Saturday--8:30 a.m. thru 12:00 p.m. 1-$55.00-Gourd bowl with rim of Corded Weave w/beads Sherry Briscoe (min-2/max-12) DESCRIPTION: In this class, students will have their choice of alcohol inks or GourdMaster (GM) inks to color the outside of their gourds, and will seal them with a spray-on or brush-on sealer (satin or gloss). They will then learn a wonderful and easy weaving/couching technique to add craft cord to their project. There will be a discussion of various types of fibers that can be used with this technique to create very different effects. To finish off the gourds, they will learn how to attach beads to add a bit of extra pizzaz! INSTRUCTOR WILL FURNISH: All other supplies needed to complete their project including: a cut/cleaned/sanded/drilled gourd, GM and alcohol inks, tapestry and beading needles, waxed linen in a range of colors, Fireline, a variety of glass beads, craft cord, satin and gloss sealers, vinyl gloves, paper towels, sponges, felt squares, and a tutorial of instructions with a full-color photo of the finished project in a vinyl sheet protector, extra scissors and a couple of heat tools for those who may not have them. STUDENTS MUST BRING: An apron/smock to protect their clothing, sharp scissors, & a heat tool (not hair drier) 2-$50.00-Jumping Jack Frost Leah Reed (Max 8) Description: students will assemble the Jumping Jack Frosty. Pending time availability, as the focus of this class is to learn how to assemble Jumping Jack, Students may not finish the painting part of Jack Frosty. Link to see what he does - INSTRUCTOR WILL FURNISH: all Supplies needed to assemble and paint Jumping Jack Frost. STUDENTS MUST BRING Long Nose Pliers, Flat Head Screw Driver, paintbrushes & utility knife.
2 3-$40.00-Spring Flower Gourd Bowl- Linda & Terry Kincaid (min-4/max-12) Description: The primary emphasis of this class is to teach various wood burning techniques. The design will be burned, & color added with colored pencils. The gourd will then be sealed. Various rim treatments will be discussed, time permitting, the rim will be applied to the gourd. Instructor will furnish-gourd bowl (cleaned, sanded, pattern applied), colored pencils, Fixative, & polyurethane for final sealing, assorted rim treatments/ Embellishments; Students need to bring: Adjustable wood burner (mandatory), mask if sensitive to fumes, & any embellishments/rim treatments as desired by the student. 4-$45.00-Tom Turkey Thanksgiving Gourd Sheryl Scott (min-1/max-12) Descriptions: Students will learn to add quickwood to gourds, make facial features & added decorations to a crown of thorns gourd & a mini long handle dipper gourd. Some assembly with the legs & the base will already be done, for students to be allowed time to paint. Students will then paint & add color & character to their turkey. We will also add feathers if you want. Instructor will provide all the gourds, paint, quickwood, spray finish, hot glue guns, sponge brushes and embellishments. Students will need to bring their favorite paint brushes and water basin, dryer
3 5-$25.00-Lady Bug Magnets- Doris Trombley (min1/max-12) 6-$40.00-Rest Stop- Betsey Sloan Description-Using a prepared gourd, students will first transfer the images, then woodburn the image onto the gourd. Once a basecoat of alcohol ink is added, students will add acrylics to selected parts & then "sand paint" the remainder of the image using colored sands & glue. A carved design can also be added around the image if students have a carver & are proficient with it. Teacher will provide a prepared gourd, color tutorial, alcohol inks, cotton squares, makeup sponges, various colored sand and glue, acrylic paints, & spar varnish spray finish. Students should bring disposable gloves & several paint brushes, water basin for cleaning brushes. Those who wish may bring a carver (Dremel, Optima, etc.) & round ball burrs to remove area around the image.
4 7-$55.00-Black Walnut Pine Needle Basket Shari Zabroski (This is an all day class) (min-5/max-8) Description: Will learn the pine needle coiling techniques for baskets & gourd art. (Basket size is aprox. 5 x5 x2 ) Instructor will provide prepared long leaf pine needles, black walnut slices, waxed linen thread, 4 MM brass/metallic beads; & a tutorial. Students need to bring apron & small pair of sharp scissors. ***This is a all day class, students will break for lunch between part 1 & part 2. Saturday--1:00 p.m. thru 5:00 p.m. 8-$50.00-It has Flare Gourd Bowl Sherry Briscoe (min-2/max-12) DESCRIPTION: In this class, students will have their choice of alcohol inks or GourdMaster (GM) inks to color their gourds, & will seal them with a spray-on or brush-on sealer (satin or gloss). When the sealer has dried, they will learn how to coil a paper rush rim that flares out at the top. They will have the option of adding a feather accent. INSTRUCTOR WILL FURNISH: All other supplies needed to complete their project including: a cleaned/cut/sanded/drilled gourd, alcohol and GM inks, sealer (satin and gloss),waxed linen, tapestry and beading needles, paper rush in a choice of 3 colors, feathers, scissors, paper towels, felt squares, sponges,vinyl gloves, a tutorial with instructions & a full-color photo of the completed project in a vinyl sheet cover, & a couple of heat tools for those who may not have one. STUDENTS MUST BRING: An apron/smock to protect their clothing, sharp scissors, & a heat tool (not hair drier)

Once the vinyl is removed, the flowers may be colored with voted pencil or acrylics. Light holes are added and so.e filled with glass beads. A metal butterfly adorns the top and a wooden lamp base, prewired, is added Instructor will provide a prepared gourd, color tutorial, vinyl, alcohol inks, colored pencils to share, acrlyics, lamp base, finishing spray and Butterfly. Students must bring a drill with several small bits. Also disposable gloves. Colored pencils if you have them. Paint brushes.
