1 Saturday Morning--830-noon Class # 1 Inlace for Beginners-$55 by Betsey Sloan Description: Do you have a can of InLace in your studio but have been hesitant to dig into it? This class is for you & anyone wanting to explore this inlay material. Instructor will supply: students with a kit of tools needed to sand, polish & buff InLace, a prepared gourd, a sample of hardened InLace, a tutorial, pattern, & all materials needed. Students need to bring: a carver with ALL your collets or a universal chuck & a ball bit plus inverted cone. Wood burner & favorite tip. Bring a 12 x 8 box in which to put your gourd as you leave class with a semi-hardened inlay. Class #2 Bees a Buzzin -$45 by Karen Beckelman & Connie Williams Description: Come join the fun to create this wonderful beehive birdhouse. Students will be instructed in the Donna Dewberry technique from these instructors. The students will create a "beehive" on the gourd, then add beautiful flowers, leaves, and last of all bees. What a treat for all your feathered friends. Instructor will supply: Paint. stain, gourd and instructions are Students need to bring: one-stroke brushes: 3/4 flat, #12 flat, #2 script liner. (These brushes may be purchased from Connie and Karen for $12), a paint water basin, an apron. Indian Maiden --$45 Class #3 by Katie Westmoreland Description: Students will wood burn design on gourd & remove skin with rotary tool, then apply transparent acrylics to create beautiful design Instructor will supply: gourd, transparent acrylics & personaltools to share Students need to bring: wood burner with knife pen/tip; rotary tool with sanding burr & small ball bur

2 Class #4 Not your Box Kit--Mold Making -$35 by Leah Reed Description: How to make molds Home Products (this is not a box kit) In this class, participants will learn to make inexpensive silicone molds using home based products. Participants will make 2 to 3 molds using different objects. See photo for different ideas. Students are encouraged to bring an item to class if they have something in mind. (Note size of objects in photo). This technique is great if you are looking to make faces, wings, hands etc. IMPORTANT NOTE: One of the products has strong smell. Instructor will supply: all of the supplies needed to complete two to three molds including a variety of items to use to make molds and Quikwood to test the molds. Students need to bring: latex or similar gloves, small gourd(s) to try there new molds Class #5 Two Techniques in One class=3 beautiful projects Twined Base & Knotted Gourds-$50 by Nancy Amburgey Description: In this class, each student will make a total of three gourds. The projects are not related, but the techniques learned are ones that may easily be incorporated into many other future projects. The twined base technique on a Gourd adds that extra touch, just like putting a rim on a gourd, sometimes it makes the difference. In this class the student will learn to twine a base on the bottom of the gourd. This is a way to slightly elevate the gourd to allow it to sit when a gourd does not have a completely flat bottom. The class will include marking and drilling holes in addition to weaving the bottom. For the Knotted Gourds technique you will create the other two gourds, students will be learning to tie a knot on a banana gourd one with & one without a spiral. In this portion of the class the student will have an elegant gourd by using chair cane (rattan) to tie a knot. Students will first apply coloring and a sealer to a 5-7 banana gourd. Next will be the process of wrapping the cane around the gourd. The gourds can be used decoratively with a base or hung on a stand. They also make wonderful ornaments when made with smaller gourds. Students should finish all 3 gourds in the class, however, if they do not, instructions will be provided to finish on their own. Instructor will supply: One 5-7 diameter prepared gourd bowl, along with the twining/lacing material for the twined base technique ; Two 5-7 banana gourds, paint/ink dye, sealer and the rattan for the knotted gourds technique; Students need to bring: Bring an awl & small needle nose pliers for doing the twined base; drill; (instructor will have one to share as well) Bring a sharp pair of pointed scissors or a utility knife (X-acto), apron, gloves & a heat gun to complete the knotted gourds

3 Class #6 Lampwork & Woodsy Pineneedle Ornament-$50 by Shari Zabroski Description: In this class students will learn to create Pine needle ornaments with different themes & techniques. Instructor will supply: Cleaned & prepared pine needles as well as all the supplies needed to create & finish a lampwork style ornament in class. Students will have the option of either a holiday/winter or fancy lampwork bead to choose from. Student will also receive supplies to create the bonus woodsy ornament they can make at home following the class. Students will receive a complete tutorial for both ornaments. Students need to bring: Sharp scissors and needle nose pliers Class # 7 Jolly Ole Soul -$40 by Sherry Briscoe Description: In this class students will learn how to turn a penguin gourd into a cute Santa. They will start by sculpting his features, then arms, feet/boots, and fur trim, using QuikWood. Then they will paint him with acrylic paints and apply a glaze/sealer. They will leave with a wonderful old fellow, ready to usher in the holiday season. Instructor will supply: Cleaned/sanded gourds;.acrylic paints, glaze/sealer, brushes, brush basins, Quikwood, 5-in-1 clay tools, scissors, paper towels, vinyl gloves, tutorial with instructions and full color photos of the finished project in a vinyl sheet cover, and a couple of hair driers for those who may not haveone. Students need to bring: Apron/smock to protect clothing and a hair drier

