The float set is not necessary to paint. If you would like to paint the float and (or) other parts, this is the time to do it. We do not recommend to paint the bottom of the floats. Please refer to the following points and carefully proceed the painting procedure. Wash all of the model with soap and water to remove any grease. Sand the entire surface to be painted with wet 00-grit sandpaper. (You may avoid sanding the aileron, elevator and rudder moving part if you wash them well). Use any fuel resistant paint that you like, we have had good result with Isofan, ABF or two-component polyurethane paint. Test the paint on the small ABS sheet which comes with the airplane kit in the repair bag before you paint on the float. Make sure the paint and thinner will not melt or damage the ABS sheet. Apply some drops of nitro fuel on the painted ABS sheet to make sure if the paint is fuel resistant. Mask tape is needed for the painting job to cover the unpainted area. Avoid to paint the glue area as CA may damage the paint and cause bad adhesion. Make sure the linkage is smooth; if not, remove the paint at the linkage area. Always wear mask w/filter when doing the painting job as thinner and paint are harmful to your health. 6 JE60

To obtain this position first try moving the receiver battery and then if needed, add some lead. The step should be about 0mm (3/8 )after the C.G. Position. See Flying & Safety Tips in Page 5. 0
7 . Measure the bottom fuselage where gonna install the landing gear wood block. Includes the outer dimension A and inner dimension B from the two sides of fuselage..trim a U cut right after the firewall so the landing gear wood mount could be installed. Trial fit and trim the U cut to make sure the wood mount is level with the bottom of the fuselage. Apply enough epoxy and glue the wood mount in place. Introduction Many thanks for the purchase of the. This set contains a pair of strong, lightweight floats molded in special ABS plastic, together with all fittings required, water rudder and associated linkage. The floats is designed for wooden high wing plane that you can convert to seaplane easily. Please read the manual thoroughly and check the contents before you start the assembly. You will need mm,3mm,.mm,5mm(5/6,/8,/6,3/6 ) drill bits during assembling. Regarding tools and glues, they are same as you used for the plane.. Locate the wood block then use saw to cut away the excess part base on the outer dimension A. Epoxy the two torque wood block on the landing gear wood block base on the inner dimension B as shown. 5. Install the landing gear wire in the wood mount with four 3x0mm wood screws and landing straps. You may need to drill mm(5/6 ) pilot holes before screwing in the wood screws. Also change the main landing gear wires to come with the kit. If wires can not fit the wood mount then you can trim or change new wood mount. Kit Contents: Float Mounting Bracket (Left/, Right/) Brass Tube Mount Plastic Sleeve Plug Plug w/rudder Bush Steering Arm Water Rudder Rudder Shaft.x3mm Rivet x5mm Brass Tube Angled Brass Tube 3.8M Wire Tension Spring 3x5mm Wood Screw Carbon Tube Mounting Strap Landing Gear Wire Wheel Collar 3x0mm Wood Screw 3x3mm Set Screw Landing Gear Wood Block Torque Wood Block.6x8mm Wood Screw Drill.mm (/6 ) holes through the torque wood mount center on the landing gear wood block groove at two ends about 0mm(3/8 ) to the edge which depends on the thickness of side fuselage. Note the two holes are not in line with each other so two landing gear wires could be installed in the groove. 6.Refer to the airplane C.G. and determine the location of the mounting bracket. You will need to check the length of the two landing gear block and make sure the STEP of float is about 0mm(3/8 ) to the C.G. position. Now you can find out the correct position for four mounting brackets then make marks on the mounting holes. 3
8 7.Drill 5mm(3/6 ) holes on the marks at least 30mm ( -3/6 ) in depth. Disregard the molded dots on the float as they might not at the same position as the marks you made. Trial fit the plastic sleeve and make sure the depth is just flush with the sleeve, remove the sleeves and roughen the plastic sleeves with sandpaper(50 grit). Glue all sleeves in place with epoxy. Note that the holes are faced up. Make sure there is no epoxy inside the holes of sleeves. 0 Install the water rudder in the plug w/bush then secure the Steering Arm in place with.6x8mm wood screw. 3.Drill a 3mm (/8 ) hole at the left side of the fuselage, epoxy an angled brass tube in place. Next thread the wire through the angled brass tube on the float, next thread the wire through the brass tube on fuselage then go to the servo compartment. Make a loop and circle to the servo horn at outmost hole then clamp the tube. Do the same way on the other wire. Flying Tips During the slow taxing phase it is essential to hold in full up-elevator to keep the nose up. Taxi as slowly as possible to avoid spraying and splashing. Use the rudder (i.e. the water rudder) for course correction only; the ailerons should only be used to hold the model straight in a side-wind. Take-off must always be directly into wind; start by opening the throttle slowly with full up-elevator held in. As soon as the model rises onto the step, i.e. when it is gliding on the underside of the floats, the elevator must be returned to neutral. Allow plenty of time, i.e. more than you generally use on land. The drag of floats is much higher than of a wheeled undercarriage. Always land in plenty of time, i.e. well before you run out of fuel, as you will need a longer motor run than you are used to when flying from land in order to taxi the model back to the bank. For the landing fly into wind as usual and flare the model with a higher angle of attack than usual. The waves can be uncomfortably high, and the model will tend to bounce unless you are very careful. Safety Tips 8.Sand the glue area of the plug and the hole on the float, next epoxy the plugs in place. Note the plug w/rudder Bush will be at the left float which you will need to drill an extra hole for the angled brass tube mount later..apply decals carefully as photo shown then secure the mounting brackets in place with 3x5mm wood screws. Note the orientation of the mounting brackets. Next install the collars and carbon tubes as shown, adjust the tube then secure the collars with eight 3x3mm setscrews. Make sure there is no gap between the collar and mounting bracket..bend the Spring at two ends so it can hook to the steering arm. Thread the other end of the two wires to the springs same way to loop the brass tubes. Adjust the wires and clamp the tubes so springs have the tension. Make sure the water rudder works smoothly and same direction as rudder. Step vs C.G. Tiger.Refer to airplane safe cautions..nylon or fiberglass propeller is recommended. Also check that there is sufficient clearance between the propeller tips and the top surface of the floats. 3.Only fly when engine is powerful and smoothly..do not fly on a flowing water like creeks or rivers. 5.Do not attempt to fly if there is any wildlife or people in the water. 6.Check the wind direction then choose a good location for flying. The wind can carry it back to the shore If engineis quit. 7.If plane is stuck out on the water, do not attempt to swing to get it back as it is very dangerous and difficult. A good way to get your plane back, retrieve the stalled or capsized model plane with a fishing rod that equips a real. Tie a tennis ball on at least lb. string. Of course, retrieve the plane with a boat is the best. N0TT 0mm (3/8 ).Locate the Water Rudder, Rudder Shaft and Rivet. Insert the rivet then use hammer to secure the rudder in place. Note: The rivet has a hole on one end, suggest to place a Phillips Screw Driver on the hole then slightly hit the driver so the rivet will break evenly. Next hit the rivet directly until water rudder is secured firmly but still can swivel back..locate the Angled Brass Tubes and mount, install the tubes in the mount. Place the Brass Tube Mount as photo shown then drill 3mm(/8 ) hole through the mount and to the float. Next enlarge the hole on float to 5mm(3/6 ). Do the same procedure to install the sleeve. Next secure the brass tube mount on the float with the rest 3x5mm wood screws. Double check the balance point of your plane, refer to the plane manual and make sure the C.G. position is correct. To obtain this position first try moving the receiver battery and then if needed, add some lead. The step should be about 0mm (3/8 )after the C.G. Position. 5
