3 paraline drawings stage one Axonometric Dimetric Isometric Trimetric For the following exercise, I demonstrated the representation of paraline drawings through a digital format in iillustrator, while including a spatial edges and grey values for tone. 3

5 cube drawings As an exercise, I experimented with three methods to draw cubes, which include the top and bottom intersection method, as well as the top left corner method. I found the top intersection method the easiest to grasp, while the bottom intersection method was the one I struggled with the most. 5
6 cube drawings I also found the top left corner method quite tricky, since my perspective seemed quite off as I attemped to use it to draw accurate cubes. 6
7 cube drawings As a next step, I experimented with different marker weights and values as I added a spatial edge to my drawings. This time around, I used the top intersection method, since it was the method that I favoured. I also found that the thinner the marker, the easier it was for me to control my line work, creating a more accurate cube. 7
8 cube drawings In the next phase of my cube drawings, I experimented with grey marker as tone, while adding a spatial edge as well. I made sure to layer on the surface to achieve a contrast between the different sides of the cubes. 8
9 hexahedral drawings The objective of the hexahedron drawings was to use the method of bisection and projection to develop proportional ratios from existing cubes. This method was a struggle for me at first, as I had trouble accurately joining my lines at the vanishing points. 9
10 hexahedral drawings I began with 30/60 and 45 degree angle cubes, and used the projection method to either add or substract values from the original shape. 10
11 hexahedral drawings As a final step, I retraced my new ratios and used line to develop a spatial edge, and grey markers to express tone and volume. 11
12 inclined planes ffiirst attempt The inclined planes exercise was the one I struggled the most with this term. We were provided with the birds eye and side view of each of the planes; however, I struggled to visualize the shapes in their final form. This resulted in some of my planes being incorrectly drawn. The plane which resembled a house, gave me the most trouble, because my perspective kept being off slightly each drawing attempt. 12
13 inclined planes ffiirst attempt During critique, it was pointed out that my shading was correctly reprsented, and that I happened to correctly represent the hardest plane: the bow tie. It was suggested that I try these drawings again to get the perspective right. 13
14 inclined planes second attempt The second time around, it was much more clear to me how the final planes should look, which assisted me in the projections portion, allowing me to create a more accurate representation. I traced over my projections to remove any of the initial lines from the projection stages. 14
15 inclined planes second attempt As a final step, I added tone with grey markers to reflect the volume of the planes. Overall, I felt much more confident the second time around when creating these drawings, as I feel my second attempt was much more accurate. 15
16 circles, cylinders & cones The following is some of my initial practice drawings for my cylinders. I began by practicing my circular base drawings, then plotting those points accurately through projection. 16
17 circles, cylinders & cones I added cubes stacked on top of one another to accurately project the volume of a cylinder. I also made sure to use smaller cubes for the top of some of the drawings to accurately represent the shape of a cone. 17
