1 Our youth football mission statement is to grow, support and promote youth football through fair play, health/ wellness and academics and we did just that in 2008 The past few years the Vikings have really grown their youth football outreach and the NFL appreciates that as we introduce the great sport of football to the next generation of NFL stars. Jerry Horowitz, NFL Director of Youth Tackle Football YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMPS In 2008, more than 1,000 young people were touched by our Vikings Youth Football programming. Our Junior Player Development (J.P.D.) camps, which are designed to introduce tackle football to youngsters 12-14, touched more than 600 children and our collaboration with the Minnesota High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) allowed us to reach hundreds more in Greater Minnesota. Some players even hosted or assisted at Youth Football Camps, including: MATT BIRK, CHAD GREENWAY, BRYANT McKINNIE and ADRIAN PETERSON. BRYANT McKINNIE coached up the offensive linemen and sported a Cooper Football t-shirt to support our J.P.D. Camp at Cooper High school. Pro Scout JEFF ROBINSON taught the proper way to run a route at our North J.P.D. Camp. At the J.P.D. Camp at Griffi n Stadium in St. Paul, a youth running back worked on ball security. 20 USA FOOTBALL COACHING SCHOOL CHAD GREENWAY In June, the Vikings partnered with USA Football for a Youth Coaching School at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN. More than 100 youth coaches participated and enjoyed hearing CHAD GREENWAY S presentation on the joy of learning to play the game and the life lessons that it teaches. EQUIPMENT AND FIELD GRANTS In 2008, through the NFL Youth Football Fund and LISC (Local Initiative Support Corporation), the Vikings were able to bring $200,000 toward the installation of synthetic turf at the newly remodeled Duluth Heritage Sports Complex. These grants are very competitive but the Vikings have been able to help secure fi ve such grants over the past ten years. The program allows for matching grants up to $200,000 for synthetic turf or capital improvement projects including fi eld surface grants and general fi eld support. For more information go to nfl yff.org. Two Minnesota programs Vessey Academy and Brooklyn Park Athletic Association received USA Football equipment grants in For more information visit usafootball.com.

3 The Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders (MVC) and Viktor the Viking are charged with energizing passionate Vikings fans on Sundays. But their contribution and commitment aren t limited to game day or a football fi eld these talented women and Viktor spend time in the community, appearing at over 300 events each year. The MVC and Viktor continued to be in demand for corporate, community and charity events around the state and beyond. This commitment has even crossed borders with trips to support our American troops in Iraq, Japan and other countries as well as work with International dance and cheer teams in Mexico. Aside from leading cheers on game day and community involvement, the MVC also serve as role models for hundreds of young ladies ages 5-18 through their Junior and Senior Cheerleading Programs, as well as the All- Star Team. Each program is specifi c to the age group and all participants gain invaluable experience from one-on-one coaching by the MVC. Other great perks include MVC autographs, photos, apparel and tickets to a Vikings game. The highlight, however, is the opportunity to cheer in front of 64,000 Vikings fans alongside the best cheerleaders in the NFL. The MVC alumni are active in supporting the current MVC, the Vikings and the community as well. The A* Team, consisting of alumni MVC, perform on the plaza on game day and have helped support Vikings events. The alumni MVC celebrated their offi cial 25th season in These women loved their time on the team and are proud to stay involved in this special way. However, it s just a sampling of how we continue to meld with the state of Minnesota. DONATION ITEMS The Minnesota Vikings popularity allows thousands of opportunities for charities to benefit from the team s success. The request must be from within the five-state area of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota or South Dakota.
