1 Colour: Mixing, Theory & Experiments with Fiona Payne SATURDAY 1 st DECEMBER am pm 40 Fiona Payne Fiona is a local artist and tutor. Her workshops have been delivered to schools, College students as well as many adults at seminars, classes and demonstrations. Ideal for anyone who wishes to paint better pictures! Produce your own colour wheel, understand how colours work and why, learn cool ways of creating colour spectrums by mixing using only three basic colours. Put them to the test in a variety of quick and fun tutorials. Finish knowing the magic of colour, a must for any budding artist. Large sized sketching paper, Sketch book with good quality paper or a roll of wall-paper Water colour paints in the following colours: - Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red and Ultramarine Blue. If you don t have the exact colours bring what you do have. Clean white palette, plate or tile. Medium sized paint brush. Pencil and rubber Water pots. Drawing boards and easels. Hairdryers Tea, coffee and biscuits Fiona will also bring a variety of equipment which can be used on the day including extra drawing implements. 300grsm A1 cartridge paper will be available to purchase on the day at a cost of 1 per sheet. 2 Christmas Decorations in Stained Glass with Victoria Littlehales SATURDAY 1 st DECEMBER am-4.00pm 45 (small charge for extra materials) Victoria Littlehales Victoria has an Art School background with a degree in Metalwork and Jewellery. She taught Art at Secondary and A level but in recent years has taught within Adult Education in various community settings. She has a passion for colour and stained glass and makes traditional lead work commissions for doors and windows together with pieces that form a series of contemporary, stylized motifs, such as hearts, stars, birds, flowers, often created in a patchwork of colours and textures, and often incorporating fused glass, vintage glass and beads, wire, ribbon and found objects. The workshop In this one day workshop we will be working in foiling techniques and making handcrafted, decorative items for Christmas. Victoria will explain how to create your own design, cut glass, grind and finish the edges, apply the foil, solder and finish your pieces enabling you to create your own stunning pieces of art! 3 Quick and Loose Watercolours with John Hopkins FRIDAY 7 th DECEMBER pm-4.00pm 20 John Hopkins John studied illustration at Birmingham College of Art, and has enjoyed a career as a successful freelance artist, working in all mediums, but specialising in watercolour. He prefers to work in a fast, loose, impressionistic style but always with the emphasis on good drawing skills. John is an associate member of the RBSA and a member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society. I will show you how to create quick, simple and effective watercolour paintings using Wet-in-Wet and Dry-brush technique. We will also look at composition, perspective and drawing skills. 4 Introduction to Modelling - in Cold Porcelain with Linda Heynes (New Tutor) SATURDAY 8 th DECEMBER am-4.00pm 55 (includes materials) Linda Heynes Linda Heynes is a successful author, tutor, judge and award winning model maker. She has been modelling figures and flowers for over 30 years and has won many awards for her outstanding work including Grand Prix d Honneur. Working in sugar initially, Linda transferred her many skills to cold porcelain to achieve more permanent results. Suitable for all abilities. Learn to make holly, berries and pine cones to decorate Christmas gift boxes. We will be moulding and rolling the porcelain to make a charming choir boy, ideal for your Christmas table. We will also make Christmas tree novelties. Cold Porcelain is an extremely versatile air drying medium. It can be shaped, rolled and used in moulds. It is popular throughout the crafting world and can be used to decorate a huge variety of items including picture frames, lamps, boxes, cards etc. Porcelain flowers and figures are frequently used to decorate celebration cakes. Small thin blade manicure scissors and a craft knife Small non-stick rolling pin/small non-stick board (both optional) Old dish cloth and tea towel Fine paint brush. 5 Beautiful Bottle Lights! with Ellie Atkinson (New Tutor) SATURDAY 8 th DECEMBER am-1.00pm 25 Ellie Atkinson Having worked in the NHS for over 37 years, as a psychiatric nurse, I have always encouraged people to have hobbies and interests, to give relaxation, enjoyment and occupation. I have always crafted, since childhood, I enjoy scrapbooking, card making, mixed media, knitting and flower arranging. The workshop is about decoupage onto glass bottles, and is a brilliant way to create something beautiful by recycling your glass bottles; I don t encourage drinking all the wine yourself!! 6 Experimental Drawing: Fruit & Vegetables with Fiona Payne SUNDAY 16 th DECEMBER pm pm 20 Fiona Payne Fiona is a local artist and tutor. Her workshops have been delivered to schools, College students as well as many adults at seminars, classes and demonstrations. Suitable for all abilities. An afternoon of fun, experimental drawing techniques creating fruit and vegetables in a loose and free style. As well as learning new techniques, learn to create 3 dimensional fruit and veg. All fruit and veg will be provided!! Large sized sketching paper, brown parcel paper or a roll of wall paper lining at least A3 A Black Biro Black felt tip pens or fine writers Charcoal Chalk pastels Pencils- 2b,4b & 6b Rubber Medium sized paint brush Water pots.
