Paul Scott, 66 years of age, passed away on August 12, 2014 at China Valley Medical Center. He was born in Oceanside on January 14, Paul was a Chino resident for the past 25 years and a previous resident of Orange, CA. He had been self-employed for the past 20 years and was a successful business owner. Paul will be sorely missed and leaves a huge void in the service and sales of Philatelic and Numismatic Materials in both Northern and Southern California. Paul was also a proud veteran who served in the US Army. Paul leaves behind his loving wife Katie and his three children, Sarah, Warren and Kaia. Herb has been educating fellow hobbyists for a long time now and his level of knowledge is amazing. If you would like to volunteer to become a speaker at any of our general meetings be sure to talk to Dean Birge. October Giant Auction & Food Night Do you have an item that you want to auction off? Don t miss the October Giant Auction! Members can bring in auction items and you can list a total of 6 items this month. Also, October is food night where the cooks will bring in a dinner dish for the entire membership. So, come hungry and ready to have a dinner on the club. We do encourage everyone to bring in a dessert or something to share with others. Editor: Ryan Johnson Special Thanks to Scott Griffin A huge thank you goes to Scott Griffin for allowing San Jose Coin Club to continue its dealer drawing. A drawing where dealers can win discounts on their bourse fees for the next Santa Clara Show. Scott has been kind enough to carry on this tradition from past owners of the Santa Clara Shows to raise funds for the San Jose Coin Club s Youth Program. At the September show Sally Johnson and Scott Griffin raised $292 for the youth program. It is because of programs like these that help to promote youth in the numismatic hobby and have programs for our youth. In the months of November and December Ryan Johnson will be collecting donations for Second Harvest food bank at the General Meeting. Any and all donations are welcome, this is a great way for our club to help support those in need and help serve our community. In the past the club has gathered hundreds of pounds of food to donate to this organization and it wouldn t be the same without our members help. nd San Jose Coin Club meets on the 2 th Wed. of each month (October 8 this month) at American Legion Hall, Post 318, 1504 Minnesota Ave., San Jose. Announcements, Martha Davis announced she has calendars, Fred Davis announced the Santa Clara show is coming up and will be selling raffle tickets at the front desk, Michael S. Turrini announced he has a list of upcoming NorCal shows, Lyle Okamoto announced the Santa Clara Show and Las Vegas Show are both coming up, Herb Miles announced he has updated listing of items that will be in the PCSN White Elephant sale, Dean Birge announced the CSNA Symposium and the Peninsula Show November 2 nd at Napredak hall, Sally Johnson announced she has show fliers and is also, looking for help for the tickets sales for the Santa Clara Show for dealer drawings to sponsor the San Jose Coin Club youth program. Recording Secretary, Ryan Johnson waived reading of the general meeting minutes. Corresponding Secretary, Lyle Okamoto reported he received the usual club mail, a letter from Second Harvest Food Bank, a letter from Citibank, ANA Numismatist, and a letter from Sacramento Valley Coin Club. Curator, Bill Meadows reported that he has one new item, a as well as two sets of keys for the safety deposit box. Treasurer, Sally Johnson reported the balance between the CitiBank account and the Wells Fargo Account. Librarian, Ed Sins reported nothing new. Web Master, Sally Johnson reported that the website is updated and we have 29,871 hits and that s up 175 from last month. Bourse Chair, Ray Johnson reported that he has r ed out the bourse applications and has sold 62 tables out of the 70 tables. Program Chair, Dean Birge reported that the upcoming order of speakers and events for the general meeting are as follows, October is Giant Auction, Matthew Downing in November, Santa in December and Bill Meadows in January. Medals Chair, Ryan Johnson reported that he has sent 144 ounces of silver to Lee Kuntz as well as the San Jose Coin Club Logo. Bill Meadows made a motion to melt un-numbered San Jose Coin Club medals for Opposed. Ed Sins made a motion to set a price at $25 per medal, the motion was seconded. 1-Opposed. Youth Advisor, Sally Johnson had 1 youth member at the last meeting and worked the Santa Clara show to earn $292 for the youth program. Sally reported that she will talk to Jeff Shevlin and Walt Ostromecki regarding youth programs. Newsletter Editor, Ryan Johnson reported that will publish Second Harvest food donations, an article from Ed Sins and will place a memorial article for Paul Scott our show supply dealer who passed away. Membership Chair, Ed Sins reported no new members, Bill Hurja has forfeited renewal of his membership and Frank Church is our next upcoming 50 year life member. OLD BUSINESS: NEW BUSINESS: SHOW BUSINESS: Meeting Adjourned at 9:18 PM We are always looking for new members to join our board. We currently have positions still vacant and are looking for volunteers to fill these positions. All positions are for a term of no more than one year unless re-elected. If you would like to learn more about these positions or have an opinion or suggestion for the future of the club or activities you would like to see being done at the club meetings or special events done to promote the hobby, never hesitate to speak to one of our elected board of directors. As members you have a right to suggest changes to help benefit this club or share with us new ways of us being able to potentially get new and more members young and old as well as experienced and novice hobbyists.

In addition to selling food, the establishment has a wide variety of childrens games, which are played using brass tokens given with the food. The tokens can also be purchased separately. Our young numismatists should carefully watch their tokens. The writer has to date observed four obverse varieties and four reverse varieties, and six combinations of these. For the sake of convenience, the side bearing the head of the mouse, Chuck E. Cheese, will be defined as the obverse and the side bearing the date will be defined as the reverse. Obverses will be identified as a), b), c) and d), and reverses as 1), 2), 3) and 4). The reverses are easily identified by the date and the inscription in the center. They are: 1) 1977, 25 value 2) 1978, 25 value 3) 1979, 25 value 4) 1979, 25 play (different style of Letters) The obverses are just as easy, once you see the tokens. They are: a) Pizzatime as one word, no city b) Pizzatime as one word, SanJose, CA c) Pizza Time as two words, San Jose, CA d) Same as c) but an entirely different style of letters. San Jose, CA on b) and c) are properly referred to as large letters, while d) is a small letters San Jose, Ca. Other obverses may exist, since Pizza Time Theatres are also located in Concord, Stockton, Sacramento, and Huntington Beach. The writer has not yet seen tokens from these towns. Six combinations are known to the writer at this time. They are 1a, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3c and 4d. It is likely that a 3b also exists, although it has not been observed. It is very unlikely that reverse 4 exists with obverses a), b) or c), or that obverse d) exists with reverses 1), 2) or 3) because of the great change in the style of the lettering. Items 2b) and 4d) appear to be the most common at least for now. Item 3c) is almost as common, but appears to be lightly struck and less resistant to darkening through handling and oxidation. High grade specimens could be hard to find. Item 1a) seems to be a little harder to locate but is not at all scarce. Only one specimen each of items 2a) and 3a) have been observed. If you have any additional information on this subject, please report it Ed Sins, P.O. Original - Article IV. Officers Section 1. The elected officers of the club shall be a president, a vice president, a youth president, a recording secretary, a corresponding secretary, a treasurer, a librarian, a historian, and six board members. The board of directors shall consist of the above officers, the immediate past-president, a curator, a web master, general show chair, and coin show bourse chair shall be appointed by the newly elected president with the approval of the board. All members of the board of directors shall have a vote. Each living member of the hall of fame shall be a board member and shall have voting rights when in attendance at a board meeting. The presence or absence of a member of the Hall of Fame at a board meeting shall not increase or decrease the quorum requirements. Proposed Revision Article IV. Officers Section 1.
