Sue s Purse: This little Polka dot purse box uses the paper pizazz pink lace paper to cover the flap. Next add a bit of quilling to mimic one of the designs in the paper, then some punched black dots and fuchsia rhinestones. Top it off by adding a bow made from the pink tulle and you have a very cute gift box. Doreen s Scrolls and Pegs Card : Inside this issue: For this card I used the Willow Green and Pink to make the scrolls and pegs. The triangles are from the polka dotted paper in the kit. 3 Page 3 Design Team con t from pg1 Candy/Chocolate Pouch : This is made from the gorgeous glossy printed paper in April s Kit. Although you probably can t tell in the picture, both the black and pink tulle from the kit were used to tie the pouch shut. I just happened to have a folded rose on hand that matched nicely, and then added the willow green leaves. Birthday Card: I used the black, pink, and fuchsia for the card layers, and then made a simple flower out of teardrop ring coils. This way the fuchsia shows through the center of the petals. Polka dot thank you Card: Easter Egg: Polka dot thank you card the focal point of this project is the Hot Off The Press Dazzles stickers. I ordered these from Custom Quilling last month. They add just the right amount of sparkle to any project. They went great with the goodies in this kit. Try some yourself! Victorian egg; or at least my version! I saved this fat little chicken egg to decorate. It went great with the colors in this month s kit. A bit of quilling and some punched additions make this project perfect for Easter.

4 Page 4 Meet Brenda Brownlee, from Greenwood, Indiana Hello fellow quillers. I m Brenda Brownlee from Greenwood, Indiana (just south of Indianapolis). As a child, I was exposed to many different arts and crafts via my mother, but never took interest in anything more than drawing until I got a little older. I was introduced to paper quilling about five years ago at a demonstration of traditional paper crafts. What was demonstrated didn t do quilling justice, as all we saw were cutesy animals and flowers. I thought at the time that I wouldn t ever be interested in quilling. However, about six months later a friend of mine showed me some quilled poinsettia ornaments she was making to give as Christmas presents to her family. I saw how beautiful quilling could look and decided to have a go at it myself. So I got online and found Denise s (CQ) basic shapes chart. I made my own strips and after a little bit of practice with the basic shapes, began creating quilled embellishments for Christmas cards. The first year I made six cards. The next year I made a little under 100 cards. I quit quilling for a while after my third child was born and the role of motherhood became more demanding. After I became pregnant with my fourth child, I decided to take up quilling again to give me something to do during my pregnancy insomnia nights. I have been quilling at least three or four times a week since my baby s birth, in the evenings after my children are in bed. There are many times when I wish looks could quill (which is why I named my blog that - "If Looks Could Quill") and I could do more, but I know that season of life will eventually come and I need to enjoy the season I am currently in. I have learned quite a bit about technique thanks to help from members of both NAQG and quillers yahoo group. I ve also learned how versatile an art form quilling really is. Quilling strips are best viewed as an art medium much like oils are the medium of choice for many painters. Because truly, if we can dream it, we CAN quill it with perseverance, patience and a bit of creativity. From Ann s Desk... All Things Paper I ve long been fascinated with paper and all the wonderful things that can be created with it. Recently I started a blog that focuses on all things paper. I m enjoying featuring jewelry artists, sculptors, and crafters who work with paper, along with pictures of their work. I hope you ll stop by every now and then for a bit of inspiration.

5 Page 5 Sue April s kit is in the pink; a very springy mix of pinks, fuchsia, willow green, and a bit of black for contrast. Add these colors together with everything included in the kit; little purse boxes, tulle ribbon, polka dot printed paper, and bingo- you have a winner! Doreen Reviews Happy Easter Everyone!!! There is a lot to pick and choose from in April s kit! The little purse box was so cute, but I accidentally damaged mine, so I made the candy pouch to make up for it. The tulle is surprisingly versatile as you can cut it to any width you need. The Paplin s papers went well with the kit and that willow green is one of my favorite greens!
