1 A web-based publication of the Automobile Dealers Association of North Dakota WAHPETON DEALER ELECTED ADAND CHAIRMAN Joel Sirek, General Manager, Smith Motors, Wahpeton, was elected Chairman of the Automobile Dealers Association of North Dakota during our organization s 2012 Conference held in Bismarck. He has been a member of the ADAND Board of Directors since He is a second-generation Chairman, following in the footsteps of his father Stan Sirek, who was ADAND Chairman in Joel attended Wahpeton High School and North Dakota State College of Science. In 1987 he joined his father, Stan, at Smith Motors in Wahpeton, the family-owned business. Smith Motors handles Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC. Joel is a board member for the Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC line meeting groups. He is also a past board member for the Joel Sirek Chevrolet-Heartland Dealer Association. He currently serves as a board member for the North Dakota State College of Science Alumni Foundation, and for the City Economic Development Committee. 2 Page 2 WILHELM BECOMES ADAND CHAIRMAN-ELECT Rod Wilhelm, President, Don Wilhelm Inc., Jamestown, was elected Chairman-Elect of the Automobile Dealers Association of North Dakota during our association s annual conference held in Bismarck. Born in Bismarck, Rod graduated from Jamestown High School, attended Mary College, Bismarck, and earned a BA in business administration from Jamestown College. Although he marks his official start at Don Wilhelm Inc. in 1974, from childhood Rod spent his free time at the dealership, as did his brothers Jeff and Dan. Over the years, he worked in various capacities throughout the dealership, including recon, oil change, and vehicle sales. Rod Wilhelm Don Wilhelm Inc. (Chevrolet Buick GMC) is a family-owned corporation that Rod s father Don formed in 1961 as an Olds and Cadillac dealership. Don himself started in the auto industry over 60 years ago as a clean-up boy, eventually working his way to ownership of several family dealerships. Don Wilhelm Inc. added the GMC line in 1984 and the Chevrolet and Buick in Rod s late brother Dan and Don operated Wilhelm Inc. (Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Mazda and Saturn) in Bismarck until Brother Jeff Wilhelm works alongside Rod in Jamestown, and he and sister Lisa Lindberg are Rod s business partners in Don Wilhelm Inc. Don Wilhelm Inc. is eagerly anticipating the completion of a GM Facility Image remodel this winter. Rod is a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association, Basilica of St. James Catholic Church, Elks, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, Jamestown College Booster Club, Jamestown Classic Car Club, James Valley Street Machines, Ducks Unlimited, and Roughrider Chevrolet Club. He is also a lifetime member of the North Dakota Buffalo Museum and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Rod has two grown children Jeremy Wilhelm, 34, Omaha, Nebraska, and Shawn Krebsbach, 28, Moorhead, Minnesota. Rod and his wife Sandy reside in Jamestown.

3 Page 3 ADAND WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER Kathleen Gaddie, Minot, ND, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Automobile Dealers Association of North Dakota. She and her husband Michael Gaddie are Dealer/Operators of Ryan Family Dealerships, with locations in Minot (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Honda), Bismarck (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM), and Williston (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Honda). Kathleen graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks, ND, in 1967, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English, Speech and Theater at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, in She spent the next 12 years working in the public school system of East Grand Forks. In 1983, Kathleen s father, ADAND Past Chairman James Ryan, Kathleen Gaddie invited Kathleen and Michael to join him in the Minot Chevrolet dealership he had purchased 10 years earlier. They accepted the offer and moved to Minot. After taking a couple of years to settle their family of three young children, Kathleen started working at the dealership in Kathleen started as a customer satisfaction coordinator for a year, then became marketing manager, and later sales manager. In 1996 Chevrolet recognized her as the dealer at Jim Ryan Chevrolet, Inc., and in 1998 Jim Ryan retired and left the day-to-day operations to Kathleen. Between 2003 and 2010, Kathleen and Michael went on to purchase 4 additional dealerships in Minot, Williston, and Bismarck, and form the Ryan Family Dealerships entity. Kathleen is a board member of the Minot Vocational Adjustment Workshop, the Minot Catholic Schools Foundation Board, the Minot Area Development Corporation, and the Trinity Health Foundation. She is a former member of the North Dakota Economic Development Foundation (by appointment of the Governor) and the St. Joseph s Community Health Foundation. In 2005, Kathleen received the Governor's Choice for Economic Development Volunteer Developer of the Year Award. Kathleen also serves on the Board of Regents for Minot State University and is a Trustee for the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. She is a 15-year member of PEO, an organization that champions women in furthering their education, and is Co- Chair of the General Motors Women Dealer Advisory Council. In 2010, Kathleen was named one of four regional finalists for the 2010 TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year award. In 2012, she was awarded the Minot Chamber of Commerce Business Stewardship Award. Kathleen and Michael live in Minot and have three children: Christopher Gaddie, Mary Prough, and John Gaddie. They have six grandchildren.
