1 SECTION FUEL OIL SYSTEM (PLUMBING) PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 SUMMARY A. Related Sections: Excavating, Backfilling, and Compaction for Utilities Cast-In-Place Concrete Piping (Plumbing). 4. Division 16 - Electrical SUBMITTALS A. Submit properly identified manufacturer's catalog cuts and technical data before starting work, including, but not limited to, the following: 1. Storage Tanks: Manufacturer's data, catalog cuts. 2. Accessories, Appurtenances, and Controls: Catalog cuts. 3. Pumps: Catalog cuts and performance characteristics. B. Shop Drawings: Submit complete shop drawings for A/E's review showing necessary plans, details, sections, manufacturer's recommendations, and explanatory notes to indicate compliance with the requirements of this section QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Tank Installer: Recognized by the tank manufacturer as proficient in fuel systems installation. B. Tank Manufacturer: Approve, in writing, the designation of the aboveground tank installer. C. Tank and tie downs shall be able to withstand wind velocity pressures according to American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) D. Rigidly anchor units to roof slab to withstand wind velocities determined By American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Project No. SPECIFICATION GUIDELINES

Comply with calculations, signed and sealed by a Florida registered professional engineer, establishing wind velocity pressure values for the specific project according to ASCE 7-98 using a map wind speed of 146 mph, exposure category "C", and a wind load importance factor of WARRANTY A. Aboveground Storage Tank: Guarantee period of 30 years against internal or external corrosion effects. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 EQUIPMENT A. Aboveground Storage Tanks: 1. Steel reinforced 6 inch concrete between two 10 gage steel walls. UL primary tank, bladder enclosed, and weather resistant coating at outer tank with tie downs. Label tanks with product, size, manufacturer, and FLAMMABLE. By B.R.E. Products Inc., Guardian Containment, Inc., or Convault. B. Packaged Day Tank and Pump System: 1. Day tank system Model SFT50A with press-to-test button, inside epoxy coating, pre-piped plumbing, pre-connected wiring, 1/3 hp bronze gear pump, heavy gage steel tank and cover, float switch, control panel with fuel level gage and hand pump. Use where transfer pumps are not required. 2. Day tank system Model SFT50A with press to test button, inside epoxy coating, pre-piped plumbing, heavy gage steel tank and cover, float switch, control panel with fuel level gage. Use where transfer pumps are required. 3. Approved Manufacturers: Simplex, Inc. or PYCO, Inc. C. Fuel Oil Pumps: 1. Preferred utilities or equivalent light oil pump sets, size, and characteristics as shown on drawings. 2. Pumps shall be of the positive displacement, gear type with cast iron bodies. Mount on a heavy, 1 piece structural steel channel base and connected through a Project No. SPECIFICATION GUIDELINES

3 flexible coupling, provided with a steel guard. Pump model number: L Controller shall be enclosed in a NEMA-1 cabinet and shall contain HAND-OFF-AUTOMATIC switches, magnetic starters, circuit breakers, pump running and alarm indicator lights, and alternator with malfunction lag pump control for intermittent operation. D. Fuel Oil System Valves: 1. Gate Valves: a. All bronze construction with union bonnet, rising stem, double wedge disc and threaded ends, 200 psi WOG. b. Manufacturers: Crane 430UB, or accepted equivalent. 2. Check Valves: a. Vertical: 1) Iron body, bronze trim, threaded ends, springloaded 250 psi WOG, non-shock. 2) Manufacturers: Mueller 203AP, or accepted equivalent. b. Horizontal: E. Liquid Level Gage: 1) Swing check, all bronze construction, regroundable bronze disc, Y pattern, threaded ends, 200 psi WOG, non-shock. 2) Manufacturers: Crane 3C, or accepted equivalent. 1. Gaging System: a. Hydraulic type, UL listed, remote reading, temperature compensated, fully automatic and calibrated at 100 gallon increments, complete with the following: 1) Dial indicator. 2) Adjustable check pointer. 3) Connecting tubing. 4) Mounting bracket. 4 5) High-low level indicating switch for audible alarm on low oil level. b. Manufacturers: Preferred Utilities Series TG-HY, or accepted equivalent. F. Piping Details, Venting, and Valving: 1. Supply Pipe: Provide in-line filter. 2. Refer to drawings for additional detail requirements. G. Preferred Utilities or accepted equivalent tank level control No.LC-40-4 float operated, 24 inch differential setting, 150 pressure rating, UL listed all brass parts with Buna-N floats. Level control shall provide both low and high level control and alarm functions. Integrate level control with control center for fuel pumps. Use where transfer pumps are required. H. Tank Fittings: 1. Vent Protectors: Preferred Utilities or accepted equivalent galvanized cast iron, threaded, 2 inches for underground tank. 2. Preferred Utilities or accepted equivalent fill connection type W, watertight cast iron hot dipped galvanized, composition gasket, 4 inch size. Furnish 1 operating tool. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. Anchorage: According to applicable building codes and in consideration of local ground conditions, as shown on the accepted shop drawings, as specified in this section, and as detailed on drawings. B. Required Tank Openings: Locate on centerline of shell according with manufacturer's recommendations and accepted Shop Drawings FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Tank Leak Test: Test pressure 5 psi. B. Piping System Leak Test: Project No. SPECIFICATION GUIDELINES
