The best thing you can do this summer to prepare for AP Studio Art is to Still-life painting by Mr. Treacy keep drawing, painting, collaging and anything else you can think of so you don t lose any skills that you learned during your previous art classes. Anything that you create over the summer will make your school year less stressful. Summer Assignment Part 1: Learn about the AP Studio Art Portfolio (you will need internet access for this portion) Read the AP Studio Art Brochure digitalservices/pdf/ap/ap-studio-art-brochure.pdf Visit (or search for AP studio art drawing samples OR AP studio art 2-D design samples in Google). Use your internet research to answer the following questions: 1. What is the difference between the AP Studio Art Drawing Test vs. the AP Studio Art 2-D Design? What are some examples Which option do you think would be best for you? 2. What are the three sections of the the AP Studio Art portfolio? (Hint: It s the same three sections for Drawing or 2-D Design). How do the three sections of the AP Art portfolio differ? 3.What is one question you have about the AP Studio Art test?
2 4. Visit all of the student sample portfolios at the link on page 1. Pick at least two to analyze in order to understand the rationale behind their AP score. The more portfolios you study, the better you will understand how the portfolios are scored by College Board. Below are tons of possible projects that you could complete in your sketchbook or on art paper... Complete at least five drawings from the prompts below, or make up your own projects to do in your sketchbook. Bring them the first day of class this fall. You can do it! Just think of me working hard on my own art this summer too and we can all cheer each other on. Mr. Treacy at if you re stuck or want to show me what you ve been working on! Visit Art-Glossary-Terms-PA-PZ.html if you are confused about any of the art terms I use and look up their definitions!
