(Gauge is not vital) made. Shell Motif- Make 7 In Yellow Rnd 1-Ch 2, work 6 sc in 2 nd ch from hook. Join with sl st in first sc made. Rnd 2- Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join and in each sc around. Join with sl st in first sc made. Rnd 3- Ch 1, sc in same st as join, (3 sc in next st, sc in next st) around. Join in Red with sl st in first sc Stitches Used- Sl st- Slip Stitch Sc- Single Crochet Hdc- Half Double Crochet Dc- Double Crochet Tr- Triple (treble) Crochet Special Stitches- Dc2tog- Double Crochet 2 together-* Yo, insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, repeat from * once, yo pull through remaining loops on hook. Dc3tog- Double Crochet 3 Together *Yo insert hook into next st, yo pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook repeat from * twice, yo, pull through remaining loops on hook. Rnd 4- Ch 1, Spike St (insert hook in space 3 rows down in first rnd of sc, yo, pull up a lp, yo pull through 2 remaining lps on hook), (sk next sc, 6 dc in next sc, sk next st, Spike St) ending with 6 dc in 2 nd to last st. Join Brown with sl st in first Spike st made. Rnd 5- Ch 3, 4 dc in Spike St, sk next 2 dc, sc in next 2 dc, (sk next 2 dc, 5 dc in Spike St, sk next 2 dc, sc in next 2 dc) around. Join with sl st in top of Beg Ch- 3. Rnd 6- Ch 1, sc in same st as join, sc in next st, (3 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts) around. Ending with sc in last 4 sts. Join with sl st in first sc made. Fasten off. Shell is made of 7 hexagon motifs, which are sewn together.

2 Sew Motifs together as shown in the picture: One in the center with the others surrounding corner to corner. Weave in all ends. Border- Join Brown with sl st on the outer top edge of any motif in the center st. (the number of sts on the edge is an even number so it doesn t matter which one you join in) Rnd 1- Ch 1, sc in same st as join, and in each st across to the corner sc (center sc of 3 sc in corner). * Sc in corner sc, hdc in next 3 sc, dc in next 3 sc, tr in next 4 sc, (2 of these sc will be the corner sc previously seamed together), dc in next 3 sc, hdc in next 3 sc, sc in corner sc and each sc across top edge of motif, repeat from * around. Join with sl st in first sc made. Rnd 2- Ch 1, scflo (front loop only) in each st around. Join with sl st in first sc made. Fasten Off. Bottom of Shell- With Pistachio (Green) and Right side of top of shell facing you, join with sl st in any Back Loop left from last round worked in Brown. Rnd 1- Ch 3, dc in next 11 lps, (dc2tog, dc in next 12 lps) around. Join with sl st in Rnd 2- Ch 3, dc in next 10 dc, (dc2tog, dc in next 11 dc) around. Join with sl st in Rnd 3- Ch 3, dc in next 9 dc, (dc2tog, dc in next 10 dc) around. Join with sl st in Rnd 4- Ch 3, dc in next 8 dc, (dc2tog, dc in next 9 dc) around. Join with sl st in Rnd 10- Ch 3, (dc2tog, dc in next dc) around. Join with sl st in Stuff shell. Rnd 11- Ch 1, (sc2tog) around. Join with sl st in first sc made. Fasten off leaving a long tail. Using a yarn needle weave tail through the tops

3 of all remaining sts of last rnd and pull taut. Weave in end. Head- With Pistachio (Green) Ch 4. (Ch-3 does not count as dc for the head) Rnd 1-12 dc in 4 th ch from hook. Join with sl st in Rnd 2- Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join and in each dc around. Join with sl st in first dc. Rnd 3- Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, dc in next dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) around. Join with sl st in Rnd 4- Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc) around. Join with sl st in Rnd 5- Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc) around. Join with sl st in Rnd 6-7- Ch 3, dc in same st as join and each dc around. Join with sl st in Rnd 8- Ch 3, dc2tog over same st as join and next dc, dc in next 3 dc, (dc2tog, dc in next 3 dc) around. Note: You may want to make all the pieces first before you sew them all on. Eyes- Make 2 With Black, Ch 2 Rnd 1-6 sc in 2 nd ch from hook. Join with sl st in first sc made. Rnd 2- Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. Join Brown with sl st in first sc made. Rnd 3- Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join, sc in next st, (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) 4 times. Join White before completing last st. Do not join. Row 4- Ch 1, sc in first sc, ( 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) across ending with a sc in last st. Row 5- Ch 1, sc in first sc, (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc) across ending with sc in last 2 sts. Row 6- Ch 1, sc in first and next sc, (2sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc) across ending with sc in last 2 sts. Next rows- Ch 1, sc2tog, sc across to last 2 sts, sc2tog. (Repeat this row until there are 4 sts left. Next Row- Ch 1, sc2tog twice.

