2 IMPORTANT INFORMATION Due to limitations of space, you may only enter exhibits into the Show if you live in, work in, attend school in or have connections with the villages of Wootton, Glympton and Kiddington. You may enter as many classes as you like but please do not put in more than one exhibit per class. Please refer to Hints and Tips whenever you see * in the schedule. SHOW TIMETABLE PRE SHOW All entry forms and fees must be delivered to the Secretaries (Wootton Stores, 10 Manor Court or 9 Castle Rd) before 9:30pm on Wednesday 6th September ON THE DAY Exhibits must be staged between 9:00 and 10:45am, after which the marquee will be closed for judging (see rules 6 and 7). SHOW OPENS AT 2PM Cash prizes may be collected from the Treasurer between 3:30 and 4:30pm. Trophies will be presented at 4:30pm. The auction and raffle will take place at 5:00pm. Please remove all exhibits from the marquee between 4:30 and 4:55pm, as any items remaining at 5:00pm will be assumed to be available for sale in the auction. THE FRANK MARRIOTT SILVER CUP is for the exhibitor winning the most points in the Vegetables section. THE LEN HUMPHRIES SILVER CUP is for the grower of the heaviest pumpkin. THE PONSONBY CUP is for an outstanding exhibit in the Cut Flowers section. THE WOOTTON TROPHY is for the exhibitor winning the most points across the Fruit, Vegetables and Cut Flowers sections and is open only to gardeners living within the Civil Parish of Wootton (See end of cut flower section for more details). THE HORDLEY ROSE BOWL is for an outstanding exhibit in the Floral Art section. THE ELEANOR SMITH SILVER CUP is for the exhibitor winning the most points in the Homecraft section. THE MARJORIE STONEBRIDGE SILVER CUP is for an outstanding exhibit in the Homecraft section. THE CENTENARY CUP is for an outstanding handicraft exhibit in the Art and Craft section. THE CLARE STOTT CRAFTSMANSHIP TROPHY is for an outstanding handicraft exhibit in the Art and Craft section, entered in the "a" classes by an exhibitor aged between 11 and 15 years. THE SCHOOL TROPHY is for an outstanding handicraft exhibit in the Art and Craft section, entered in the "b" classes by an exhibitor aged between 5 and 10 years. THE JOHNSON ART CUP is for an outstanding painting or drawing in the Art and Craft section. THE BRIAN DAVIS TROPHY is for the best Limerick. THE THELMA KYDD SALVER is for an outstanding photograph of Wootton taken in the 12 months immediately prior to the Show. THE VAL DAY SILVER CUP is for the exhibitor aged under 8 years winning the most points in the Children's section. THE MARGARET CAMPBELL SILVER CUP is for the exhibitor aged between 8 and 15 years winning the most points in the Children's section. THE WOOTTON FAMILY TANKARD is for the family (minimum of 3 entrants, of whom at least one must be a parent & one a child under the age of 16) living at the same address within the parish of Wootton & winning the most points across all classes.

The Civil Parish of Wootton includes Wootton, Holly Bank, Dornford, Hordley and Woodleys.

9 *HINTS AND TIPS Please remember that there are size restrictions on exhibits in classes 5, 26, 34-37, and 65. Any exhibit exceeding the maximum dimensions allowed may be disqualified. FRUIT AND VEGETABLES Unless stated otherwise, all fruit and vegetables should be of market size and will be judged on quality and appearance. For the purposes of the show, tomatoes will be accepted as a vegetable and rhubarb as a fruit. *Class 9 - Courgettes - straightness and uniformity are important. *Class 21 - It is recommended that you exhibit two or more examples of the one vegetable. CUT FLOWERS AND FLORAL ART *Classes 30 and 31 - You may exhibit any variety of aster or dahlia but all 5 blooms must be of the same type. In the Cut Flowers section, all flowers and foliage must come from the exhibitor s own garden or allotment. When setting up flower arrangements and cut flowers, where the schedule states: space allowed 60cm x 60cm, exhibits must not touch the sides of the bays nor overhang the front of the table. There is no restriction on height except in class 36. Acquired plant material is permitted in all the Floral Art classes. For classes an exhibit is defined as natural plant material, with or without accessories, one or more placements, bases, drapes and exhibit titles. When using an accessory, try to incorporate it within the exhibit, remembering that plant material should predominate. HOMECRAFT *Classes For health and hygiene reasons please cover your exhibits. *Class 43 A Great British Bake Off Showstopper is inspired by the television show of the same name. A Showstopper can be any baked display designed to wow the judges. It could be a cake, a pie, a bread or biscuit sculpture or a combination of these. Imagination will be rewarded!
