine embroidery pattern by Laura's Sewing Studio
1506 Starry Nights by Gloria Pritchett The jacket was entered into the 2010 Hoffman Challenge. Though it did not win any prizes, it was chosen for the traveling trunk show and arrived "home' in time for our quilt show. Machine pieced. Machine quilted. Credit: 2010 Hoffman Challenge fabrics, Burda pattern #7705
1507 Jacket with Twisted Ribbon Threadplay by Arlette Wentz A twisted ribbon of decorative threads embellishes this jacket, traveling across the back, over the shoulder and down the front. The lacy ribbon is created from blue and green rayon embroidery thread using free-motion zigzag stitches. Machine pieced. Machine appliquéd. Machine quilted. Credit: Inspired by the book Threadplay by Libby Lehman.
1508 Leaves and Trees Bag by Arlette Wentz This large tote bag is made from several class project UF's featuring machine embellishing techniques, using both free-motion and digital embroidery. It is convenient to have samples of several interesting techniques to promote sewing groups where I also belong. The size is suitable to carry an 18" rotary mat which rotates, plus many class supplies. Machine pieced. Machine appliquéd. Machine quilted.
1509 To the Point Sweatshirt Jacket by Arlette Wentz This garment began as a sweatshirt and became an embellished cardigan jacket with piping and bias-wrapped edges. A shattered shape on the back spills over the shoulders. It began with 2 complementary fabrics in an 8" circle. By cutting, spreading and embellishing with thread and beads, a striking design emerges. Machine pieced. Machine appliquéd. Machine quilted. Credit: Inspired from a class by Larken Van Horn.
1510 Vortex Purple Jacket by Arlette Wentz This purple sweatshirt took on a new life with the addition of piping and bias-wrapped edges to become a cardigan. Two hexagon-shaped vortex quilted panels are stitched to front and back with a piped edge. Hand-stitched beads swirl out from the embroidered center for catchy eye appeal. Machine pieced. Machine appliquéd. Machine quilted. Credit: Vortex quilt technique learned in a MEW class taught by Kay Moore.
1601 Non-Voting - Youth Quilter Sydney's Patches by Sydney Sanford This is Sydney's (age 9) first solo quilt. All the fabrics are from Grammie's past quilts made for her six grandchildren. Machine pieced. Machine quilted. Quilted by: Toni Nicholes (Grammie)