4 Saturday Afternoon 1:00-5:00pm Class #8 Wall Weaving on a Dipper Gourd--$40 by Betsey Sloan Description: Bring a dipper gourd & turn it into a beautiful wall weaving! Learn how to frame, add spokes, & weave with a variety of materials to create your one of a kind gourd. Instructor will supply: Teacher provides tutorial, all frame and weaving materials (earthtones as shown.) This includes dyed and smoked reed, yarn, seagrass, decorative pods, coco fiber, misc Students need to bring: Students should bring a sharp pair of scissors, a regular power drill with a 5/64th bit. A dipper gourd, approx. 18 to 24 inches in length. It doesn't need to be knotted. Water bucket to soak reed. Towel. Class # 9 Just Clowning Around -$50 by Karen Beckelman & Connie Williams Description: Come join Connie and Karen to create this wonderful bowl painted with clown fish swimming around the coral. Students will be taught how to use the Dewberry one-stroke technique from two of Donna Dewberry s Master instructors. After completing the outside of the bowl, the student will decoupage the inside, using mod podge and fabric. To finish up, the students will add a beautiful gemstone rim. Instructor will supply: Gourd, material for the inside of the gourd and mod-podge, gems for the rim, paint, and design. Students need to bring: one-stroke brushes: 3/4 flat, #12 flat, #2 script liner. (These brushes may be purchased from Connie and Karen for $15), a paint water basin, an apron, scissors, and a small foam brush.

5 Class #10 The Scratchin Rooster--$65 by Katie Westmoreland Description: Students will learn 3 techniques in this class-wood burning, dirty stippling & working with colored pencils to create this project Instructor will supply: Gourd; colored pencils & personal tools to share if someone needs them; and all other materials to complete this project; Students need to bring: wood burner with knife & skew /tips; rotarty tool with small ball & inverted cone bits; dust mask & apron Class # 11 Double Walled Cherokee Woven Rim -$68 by Nancy Amburgey Description: Learn to weave in the style of the Double Wall Cherokee basket on top of a gourd. In the class, a student will begin by weaving the inside wall at the rim. Then a turn will be made to then weave the outer wall. It will be finished with an edge trim. (NOTE: This is a class that was developed by Toni Mickle & Nancy Amburgey) Students should finish the gourds in the class, however, if they do not, instructions will be provided to finish on their own. Instructor will supply: A prepared gourd bowl and the round reed Students need to bring: an awl or flat screwdriver and old scissors or utility scissors. CLass #12 Poinsettia ornament--$53 by Shari Zabroski Description: Coiling with pine needles around a double sided wood center; adding lampwork and E-beads to create a unique holiday ornament Instructor will supply: Cleaned and prepared pine needles, a painted wood center, waxed linen thread, 2 decorative lampwork beads and E- beads. Students will receive a complete tutorial in case they do not finish the ornament in class, or they wish to make another on their own as a gift. Students need to bring: Sharp scissors and needle nose pliers

6 Class #13 Flutter by Light--$45 by Sherry Briscoe Description: In this class students will learn how to use Stick n Burn to transfer the butterfly designs to their gourd, using preprinted patterns supplied by the instructor. They will also learn how to condition their gourd with Formula 49 and color their butterflies with ink dyes. The instructor will demonstrate blending and shading techniques to attain a lovely painterly effect. After heat-setting the gourd, the students will apply a coat of varnish and will then drill and insert Turkish Beads in their desired patterns. Once the project is complete they will affix the luminary kit to the gourd. Instructor will supply: Cleaned/sanded/cut cannonball gourds; pre-printed patterns on Stick n Burn; GourdMaster (GM) ink dyes in a wide variety of colors, including the new ones just recently released; GM Formula 49; Turkish Beads in several colors and sizes; tutorials with full-color photos of the project, howto-instructions, and pre-printed butterfly patterns; luminary kits; varnish, felt squares, paper towels; vinyl gloves; mini brushes and brush basins; sanding sticks; and a couple of heat tools and scissors for those who may not have them. Students need to bring: An adjustable-temperature wood burner with their favorite pen/tip for outlining patterns; a drill/rotary tool with the following drill bits: 9/64, 5/32, 7/32, 5/64, and 19/64 ; a heat tool (not hair drier); a respirator/dust mask; sharp scissors, and an apron/smock to protect their clothes. Lil Trinket Box --$45 by Sheryl Scott Class # 14 Description: Students will create a hinged trinket box from a canteen gourd; Instructor will supply: Gourd, inks, paints, embellishments, & various design patterns; Students need to bring: wood burner with knife tip/pen; mini gourd saw; dremel tool with a 107 burrbit

