The SteppIR antenna was orgnally conceved to solve the problem of coverng the sx ham bands (m, 17m, 1m, 1m, 1m and 6m) on one tower wthout the performance sacrfces caused by nteracton between all of the requred antennas. Yags are avalable that cover meters through 1 meters by usng nterlaced elements or traps or log perodc technques, but do so at the expense of sgnfcant performance reducton n gan and front to back ratos. Wth the addton of the WARC bands on 17m and 1m, the use of nterlaced elements and traps has clearly been an exercse n dmnshng returns. Obvously, an antenna that s precsely adjustable n length whle n the ar would solve the frequency problem, and n addton would have vastly mproved performance over exstng fxed length yags. The ablty to tune the antenna to a specfc frequency, wthout regard for bandwdth, results n excellent gan and front to back at every frequency. The SteppIR desgn was made possble by the convergence of determnaton and hgh tech materals. The avalablty of new lghtweght glass fber compostes, Teflon blended thermoplastcs, hgh conductvty copper-beryllum and extremely relable stepper motors has allowed the SteppIR to be a commercally feasble product. Ths wll be a pctoral descrpton of the assembly of ths kt: Ths Edge TOP Boom Sde Mast Sde Ths Edge TOP Pcture 1 Pcture 3 Put the two mast plates together makng sure all the holes lne up Put a splt washer on the 3/8-16 x 4 SS Full-Thread Bolt Insert the 3/8-16 x 4 SS Full-Thread Bolt through the two plates as seen n Pcture 1 & Pcture Install a standard 3/8-16 nut and tghten (make sure all holes algn) Install a standard 3/8-16 Nylok nut as seen n (Pcture 7 ) Pcture Pcture

8 SteppIR Antennas E - 3E Hgh Wnd Kt Pcture Mast Saddles 3/8-16 x 4 SS Full Thread Bolt W/Splt Washer If you are gong to mount the mast plate to a temporary mast then contnue your antenna assembly: Put the mast plate assembly aganst the mast Assemble a renforcng strap wth two /16-18 x 4 SS bolts nto a short saddle (wth center hole) and nstall as seen n (Pcture 13). Install the /16-18 SS Nylok nuts and tghten Repeat for second mast clamp Pcture Pcture Mast Mast

9 SteppIR Antennas E - 3E Hgh Wnd Kt Boom Installaton for Element (m - 6m): Measure the overall length of the boom and mark the mdpont Boom Installaton for Element (W/4m-3m Dpole): Temporarly mount the boom as shown n the 4m-3m Dpole manual choosng your locaton Mark the boom drectly under the EZ-Eye stud Remove the boom. Contnue: Place the boom on a flat level surface wth the element mountng surfaces up Check to make sure the element mountng surfaces are level Mark the top center of the boom from your center DO make sure the mark s on the top center of the boom Center punch the mark Drll straght down through both sdes of the boom wth the N (.3 ) drll bt (that s provded) Install the /16-18 eye bolt wth the eye parallel to the boom (Pcture 1 ) Install a /16-18 SS Nylok nut and tghten Put two 3/8 flat washers on the EZ-Eye stud ( Pcture 16 ) Hang the boom, usng the EZ-Eye, on the EZ-Eye stud Put two more 3/8 flat washers on the EZ-Eye stud (Pcture 16 ) Install 3/8-16 SS Nylok nut (do not tghten now) (Pcture 16 ) Install two 1-3/4 saddles on the frst sde Insert two /16-18 x 4-3/8 SS bolts Install two /16-18 SS Nylok nuts (do not tghten now) Do the other sde the same way Adjust the two Nylok nuts on the EZ-Eye stud to make sure the boom s level Tghten the Nylok nuts on the boom saddle clamps and EZ-Eye NOTE: The EZ-Eye can be adjusted later to relevel the antenna by loosenng the bolts on the boom saddle clamps and then adjustng the two Nylok nuts that poston the EZ- Eye. Be sure to tghten all nuts when fnshed.

11 SteppIR Antennas E - 3E Hgh Wnd Kt Boom Installaton for 3 Element: Remove the vertcal 1/4- bolt from the # splce Drll out the hole wth the ncluded N (.3 ) drll bt Install the /16-18 eye bolt wth the eye parallel to the boom (Pcture 17 ) Install a /16-18 SS Nylok nut and tghten NOTE: Make sure the horzontal bolt n the # splce has the head on the mast plate sde of the boom to allow proper clearance Put two 3/8 flat washers on the EZ-Eye stud ( Pcture 16 ) Hang the boom, usng the EZ-Eye, on the EZ-Eye stud Put two more 3/8 flat washers on the EZ-Eye stud (Pcture 16 ) Install 3/8-16 SS Nylok nut (do not tghten now) (Pcture 16) Install two 1-3/4 saddles on the frst sde Insert two /16-18 x 4-3/8 SS bolts Install two /16-18 SS Nylok nuts (do not tghten now) Do the other sde the same way Adjust the two Nylok nuts on the EZ-Eye stud to make sure the boom s level Tghten the Nylok nuts on the boom saddle clamps and EZ-Eye NOTE: The EZ-Eye can be adjusted later to relevel the antenna by loosenng the bolts on the boom saddle clamps and then adjustng the two Nylok nuts that poston the EZ- Eye.