4 Last row- Ch 1, sc2tog. Fasten off White Border and Eyelid- Join Pistachio (Green) with a sl st in the st of the last row. Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join, sc evenly along the row ends of the eye and in the sts left unworked in the pupil, all the way around, sc in same sp as first 2 sts. Join with sl st in first sc made. * Sl st in next st, work 15 scflo across the top of the eye. Fasten off leaving a long tail for Sewing. For Opposite eye work the same up to *. Work 15 scblo across the top of the eye. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew on eyes using the sc border and the unworked lps from the eyelids. Stuff Eyes before completely sewing on head. TIP- When sewing on the eyes, place one of them over the round joins to hide it! Back Fins- Each individual fin is made of 2 pieces single crocheted together. So you will need to make 4 each of the Back and Front Fins. Ch 3 counts as dc, so if it says dc in first dc that makes an increase. Make 4 With Pistachio (Green) Ch 11 Row 1- Dc in 4 th ch from hook and in each ch Rows 2-5- Ch 3, dc in first dc, dc in each dc across ending with 2dc in last dc. Rows 6-8- Ch 3, dc in next dc and in each dc Row 9- Ch 3. Dc2tog, dc in each dc Row 10- Ch 3, dc in next dc and each dc across to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Row 11- Ch 3, dc3tog, and dc in each dc across to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Row 12- Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in each dc across to last 3 sts, dc3tog. Row 13- Ch 3, dc3tog, dc in each dc across to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Row 14- Ch 3, dc2tog, dc3tog. Row 15- Ch 3, dc2tog. Fasten Off. Holding 2 fin pieces together so the sts line up in the same manner, join with green in the corner of the foundation chain. Working through both thicknesses work 2 sc in each dc row end to join pieces all the way around leaving the foundation chain unworked. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Lightly stuff fin and sew onto the back of the shell just under the ridge, closing up the foundation chain as you sew. Be sure that when you join the pieces together you start on the opposite side of the foundation chain corners so that the right side of the single crochet joining seam is facing.

5 Front Fins Ch 11 Row 1- Dc in 4 th ch from hook and in each ch Row 2- Ch 3, dc in next dc and in each dc Row 3-4- Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in each dc across to last 2 dc, dc2tog. Row 5-7- Ch 3, dc in next dc and in each dc Row 8- Ch 3, dc in first st, dc in next and in each dc across ending with 2 dc in last dc. Row 9- Ch 3, dc in next and each dc Row 10- Ch 3, 2 dc in first st, dc in next and each dc Row 11- Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in next and each dc across ending with 3 dc in last st. Row 12- Ch 3, 2 dc in first st, dc in next and each dc across to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Row 18- Ch 3, dc in next and each dc Row 19- Ch 3, dc in next and each dc across leaving last 3 sts unworked. Row 20- Ch 3, 3 dc in first st, dc in next and each dc Row 21- Repeat row 19 Row 22- Ch 3, dc in next and each dc Rows Repeat rows 19, 20, and 19 Rows Ch 3, dc2tog, dc in next and each dc across to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Fasten off. Follow the same instructions for joining the pieces as for the back fin, working single crochet into the unworked double crochet stitches, stuffing as you work. Sew front fins to the front of the body. Embroider a smile using black yarn and the spots on Squirts fins and head using the brown (or crochet some brown circles for spots and sew on) Row Repeat rows 11 and 12 Row 15- Ch 3, dc in next st and in each dc across ending with 3 dc in last dc.
