2 Greetings and Welcome to the third doll in the DECADENT TEA PARTY online class series, Scarlet! BE SURE to read thru the entire tutorial FIRST before creating her or cutting material, as I give you creating options! **NOTE**... PROPS I wanted to have Scarlet and her dress spread out on the steps of Tara.

.. hahhaah so literally just took ready made stair steps, bashed them and glued together a few blocks of wood.

Lastly I ran some acrylic paint over steps, and then some sand for texture, and chalked it for age.

3 PROPS I wanted to have Scarlet and her dress spread out on the steps of Tara. I don t have a miniature store close to me... so I decided to make my own steps. I am NOT a miniaturist <G>... hahhaah so literally just took ready made stair steps, bashed them and glued together a few blocks of wood. Then glued on the brick plastic sheets from Hobby Lobby (cut to size of course). Lastly I ran some acrylic paint over steps, and then some sand for texture, and chalked it for age. Then glued on some little faux weeds to make it look old in corners. This little extra how to (steps) - is included AS IS and not really a part of the dollmaking tutorial. BUT I thought you would like to see the parts I used. Page 3

PREPERATION 1. Paint Shoes and cover dolls head with plastic bag to protect her face while dressing. 2. Assemble doll and put on pantaloons or small tight slip.

The dress skirt is glued down on steps - so nothing can be seen - but YOU know she covered (and ladylike <G>). It is important to have KNEES sticking up in dress <G> for realistic pose. Petticoat 1. Cut out petticoat material from white cotton. Turn very bottom edge under (about 1/4 ) to wrong side and glue. 2. Gather waist and slide on doll and tie off. 3. I folded the back part under her a butt a bit - and left the bulk of skirt to hang down front of steps. 4. OPTION. At this point - I superglued her butte to the steps under the petticoat and let it dry overnight. This way I had a sturdy figure to pull the draping tight. 5. Carefully arrange dress on steps for draping, and pin in place. 6. Cut 2 x 18 of netting, and gather middle. I glued this UNDER the front side of her dress only to provide a *poof* of skirt - similar to what a crinoline would look like. You can glue this under skirt and right to steps. Or sew in if you prefer. Page 4

5 SKIRT Repeat petticoat directions... BODICE 1. Cut out bodice pattern, and glue two tiny chest darts. Top and bottom edges are covered by other material. 2. Glue around torso, overlapping back edges and gluing flat. Page 5

6 BELT 1. Cut thin strip and glue around middle (or cut out belt pattern - and glue around middle). 2. Cut two long *tails* from green velvet ribbon (this does not fray) and glue on back as shown below. S SLEEVES 1. Cut out two sleeve patterns, turn very bottom edge under to wrong side and glue for finished hem. Glue arms into torso. 2. Gather sleeve tops, and glue on around arm/ shoulder. Page 6

7 Decorate top of bodice with small strips of velvet ribbon, and tiny piece cut lace decoration. I took one of Mari s cream flowers, glued on bodice and chalked the middle for color. WIGGING 1. Take size 8 American/5 mm knitting needle, and make 4 curls. 2. Cut apart - grab end with tweezers, and insert into glue (on her head). I put the LOOSE end on her scalp, and the tigher perfect curl on bottom (shoulders). See arrow. One big curl on each side front. Several thinner ones in back. Glue on two smaller pieces for *bangs* forehead curls. Page 7 cut curl at black line

WOW! You just have a simple hat - and your Scarlet doll is FINISHED! HAT 1.

I made a flat hat - no crown - but of course you are free to decorate/add as your muse dictates! Thats it!

9 WOW! You just have a simple hat - and your Scarlet doll is FINISHED! HAT 1. Cut out circle from pattern sheet, (I put mine on an index card for a bit of stability). 2. Glue circle on green printed material, as shown in photo, and fold edges to inside. 3. Glue on her head (I used superglue). 4. Decorate with tiny snippets of lace, silk ribbon, flowers from Mari etc. I made a flat hat - no crown - but of course you are free to decorate/add as your muse dictates! Thats it!
