Refer to the material list to the left and confirm that you have the correct amount of wood for this project. Instructions below are for one Sandbox. Write the number you want to make in the upper left box, then inventory materials by multiplying the Quantity Each by this number. Sort (four) x6x1 pieces and cut to 1 for a total of (four) 1 pieces. Sort (four) x6x1 pieces and cut to 16 1/" for a total of (four) 16 1/" pieces. Sort. (four) x6x8 pieces and cut to 75 1/" for a total of (four) 75 1/" pieces. Sort (four) x6x8 pieces and cut to 91" for a total of (four) 91" pieces. Sort four () xx8 pieces. Cut each into 8 (eight) 1 pieces for a total of twenty-eight (8) xx1 (you only have to cut pieces on the last board). Sort two () xx8 pieces. Cut each into fourteen (1) xx6 ¼ pieces for a total of twenty-eight (8) xx6 1/. Sort two () x6x1 pieces. Cut each into the following trapezoid shape: 1 along the long side with 5-degree angles at both ends for a total of two () x6x1 trapezoids. Sort two () x6x1 pieces. Above is a picture of what your finished project will look like. Follow the instructions below and most importantly, have fun! 1. Build the sandbox legs: use two () xx6 ¼ pieces to connect two xx1 pieces as shown to the right. Use two () ½ screws at each joint and make sure all the sides are flush and square. Build fourteen (1) leg assemblies.. Build the inside border: Use ½ screws to attach the x6x16 ½ and the x6x75 ½ pieces, making sure to run the 16 ½ pieces LONG, past the 75 ½ pieces, to construct a rectangle as shown to the right. Build two () squares of this size per sandbox and stack them on top of each other, as shown below. You can screw into the ends of the 75 ½ pieces from the outside of the 16 pieces.

4 3. Build the outside border: Use ½ screws to attach the x6x1 and x6x91 pieces, making sure to run the 1 piece LONG, past the 91 pieces (similar to how you built the inside border). Build two () squares at this size around the inside frame you ve already built, as shown to the right.. Fit the 1 leg assemblies between the inside border and the outside border. Space the legs exactly as shown on the next page: Set the legs flush with the inside corner and leave a 9 ¼ clearance to the outer border edge (as shown on next page), otherwise the seats won t fit! 5. Use ½ screws to attach the borders (inside and outside) to the xx1 legs: set the top of the borders flush with the top of the legs and leave a ¼ gap between the 1st and nd courses, which should leave a ¾ gap to the ground at the bottom.

5 6. Measure the diagonals of the sandbox to make sure it is square before continuing. Wiggle the corners of the sandbox if one diagonal is considerable longer than the other until the outside-corner-to-outside-corner measurements are within ½ of each other. 7. Place the x6 seat pieces on top of the box. Line up the 5-degree corners, leave a ¼ gap between the outer and inner pieces, and make sure the pieces overhang the box on the inside and outside by approximately 1. Make sure everything fits well and looks good before screwing into the box, then attach the seats to the box with ½ screws into each xx6 ¼ brace and every 1 along the inside and outside border. 8. Move the box to its final destination. Line the inside of the box with landscape fabric, making sure to roll it up against the inside border x6s on all four sides. Then fill the sandbox with sand, being sure to keep the sand level -3 below the seat level. 9. Make sure to sand any cut or rough edges, and decide if you should paint or seal the sandbox. Then clean up your work area and your sandbox is complete! Thanks for all your hard work!
