The venue to be cleared for judging NOT LATER THAN A.M. PROMPT

3 RULES & REGULATIONS 1. All exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor on his/her own premises, or on land in his/her own occupation for at least three months previous to the Show. Any exhibitor infringing this rule will be disqualified from receiving any prizes. This rule applies to Classes No exhibitor shall be awarded more than one prize in the same Class, therefore only one entry per Class will be allowed. 3. All entries must be made on or before Thursday 25 th October All exhibits must be staged for the Judges by a.m., when the hall will be cleared and only those officially engaged will be allowed inside. The hall will be open for the reception of exhibits from 8.00 a.m. No exhibits shall be removed before the presentation of awards without the written consent of the Committee. 5. The decision of the Judges shall be final. They have the power to withhold any prize, or prizes, if in their opinion there are not sufficient exhibits, or the standard reached is not high enough, or the rules have been infringed. 6. Exhibitors must show the exact number of specimens mentioned in the Schedule, or they will be disqualified. 7. Any protest must be made in writing and lodged with the Secretary by 3.30 p.m. on the day of the Show, accompanied by a fee of 1, which sum will be forfeited if the objection is considered frivolous. In the event of any dispute as to the qualification of the exhibitor to compete, the decision of the Committee shall be final. 8. Every possible care will be taken of exhibits but the Committee will not hold itself responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.

6 FLORAL ARRANGEMENT SECTION Open Classes: Entry Fee 50p per class Points awarded: 1 st - 5, 2 nd - 3, 3 rd 2 Staged on tabling with white covering, some in alcoves. `Exhibits` are arrangements which may include accessories (ie non-plant material items) as appropriate, but plant material should always predominate. Drapes, bases, backboards and title cards are always optional but must be relevant and immaculate! Please note: Alcoves are 61cm x 61cm x 61cm. Class 1st 2nd 3rd 13. AUTUMNAL SPLENDOUR A front-facing exhibit in traditional styling, staged in an alcove, space allowed 60cm wide x 50cm deep, height 60cm A SEASONAL CELEBRATION An exhibit in parallel styling, staged in an alcove, space allowed 60cm wide x 50cm deep, height 60cm. 15. TAKE FIVE A modern/contemporary style exhibit featuring just 5 blooms ( EITHER x 5 bloom chrysanthemums OR x 5 large dahlias OR x 5 sunflowers) plus any cut foliage and/or preserved plant material as required, staged on open tabling, viewed all round but judged from front, space allowed 61cm x 61cm, height unlimited. 16. MY FAVOURITE LITTLE TIPPLE A petite exhibit, staged in any kind of drinking glass as appropriate, not to exceed 25cm x 25cm x 25cm

A RING OF PLENTY A wreath ring exhibit (will be displayed and judged flat on tabling) featuring autumnal plant materials to include some fruits/ vegetables/ nuts or seeds, space allowed 30cm diameter NOVICE CLASS Only for competitors who have never won a 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize at a Bream Show: GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT A portable arrangement of seasonal produce, displayed in a basket as a Harvest Festival gift (any cut flowers/foliage included must remain turgid or be in water eg orchid tubes or similar), displayed on tabling, viewed all round but judged from front, space allowed 24cm x 24cm, height optional. B.H.S. CHALLENGE CUP FOR MOST POINTS IN CLASSES ALWYN PAGE TROPHY for BEST IN SHOW in Classes Prize Cards for Highly Commended / Commended exhibits awarded at Judge s discretion.

10 CLASS 35 RECIPE Ingredients 200g plain flour CARROT AND WALNUT CAKE 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 170g caster sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 3 eggs ½ teaspoon vanilla essence 110ml vegetable oil 140g grated carrot 60g chopped walnuts ½ teaspoon cinnamon 90g grated apple 90g sultanas For the icing: Method 50g butter 25g icing sugar 250g full fat cream cheese A few drops of vanilla essence 1. Line a 20cm (8 inch) cake tin. 2. Heat oven to 170oC (gas mark 3/4). 3. Sift flour, sugar, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder and cinnamon into a mixing bowl. 4. Make a well in the centre and add the eggs, oil and vanilla and combine well. 5. Stir in the grated carrot, walnuts, grated apple and sultanas. Mix well. 6. Transfer the mixture to the tin and bake for approximately 1hour and 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before icing. 7. To make the icing: put the icing ingredients into a bowl and whisk using a hand whisk until smooth. 8. Spread the icing on top of the cake.
