2 Prologue - FIRST OF ALL... Lady s and Gents, please let us introduce you to: the wonderful Broken Brass Ensemble Technical and Hospitality rider! First things first: thanks for having us! We re really excited and looking forward to playing at your festival, venue, hall, church, farm or whatever your plans are. This rider is brand spanking new, because we ve released a new album. You can find Astonishing Tales From Beyond The Brass Dimension everywhere on the web (check it out and start dancing!). We know that people like yourselves do an amazing job taking care of us and going out of your way making sure everything is taking care. Thanx! To make sure you can do your job the best and most fun way possible, we ve written down all the information you need from us in a three chapter story. Enjoy! Let s start with the important stuff. Good luck with the pre-production and we ll see you soon!

3 Chapter ONE - SOUND Let s start with the technical information. We won t be bringing a sound engineer to the show. So it would be nice if you, the highly appreciated and awesome sound / FOH-engineer, could be there to provide the horns, percussion and drums with the big sound they so rightfully deserve, fully utilizing your sound system. As for the soundcheck, we would like to have a minimum of 20 minutes on stage to make sure everything sounds just fine. We need the same amount of time to set up. If this isn t possible in any way, please let us know, so we can help out and prepare. HORNS All the the horns are provided with own clip-on microphones from DPA (4099). Yes, we know that makes you happy :). The horn players will run there DPA through there own effect pedalboard with DI. Effects will be like pitchshifters, octavers, delays and more of those amazing sounds. You ll be surprised, it sounds damn good. In some situations we won t be using effects, it depends on the situation, so please ask us before show ;)) So in a nutshell: We ll be using our own mics, XLR s and effects, the only thing that s needs to be done is to connect your XLR to our DI (Radial Voco-Loco). If you can fix some power sockets at the front of the stage to plug everything in, you re our hero! SOUSAPHONE Our sousaphone player is a freaking wildman from Antarctica. He likes to kill polar bears with his bare hands. True story. Seeing his hobby isn t so good for the polar bear population, he decided to release his energy through creating the biggest sound possible. That s why he ll be playing the sousaphone through a bass amplifier (with DI). It would be amazing if you can help him with some power at his spot on stage. And be careful! DRUMS & PERCUSSION The drums and percussion need to be amplified as well, but we ll leave that to your, the trustworthy and reliable soundman, because we don t have any mics for that. We ve put some standard mics on the list, but if you ve got fancier / better / expensive stuff, let s go for it! When we play a show on a stage, our drummer prefers sitting down. So if you have a drum riser, that would be awesome (no worries, he s not afraid of heights). If you really want to make him happy, you should give him a drum riser on wheels, so he can set up the drums before the show in the backstage. He ll be your friend forever. Sometimes he s using a samplepad, so a mono DI would be very nice! To make every show extra special we ll be bringing our Brazilian percussionist. He plays on just about everything: the congas, timba, djembe, small percussion like shakers, woodblock, tambourines and other dangerously awesome stuff. We ve put five channels on the list for him, but if you d like to use more, feel free!

4 SINGING & JOKING We d really appreciate it if we could get at least five mics for the vocals (we actually do some singing sometimes. Really!) and we ll be using a few mics for presentation and joking around. Would you be so kind to set up all the mics in a straight line at the front stage? Thanks! Sometimes one of the guys will sing a little out of tune; you re free to use as much as autotune and other vocal processing as it needs to make it audible. MONITORS For the monitor and stage sound boss: if we can start sound checking with the set up that s on our standard monitor list, everything will be awesome! We like to aim for an open and definable sound. And please, don t start too loud. PS: if one of the band members asks for more audience on the monitors during the soundcheck, just switch off his monitor. LIGHTS & SHOW For the one who rules the lights: it s going to be an energetic and dynamic show. Franticly moving band on stage, people acting crazy, doing dance-offs, that kind of funky behavior. So you can go all out with the light show! Get crazy! Go for it! It would be even more amazing if you could do something special when the guys are doing the solos. If you d like to know when these solos will be played exactly, just ask us! No big deal, we don t mind explaining. We just want the show to be the coolest ever. If you have confetti, Indian color explosions or flame throwers at your disposal: NICE! Please no foam and bubbles on stage. It would ruin our instruments and that would be a shame, right? And there is one other problem with horns: since they work with air flow, too much smoke on stage will take our breath away and kill our sound. No smoke isn t an option if we want an awesome light show, but please be careful with the amount of smoke on stage. Thank you! Should there be room for us to hang up our backdrop (2,5mtr x 2mtr), that would be amazing. If you ve got a humongous stage for us to play on, we can even bring a bigger one.

8 Chapter TWO - CATERING. CARE. FOOD. DRINKS. MERCH. SLEEP. LOVE. NICENESS. All of the above sounds really good to us! It all starts with a friendly hello and a welcoming smile, but sufficient amounts of water, sodas, beer, snacks and fruit for at least 10 people will be greatly appreciated! Please have some bottled water on stage too. If you have good coffee available: amazing! Some sandwiches or pizza after the show would also be really cool (playing makes you tired!). And if you could provide a fruit pie and a red rose for our single trumpet player Joel, you ll definitely be the best hospitality chick/dude of the year and an all round hero. If we re supposed to be at your beautiful venue/festival around dinner time, it would we appreciate a warm meal. When it comes to food we re not that picky, but we would really really appreciate a healthy and nutritious meal, for at least 8 people. If possible, please no pasta, pizza or other type of fast food. We would love some meat though! We re no vegetarians. If you won t be able to make this happen, we don t mind getting a meal somewhere ourselves. We can work with a buy-out of euro/gbp each. As if we haven t been asking enough just yet (sorry!), could we maybe get our own dressing room? That gives us a little more space to get dressed. You want us to look flashy and fabulous on stage, don t you? Thank you! If possible, some towels would be nice. We tend to get a little sweaty. ROOMING If case we have to stay for the night (slumber party! pillow fights!) we'd really appreciate 4x twin rooms (with seperate beds). Sometimes 5x twin rooms, depending on if we're bringing the tourmanager. We want to be at our best at every show and a good night's rest is really important. MERCHANDISE Of course we're bringing merchandise. Cd's, vinyl, t-shirts etc. Everything is really awesome and as you probably know, selling merchandise is a big part of making tours and recording records financially possible. So we want to sell our merchandise freely at the performance at no cost for us or our agent. If you have a table available that would be great, and if the merchandise selling location is near the entrance or in a well positioned area you're the best! Chapter THREE - PUT UP A PARKING LOT Sorry, one last thing. Call it the happy ending. Since we re a pretty big band and travel with more than one car (or a big crew van), it would be really great if we can park near the festival site, venue or stage. Could you please let our production assistant know where we can park our cars? For the Netherlands: we would like to have 2 cars with equipment as close to the stage as possible. And room for 2 more cars at the parking lot. All other countries: we ll be traveling with a big ass crew van, more than 7 meters long and it won t fit in a parking garage.