7 Sunday 9:00am-Noon Class # 15 Gourd Necklace with Glass & Wire--$40 by Betsey Sloan tools if you have them. Sharp scissors Description: Let's make two different gourd necklaces...one with an inlay (learn how) and the second using a piece of dichroic glass where we will woodburn an image suggested by the shape of the glass! We will use sterling silver wire, too, in my "signature" curves. Leather backed. Instructor will supply: inlay piece, dichroic glass, tutorial, prepared gourd shards, findings, beads, sterling silver wire, leather. Fabric necklace. SS chains also available. Students need to bring: a woodburner with favorite tip or pen, pencil, carver and several small ball bits, collets. Jewelry Class #16 Old Mac Donald Had a Farm-Cow & Pig $35 by Connie Williams and apron Brushes are available for purchase from the instructors. Description: Old MacDonald would still have his farm if he had these animals. Join Connie to make these wonderful fun ornaments from quickwood, a small bottle gourd, and egg gourds. You will make & paint a cow and a pig. All students should be able to finish the two projects completely. Instructor will supply: Gourds, Paint, & Quickwood; Students need to bring: Water Basin, Paint Brushes Class # 17 Ole Mac Donald had a Farm- Cat & Chicken -$35 by Karen Beckelman Description: Old MacDonald would still have his farm if he had these animals. Join Karen to make these wonderful fun ornaments from quikwood, a small bottle gourd, and egg gourds. You will make and paint a cat and a chicken. All students should be able to finish the two projects completely. Instructor will supply: Gourds,Paint & Quickwood, Students need to bring: Water Basin, Paint Brushes and apron Brushes are available for purchase from the instructors.

8 In the beginning --$30 Class # 18 by Katie Westmoreland Description: Students will learn some history of the gourd; Instructor will demo many tools of the trade & students may have hands on training with various tools Instructor will supply: all tools needed & gourds or gourd shards to demo on. Students need to bring: dust mask & aprons note pad & pen for taking notes on any instructions you wish to retain. Class # 19 Blooming Dreams -$50 by Nancy Amburgey. Description: A wall hanging will be made by wood burning & painting a flower during the class. In addition, the center of the flower will include a dream catcher. Lastly the student can add feathers and possibly some beads to finalize the project. Students should finish the gourd in the class. However, if they do not, instructions will be provided to finish on their own. Instructor will supply: The instructor will bring all the other supplies gourd, paint, sealer, paint brushes, Q-tips, feathers, beads, etc. Students need to bring: The student will need to bring a wood burner with skewer and ball tip pens. Also bring a paint pallet, apron, gloves, and heat gun. If a student has specific feathers or beads they would like to use please bring them also. Class #20 Country Snowman--$45 by Sheryl Scott Description: Students will take a small to medium basketball gourd & create a winter show piece; Instructor will supply: gourd, paint, pipe, glue, ribbon & various embellishments Students need to bring: favorite paint brushes, water basin, craft dryer or heat gun to dry paint

9 Sunday 12:30-3:30PM Class # 21 Chickens-Chickens & more Chickens-$45 by Betsey Sloan Description: What a fun & relaxing way to end your day. Let's create some of my favorite funky and fabulous chickens. We will dunk in marbeling ink, splash with acrylics, use QuikWood to create wings, use Apoxy Sculpt for expressive faces, and then add feathers, flowers, feet or clips. Four gourds provided. Instructor will supply: prepared gourds, paint, feathers, QuikWood, Apoxy Sculpt, tutorial, glue and other supplies. Students need to bring: a drill with burs for holes and slots. Brushes, good fine & old larger brushes. Bring a box to safely carry your chicks home. Punked Jack --$50 by Connie Williams your imagination and creativity. Class # 22 Description: Students will learn to create this wonderful jack o lantern from a cheese gourd. They will start the steam punk process by adding silver foil to the gourd. They will learn how to create a tarnished, metallic, riveted look. After completing the pumpkin they will then stain Jack with black, copper, gold or silver. Next they will start adding Jack s punk embellishments with pieces of old jewelry, wire, cogs, washers, charms, coins, gears, wheels, etc. You can embellish your Punked Jack with a little or a lot. You are limited only by Instructor will supply: Cheese Gourd, Foil Tape, Polyurethane to seal, black stain, copper stain, gold stain, assortment of jewelry pieces washers, cogs, wheels and tutorial which will be sent Students need to bring: Students need to bring: scissors (bring those that can get sticky not your good ones). Paint brushes, old jewelry if you like (this will be cut up) DAP Rapid Fuse All Purpose and an apron

10 Class #23 A tisket a tasket a Apple Gourd Basket- $50 by Karen Beckelman Description: Come make this wonderful apple gourd basket with Karen. The student will learn how to create their basket by wood burning the gourd to look like a woven basket. The student will then complete the inside of the basket using mod podge and fabric. Instructor will supply: Gourd, material for the inside of the gourd and mod-podge, paint, stain and design.. Students need to bring: a foam brush or old brush for the mod-podge. a paint water basin, an apron, and scissors and a wood burner with a skew or knife tip Class # 24 Bird on the Wire -$40 by Katie Westmoreland Description: Students will paint a design on a bird feeder gourd & add beads & the hanger wire Instructor will supply: Gourd, paint, beads & hanger wires Students need to bring: apron & favorite paint brushes Class # 25 Stain Glass bowl-$45 by Sheryl Scott Description: Using a canteen gourd, students will create a vase with a look of a stain glass window Instructor will supply: Gourd, inks, seagrass, waxed thread, base & finish Students need to bring: dremel with small burr, wood burner, small paint brush,
