Landmark Special i impac reian and i pecially manufacured wih a reinforced fibergla crim o mee UL 2218 Cla 4 impac reiance raing. NOTE: Landmark Special mu be inalled over a clean deck (no roof-over) o obain he UL 2218 raing. I i rongly recommended ha impac reian cap hingle made from XT 30 IR hingle be inalled on all hip and ridge. Some inurance carrier may no conider he roof yem a complian o UL 2218 Cla 4 wihou impac reian cap hingle. Landmark Solari hingle are ENERGY STAR qualified roof produc ha mee boh olar reflecance and hermal emiiviy requiremen. Uing CerainTeed advanced roofing granule, Landmark Solari reflec olar energy and radiae hea far beer han radiional roofing hingle i can reduce he roof emperaure by a much a 20 percen in he ummer. NOTE: Ue maching Landmark Solari hip and ridge hingle which are alo olar reflecive. Landmark TL i unique becaue i paened Tri-Laminae deign combine hree layer of maerial o provide a dramaically hick hingle wih a wood hake yle. Wih he excepion of Landmark TL, cloed-cu valley are preferred by CerainTeed when applying hee hingle; however, open valley are alo accepable. Open valley are recommended when applying Landmark TL; however cloed-cu valley are alo accepable. Woven valley are no recommended for Landmark TL becaue he ri-laminaed hingle can buckle and become damaged when haped ino he valley. Nail are required a faener for Landmark TL, aple are no allowed. STANDARD OR STEEP SLOPES: CerainTeed recommend DiamondDeck Synheic Underlaymen, Roofer Selec High Performance Underlaymen, or hingle underlaymen meeing ASTM D226, D4869 or D6757. Take care o enure ufficien deck venilaion when DiamondDeck or oher ynheic underlaymen i inalled. Follow manufacurer applicaion inrucion. Low lopes: One layer of CerainTeed WinerGuard Waerproofing Shingle Underlaymen (or equivalen, meeing ASTM D1970) or wo layer of 36" wide fel hingle underlaymen (Roofer Selec or underlaymen produc meeing ASTM D226, D4869 or D6757) lapped 19" mu be applied over he enire roof; enure ufficien deck venilaion. When DiamondDeck or oher ynheic underlaymen i inalled, weaher-lap a lea 20" and enure ufficien deck venilaion. IMPORTANT: When inalling LandMark TL on low lope, one layer of WinerGuard or an equivalen waerproofing hingle underlaymen mu be applied over he enire roof. Applying wo layer of fel hingle underlaymen i no an accepable alernaive o WinerGuard. For UL fire raing, underlaymen i generally required. Apply fla and unwrinkled. u Snap chalkline o aure hingle will be correcly aligned. Expoe all hingle 5 5 8" (143 mm). Sarer Coure: 1. Ue CerainTeed Swifar Sarer, or hree-ab elf-ealing hingle wih he lower ab porion removed. Be ure ha he arer hingle are a lea 7 5 8" in heigh.(figure 12-6). Sarer Shingle 7 5 /8 1 Coure: Apply a full hingle a he lower lef corner of he roof. Make he lower edge and lef edge lie fluh wih he edge of he arer coure (Figure 12-7). 2nd hrough 5h coure: CAUTION! Failure o follow inrucion ep 1-5 below will bring join oo cloe ogeher and may caue unaracive paern! 1. Cu 6" off he lef end of he fir hingle and ave hi piece for laer ue. Apply he " (34 for Landmark TL) long piece over and above he fir-coure hingle. Leave he boom 5 5 8" ab porion of he fir-coure hingle expoed. 2. Cu 11" off he fir hingle of he hird coure and ave hi for laer. Inall he " (29 for Landmark TL) long piece over and above he econd-coure hingle. 3. Apply he previouly removed 11" long piece over and above he hird-coure hingle. 4. Apply he previouly removed 6" long piece from he econd coure over and above he fourh-coure hingle. 5. Inall a full hingle again he righ edge of each hingle in coure one hrough five. Coninuing up he Roof: 1. Beginning again wih a full hingle, repea he five-coure paern up he lef rake.(figure 12-8, B). 2. Fill-in coure acro he roof in a epped diagonal fahion uing full hingle. (Fgure 12-8, A). 7 Hip, Ridge and Rake Shingle Applicaion Apply he primary field roofing up o he hip or ridge from boh ide of he roof and rim fluh or lap over one ide, no more han half he widh of a Mounain Ridge hingle. Aure ha he inalled Mounain Ridge hingle properly cover hip and ridge field hingle on boh ide and he field hingle applied along rake edge. For a rake edge inallaion, cu he field hingle fluh o he rake edge. Apply Mounain Ridge hingle enuring hey fi ecurely again he rake board. To ai in proper alignmen, nap a chalk line parallel o he hip, ridge or rake along he line where he ide edge of he Mounain Ridge hingle hould fall. Prepare a 4" Sarer hingle by cuing off he lower 8" color granule bu porion of one Mounain Ridge hingle. Apply he 4" arer piece (wih ealan neare he ouer edge) over he boom corner of he hip or rake, or on eiher end of he ridge, overhanging he corner or end by approximaely 1 2" and bending he arer hingle along i cenerline o form ino place (ee figure below.) Inall a nail on each ide abou 2" up from he arer hingle expoed bu edge and 1" in from each ide edge of he hingle. The 8" piece ha wa cu off may be ued o finih he oppoie end of hip, ridge or rake. Nex, apply a full Mounain Ridge hingle over he inalled arer hingle, bending i along i cenerline and forming ino place over he hip, ridge or rake, fluh wih he boom and ide edge of he arer hingle. Inall a nail on each ide of he hingle 8 5 8" up from he boom edge and 1" in from each ide edge. Coninue applicaion of he Mounain Ridge hingle along he hip, ridge or rake a hown. Immediaely align and apply he nex overlying hingle, genly preing ab ide ino adheive. Apply he 4" arer piece wih raied overlay edge over he boom corner of he hip or o eiher end of he ridge, overhanging he corner or end by approximaely 1/2" and bending he arer hingle along i cenerline o form ino place (ee Figure 12-19). Inall a nail on each ide abou 2" up from he arer hingle expoed bu edge and 1" in from each ide edge of he hingle. Then apply a full x piece over he arer, bending he hingle along i cenerline and forming i ino place over he hip or ridge, fluh wih he boom and ide edge of he arer hingle. Faen wih wo nail minimum 1-3/4" long wih one nail on each ide of hingle 8 5/8" up from he bu edge and 1 in from each ide edge (ee Figure 12-20). Coninue applicaion of Cedar Cre hingle up he hip or along he ridge, forming each hingle over he hip or ridge, and faen a hown in Faening. Expoe Cedar Cre hingle 8", covering all faener. To ai in proper alignmen, nap a chalk line parallel o he hip or ridge applying along he line where he ide edge of he Cedar Cre hingle hould be.