10 *Classes 44 and 45 - Presentation is very important; preserves should be clearly labelled, and in a well-filled, clean and polished jar. *Class 46 Homebrewed entries should be shown in a clear bottle, labelled and dated with the year of make. Please supply a glass for sampling and corkscrew if needed. ART AND CRAFT *Classes The maximum space allowed for any exhibit is 40cm 3. However larger items may be folded in order to fit within this space. Any exhibit exceeding 40cm in length width or height may be disqualified. *Class 50 The maximum space allowed for the woodwork or metalwork exhibits is 50cm 3 that is 50cm in length, width and height. LIMERICK *Class 54 - This will be judged on both content and presentation. Maximum size A5. PHOTOGRAPHY When presenting your photographs, don t be afraid to crop them if you think it makes for a better picture. Mount your photograph on a piece of card, leaving a border all round. The maximum size of exhibit, including mount, is A4. Evidence of the use of digital enhancement will result in disqualification. CHILDREN S CLASSES *Classes 60 and 64 - Please cover your exhibits in these classes. *Class 66 You may enter this class individually or as a group of up to 4 people. If you are entering as a group please use a separate entry form from your other entries and name all the members of your group on it, with their ages. CLEANING YOUR CUPS AND TROPHIES Please look after your cups and trophies during the year they are yours. We recommend gentle cleaning with a Goddard s silver cloth or mild silver polish. Thank you
11 SHOW RULES 1 All exhibits must be grown/made/constructed wholly by the entrant, except where specifically stated otherwise in the schedule. 2 Any exhibit once shown and awarded a prize shall not be eligible for entry in subsequent years. 3 Any competitor winning the same cup or trophy in two consecutive years is not eligible to receive that cup or trophy in the following year. 4 Only one entry per competitor is allowed in each class. 5 Entry forms should be submitted to the Secretary, with the appropriate fee, no later than 9:30pm on the Wednesday prior to the show. 6 All exhibits must be staged between 9:00 and 10:45am on the morning of the show, and should not be removed before 4:30pm. 7 No admission to the hall will be permitted after 10:45am. Judging commences at 11:00am. 8 Any exhibit which exceeds the maximum dimensions given for any class may be disqualified. 9 Any exhibits not removed by 5:00pm may be included in the closing auction. 10 Entry fees: 50p per exhibit, but children (aged under 16 on the day of the show) entering two or more classes will pay a maximum fee of Where entrants have not yet reached the age of 16 years on the day of the show they should state their age, in years and months, on the entry form. Age is taken into consideration in judging. In the Children s sections, children may enter classes in an older age group than their own, but in the Art and Craft section the a and b classes have both an upper and a lower age limit. 12 Prizes are awarded, or not, at the discretion of the judge, regardless of the number of entries in the class. 13 All classes carry prizes as follows: 1st , 2nd , 3rd - 50p 14 Cash prizes must be collected from the Treasurer between 3:30 and 4:30pm. Any prize money not collected by the end of the show shall be forfeited. 15 Any exhibitor found attempting to deceive the committee will not be allowed to exhibit again. 16 In the event of any dispute arising as to the interpretation of the rules, the decision of the committee shall be final.