6 11-$45.00-Berry Bee Sheryl Scott Description: Students will add quickwood for facial features & wing supports; paint a large bottle gourd adding bows to the neck & head of the bear to look like a very merry Beary Bee Instructor will provide gourds, paint, wire for the wings, quickwood, material for the bow, & all materials to finish this project. Students will need to bring their apron, favorite paint brushes &water basins. Sunday--9:00 a.m. thru 12:00 p.m. 12-$55.00-Let s Make Some Noise Sherry Briscoe (min-2/max-12) DESCRIPTION: In this class, students will color their gourds with alcohol inks, seal the gourd with gloss Krylon glaze, apply a goat skin drum head with upholstery tacks, add a rawhide handle/grip, & learn how to install the spring that creates the thunder. INSTRUCTOR WILL FURNISH: a cleaned/cut/sanded/ drilled gourd, gloss Krylon, alcohol inks, goat skin drum head, upholstery tacks, spring, rawhide strips, vinyl gloves, alcohol, paper towels, pencils, glue, tutorial with instructions & full-color photo of the project in a vinyl sheet protector. The instructor will also have a couple of heat tools, awls, & hammers available for the students use on a first-come-first-served basis. If students do not bring their own, they may have to wait to use these items, which might delay completion of their projects.
7 STUDENTS MUST BRING: An apron/smock to protect their clothing, sharp scissors, small hammer, basin/bucket for soaking the drum head; awl, and a heat tool or hair drier. 13-$ Festive Tea Lights Tina Handrop (min-1/max 15) Description: Students will create a festive tea light with a dream catcher & decorative embellishments. Instructor will provide cleaned & prepared gourd, alcohol inks, waxed cotton thread, various decorative button embellishments, tea light & all other supplies to create this project. Students only need to bring apron, heat gun & glue gun. All students should complete this project 14-$ Creative Scenes on Gourds Betsey Sloan Description: Creating Scenes with Alcohol Ink Using prepared gourds; students will add & roll a gourd in a certain pattern to create scenes going horizontally. Those shown are samples of what can be accomplished when you add flowers, trees, and other designs with inks or acrylics. Two gourds will be provided to each student. Teacher will provide color tutorial, two prepared gourds each, all alcohol inks, paper towels, cotton wipes, & Q-tips, sponge daubers, acrylic paint, spar varnish spray finish. Students should bring disposable gloves & an apron or other covering for clothing, pallet and several old brushes.
8 Sunday--12:30-3:30 p.m. 15-$35.00-Lil Lady Bug Gourd Bowl/Vase Tina Handrop Description: Students will create a small vase with a rim from choice of several materials; they will wood burn grass & scripture then add a bit of color with alcohol ink, and then add rim & lady bugs. Students will finish this project in class. Instructor will provide cleaned & prepared gourd; alcohol inks, rim materials, lady bugs & gloves. Students need to bring apron & heat gun. 16-$25.00-Alcholol Inks on Tiles Betsey Sloan Description: This is a relaxing class. Learn how to use your alcohol inks to create great pictures on pieces of tile. No two will be alike. Students will have five tiles to experiment with. Create gardens of flowers, or a woodland scene. Use ink "and let it become" or push it around a little into creative shapes. This technique can also be done on yupo (coated watercolor) paper but tiles allow you to wipe away images if you don't like them! Teacher will supply color tutorial, tiles, extra ink colors, alcohol, Sumi brush. Students must bring disposable gloves, whatever alcohol inks (Adirondack only) you have, several old paint brushes, paper towels, two glass holders for alcohol.
9 17-$25.00-Old Time Santa Ornament Sheryl Scott Description: Using a banana gourd, students will get to add quickwood for Santa s hat, beard, eyes & nose. Then students will paint Santa, & then they will learn how to antique an ornament. Then they will spray a clear finish on him. We will add an ornament hanger and he will be ready to put on the Christmas Tree. Instructor will provide all materials to complete the project. This will be a fun class using different finishes this class should finish in about 2-3 hours Students will need to bring an apron; their favorite paint brushes and a water basin
