4 Children s Entries All Classes This is an extract only. Please read the 2018 Burdekin Show Schedule for full details regarding closure of entry times, entry fees and delivery times for each exhibit. Individual entries in the various Sections, a separate Entry Form must be used for each person in each Section. Schools Recommend that teachers entering multiple entries from same grade in an individual class, use one (I) Entry Form listing each individual child s name on that entry form for that one specific class. Please ensure that the Indemnity Waiver on the reverse side of each Entry Form is completed and signed by Exhibitor, Parent or Teacher. Children are eligible to enter open classes of individual sections. Refer to 2018 Burdekin Show Schedule for relevant section and class information and details. General Conditions Of Entry And Competition The Ayr Pastoral Agricultural & Industrial Association Inc. is a member of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies. As such, all entries are accepted subject to the following: This Show is conducted subject to the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies and the Rules of this Society and any regulation which appears within the Schedule for the Individual Sections of this show. Should there be any conflict between the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies, the Constitution and the Rules of this Society and the Regulations appearing in the Schedule, the Constitution, Rules and Regulations appearing in the Schedule of this Society shall prevail. All persons upon entering any class in this Schedule agree to indemnify the Ayr Pastoral Agricultural & Industrial Association Inc. against liability for any accident, damage, loss or illness to any Exhibitor, Exhibit or Competitor and agree that all Compensations are under the complete and total control of the Ayr Pastoral Agricultural & Industrial Association Inc. whose decision in all matters is final. A Judge shall not have any information prior to or during judging at the 2018 Burdekin Show other than what is provided by the Ayr Pastoral Agricultural & Industrial Association Inc. DISPUTE RESOLUTION Any protest by an Exhibitor must be lodged in writing with the Association s Secretary by 5pm on Wednesday 27 th June 2018 together with a Fee of $ This Fee will be forfeited if the Protest is frivolous or vexatious. These birds do not have to be any specific breed & will be judged purely as a pet All care but no responsibility taken for loss or damage. 10 SECTION 15 CAKES IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT COMPETITORS READ THE FOLLOWING COMPREHENSIVELY: A clear plastic OVEN BAG is recommended to protect your exhibit. All cakes to be un-iced, unless otherwise stated. Sponge cakes must be cooked in 8 (20cm) round tins and must be double. Other cakes to be cooked in 8 (20cm) round or square tins, single tier unless specified. Cakes are to be presented on a flat board covered in foil (thick cardboard or board), no paper plates, for presentation and ease of handling. Small cakes etc. to be presented on a plastic (non-bendable) plate, (no paper plates). Packet or wrapping must be included with exhibit where packet, brand name or ingredient is stipulated. Special Needs Person: Special requirements of those with learning difficulties, emotional or behavioural problems, or physical disabilities. N.B. The Numbers beside each Category are Class Numbers. CARROT CAKE ANDREW KIERLE MEMORIAL AWARD CARROT CAKE INGREDIENTS: 1 cup self-raising flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda ½ teaspoon cinnamon ½ cup chopped pecan nuts ½ cup sultanas ½ cup chopped glace ginger 1 ½ cups grated carrot 2 eggs (lightly beaten) 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed) ⅓ ½ cup oil METHOD: 1. In a large bowl, sift flour, soda and spices together. 2. Add sugar, nuts, carrots, sultanas, ginger, eggs and oil. Mix well. 3. Beat on medium speed for 5 minutes. 4. Place into a greased loaf tin 12 x 22 x 5cm and cook in a moderately slow oven for ¾ to 1 hour. Cool on a cooling rack.

APRICOT AND CHOC CHIP CAKE APRICOT AND CHOC CHIP CAKE INGREDIENTS: 1 cup apricots chopped 1 cup apricot juice 125g butter ⅔ cup raw sugar 2 eggs separated 1½ cups coconut 1½ cups self-raising flour ½ cup milk chocolate chips METHOD: 1. Combine apricot nectar & chopped apricots and stand for 1 hour. 2. Cream butter and sugar until white. 3. Beat egg yolks one at a time, and then transfer to a large bowl. 4. Stir in coconut, half the sifted flour and half the apricot mixture. 5. Then stir in the rest of the flour and apricot mix and choc bits. 6. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form, fold into mixture. 7. Pour mixture into a 25cm round well-greased cake tin. 8. Bake at 180c for minutes. 9. Stand for 5 minutes, dust with icing sugar. OPEN 3. 12 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - Grades HUMMINGBIRD LOAF CAKE HUMMINGBIRD LOAF CAKE INGREDIENTS: 2 cups (300g) self-raising flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 3 teaspoons mixed spice 1½ cups (260g) brown sugar 4 eggs, lightly beaten ⅔ cup (160ml) vegetable oil 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups (480g) grated carrot ⅔ cup (70g) walnuts, chopped ½ cup (120g) canned, crushed pineapple, drained METHOD: 1. Preheat oven to 180c. 2. Place flour, baking powder, mixed spice and sugar in a large bowl and mix to combine. 3. Add eggs, oil, vanilla, carrot, walnuts and pineapple and mix to combine. 4. Pour into a 10 cm x 21cm (2 litre capacity) lightly greased loaf tin lined with non-stick baking paper. 5. Bake for 45 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer. 6. Allow to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before turning out on to a wire rack to cool completely. 15 SECTION 18 ART Exhibits in Classes 1-6 only are to be delivered to the Burdekin Multi- Purpose Hall at the Show-grounds between pm Tues 26 th June All other exhibits to be delivered to Show Office by 4pm Fri 22 nd June Exhibit Cards must be attached (stapled or taped) to the bottom right hand corner only (facing outwards) of each exhibit. Each entry in Open Classes 1-6, and Years - Classes 7 & 8, must have Name, Address and Class Number on the back only of the exhibit.
