2 Materials Needed Terms 4.5 mm Crochet Hook 3.5 mm Crochet Hook Acrylic Yarn (Size 4) in 2 Colors (Suggested: Caron Simply Soft) Worsted Weight Yarn (Size 4) (Suggusted: Red Heart) White Worsted Weight Yarn Size 3 for the Balloon String 9 mm Black Plastic Safety Eyes 6mm Copper Wire Stuffing Embroidery Thread Yarn Needle Sc Single Crochet St Stitch Ch Chain Sl st Slip Stitch 2tog Decrease Stitch This pattern is done in Joined Rounds. This means that at the end of each Rnd, you must slip stitch and chain. The pattern can also be done in joined rounds, but results may vary slightly. If you don't know how to do joined rounds, there is a quick tutorial included on Page 9. There are three different animals to make: a bunny, panda bear, and kitten. 5 Body 4.5 mm Hook and Acrylic Yarn Color A Legs (Make 2) Rnd 1. Magic Ring 6. Sl st and ch Rnd 2. Sc, 2sc in next st (8) Sl st and ch Rnd 3. Sc 2, 2sc in next st (10) Sl st and ch Rnd 4-6. Sc 10, remember to sl st and ch after each round. Sl st, FO and weave end. Repeat Rnd 1-6 for the second leg, DO NOT cut tail when done Rnd 7. Ch 3, sc into a st of the first leg, then Sc around (~26) Rnd Sc ~26, sl st and ch after each round.

6 Rnd Chang to Color B and Sc ~26, remember to sl st and ch after each round. Rnd 12. Sc around, but 2tog on each side (~24) sl st and ch Rnd 13. Sc around (~24) sl st and ch Rnd 14. Sc around, but 2tog on each side (~22) sl st and ch Rnd 15. Sc around (~22) sl st and ch Rnd 16. Sc around, but 2tog on each side (~20) sl st and ch Rnd 17. Sc around (~20) sl st and FO, leave a long tail. Arms 4.5 mm Hook and Acrylic Yarn Color A (Make 2) Rnd 1. Magic Ring 6. Sl st and ch Rnd 2. Sc, 2sc in next st (8) Sl st and ch Rnd 3-5. Sc 8, sl st and chain at the end of each round. Rnd 6-7. Switch to Color B and Sc 8. Sl st and ch. Stuff firmly. Rnd 8. Sc, 2tog until close, FO and leave a long tail. Assembly 1. Stuff the body firmly 2. Sew the head to the body 3. Sew on the arms, positioning the arm that will be holding the balloon higher and attached to the side of the animal's head

7 Heart Balloon 4.5 mm Hook and Worsted Weighted Yarns, Wire The heart is done tin JOINED ROUNDS, do NOT sl st and chain Rnd 1. Magic Ring 5 Rnd 2. 2sc in each st (10) Rnd 3. Sc, 2sc in next st (15) Rnd 4. Sc 2, 2sc in next st (20) Rnd 5-6. Sc 20. Sl st and FO, and weave in tail. Repeat Rnd1-6 for second heart half, Do NOT cut after second half! Rnd 7. Holding both heart halves side by side, Sc through both halves for 4 stitches, then continue to Sc around one half then the next. There should be 34 sc total. Rnd The next few rounds are kind of freehand, but you need to 2tog four times for the next six rounds. The best way to do this is 2tog at the beginning of the rnd, the left side, in the front center, and the right side. When you are done, there should be about 10 sc left. Next we will be adding the wire. 1. Cut the wire about 10 inches, and a piece of yarn the same color about 8 inches 2. Push the wire through the arm that will be holding the balloon. Make sure it goes all the way through 3. Insert the other end of the wire through the heart, pushing through the top of the heart and leaving about a centimeter or two 4. Wrap the exposed wire in yarn, leaving two loose ends 5. With scissors, jewelry tools, or by hand, fold the wire into the heart securely 6. With a yarn needle, sew and tie the loose yarn ends into the heart 7. Stuff the heart lightly, make sure the wire can hold it 8. 2tog the bottom of the heart around the wire. Then leave a tail and sew around the wire until very tightly around it 9. Take a long piece (about arm's length) of the White Worsted Weight Size 3 yarn. Tie it to the wire, right under the heart balloon. Tightly wrap the yarn to cover the wire. 10. When reaching the animal arm, sew the yarn end through the animal arm, then continue wrapping the wire to the end. Don't cut the yarn

8 11. Loop the wire around the animal's arm then fold the wire into the arm securely. With the excess yarn, sew around the wire to help it maintain its place. Weave end into arm and cut. 12. You're all done!

9 Quick Joined Rounds Tutorial Joined rounds can seem scary to those who are just starting to crochet, but they are fairly simple and leave a more even look to your crochet items. Here's a quick tutorial that shows how to start animal hood in joined rounds! 1. Let's start off with Magic Ring 6 2. Put the hook through the first st, like you do when working in spiral rounds 3. Yarn over, and pull through BOTH LOOPS that are on the hook

10 4. Chain 1 5. Sc in the same St from step 3 6. That's it! Just remember at the end of a round be sure to Sl St into the beginning St of the round followed by a Ch and a Sc. Rnd 2 is 2sc in each St (12). The end of the round should look like this: Similar with spiral rounds, keep track of the number of Sc's you have in each round, but they are much easier to keep track of. Now you can continue on with the tutorial in joined rounds if you wish :)
