2 EASY PATTERNS FOR KIDS TO CROCHET SECTION 1 Belt Pouches Materials for 2 pouches: About 2 ounces of Red Heart Super Saver Camouflage yarn (or any color you like) Crochet hook size G (5.99 mm) Large yarn needle Large safety pin BELT POUCHES Designed by Priscilla Hewitt Large Pouch Ch 16. Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across; ch 1, turn. (15 sc) Rows 2-14: Sc in each sc across; ch 1, turn. (15 sc) Mark row 14 with the safety pin. Rows 15-49: Sc in each sc across; ch 1, turn. Row 50: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Small Pouch Ch 11. 2

Rows 15-49: Sc in each sc across; ch 1, turn. Row 50: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Finishing 1. Thread needle with 15" of yarn. Fold row 1 over to meet row 14 (marked with a safety pin.) Sew row 1 to row 14 across all the sc to form the belt loop. 2. Thread the needle with 15" of yarn. Fold row 50 up to meet row 14 on the other side from the belt loop. 4 EASY PATTERNS FOR KIDS TO CROCHET SECTION 2 Hair Ties Materials for each tie: 10 feet of worsted weight acrylic yarn Crochet hook size G (4.00 mm) Three pony beads to match yarn Large yarn needle HAIR TIES Designed by Priscilla Hewitt Thread the yarn needle with the yarn. Put the needle in one of the beads. Push the bead to the other end of the yarn and tie a knot around the bead to keep the other beads from slipping off the yarn. Put the yarn needle through the other two beads and slide beads onto the yarn. Remove the yarn needle and make a slip knot on the hook. Slide one of the beads up close to the hook, then ch 75. Slide the other bead close to the hook, then ch 1. Fasten off. Happy Crocheting! 4

5 EASY PATTERNS FOR KIDS TO CROCHET SECTION 3 Jump Rope Materials: Your favorite variegated worsted weight acrylic yarn Crochet hook size H (5.00 mm) About 7 feet of 3/8" outside diameter clear vinyl tubing Two standard size (7 1/2" x 4.8 mm) cable ties 10 feet of 18 gauge or 20 gauge mechanic s wire Pliers You will need an adult to help you with part of this project. JUMP ROPE Designed by Priscilla Hewitt With the crochet hook and the yarn, crochet a 7 foot long chain. Fasten off the yarn, leaving a 6" yarn tail. Cut the clear tubing a little shorter than the chain. You hold one end of the tubing while an adult feeds the mechanic s wire through it until the wire comes out at the end near you. Have the adult bend a tiny circle in the end of the wire. Tie the yarn tail around the wire circle. Pull the other end of the wire back through the tubing, pulling the yarn through the tubing with the wire until it is all the way through. Cut the yarn off of the wire. Fold the ends of the jump rope to form two loop handles. Fasten the loop closed with a cable tie. 5

7 EASY PATTERNS FOR KIDS TO CROCHET SECTION 4 Little Tote Bag Materials: About 2 ounces of Red Heart Super Saver Starbrights yarn (or any color you like) Crochet hook size G (5.99 mm) Large yarn needle 4 large safety pins Tote Ch 21. Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across; ch 1, turn. (20 sc) LITTLE TOTE BAG Designed by Priscilla Hewitt Rows 2-49: Sc in each sc across; ch 1, turn. (15 sc) Row 50: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Handles Make 2: Ch 51. Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across; ch 1, turn. (20 sc) 7

8 Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Finishing: Thread the needle with 15" of yarn. Fold the large crocheted piece so that row 1 meets row 50. Sew together the ends of the rows to make a pocket shape. Weave in all ends. Attaching the handles: Place about 2" of the end of each handle on the bag as shown in the picture. Pin in place. Sew the four ends to the bags all the way around where the handles touch the bag. Weave in all ends Happy Crocheting! 8

9 EASY PATTERNS FOR KIDS TO CROCHET SECTION 5 Ring Toss Game Materials: Two of your favorite colors of worsted weight acrylic yarn Crochet hook size H (5.00 mm) About 7 feet of 3/8" outside diameter clear vinyl tubing Eight standard size (7 1/2" x 4.8 mm) cable ties Two feet of 18 gauge or 20 gauge mechanic s wire Pliers Two 2-liter soda bottles RING TOSS GAME Designed by Priscilla Hewitt You may need an adult to help you with parts of this project. With the crochet hook and the yarn, crochet four 20" long chains, two of each color. Fasten off the yarn, leaving a 6" yarn tail. Cut the clear tubing into four 20" pieces. You hold one end of the tubing while an adult feeds the mechanic s wire through it until the wire comes out at the end near you. Have the adult bend a tiny circle in the end of the wire. Tie one of the yarn tails around the wire circle. Pull the other end of the wire back through the tubing, pulling the yarn through the tubing with the wire until it is all the way through. Cut the yarn off of the wire. Shape the tubing into a 5 1/2" circle, with the ends overlapping about 5". Fasten the ends of the tubing to the circle with a cable tie on each end. Make 3 more of these circles. 9

11 EASY PATTERNS FOR KIDS TO CROCHET SECTION 6 Tube Bracelet Materials: A pretty color of worsted weight acrylic yarn Crochet hook size H (5.00 mm) About 12 inches of 3/8" outside diameter clear vinyl tubing One standard size (7 1/2" x 4.8 mm) cable tie 12 inches of 18 gauge or 20 gauge mechanic s wire Pliers TUBE BRACELET Designed by Priscilla Hewitt You will need an adult to help you with part of this project. Cut the plastic tubing so that it fits very loosely around your wrist. With the crochet hook and yarn, make a chain the same length as the tube. Have an adult feed the mechanic s wire through the tubing until the wire comes out the other end. Have the adult bend a tiny circle in the end of the wire. Tie one of the yarn tails around the wire circle. Pull the other end of the wire back through the tubing, pulling the yarn through the tubing with the wire until it is all the way through. Cut the yarn off of the wire. Overlap the ends of the tubing and fasten tightly with a cable tie. Happy Crocheting! 11
