2 STITCH ABBREVIATIONS (American Terms) ch: chain st: stitch sl st: slip stitch small shell: (Hdc, ch 2, Hdc) in same space large shell: (2 Hdc, ch 2, 2 Hdc) in same space Hdc: half double crochet Dc: double crochet TOOLS & SUPPLIES - Size G Hook - 1 skein worsted weight yarn (med 4) in the color that you plan to use as the head and most of the body - Partial skein worsted weight yarn (med 4) in a corresponding color for inside ears and decorative edge - Yarn accents for embroidering eyes, nose, and mouth - 9-inch section of grosgrain ribbon to tie at neck upon completion - Poly Fiber-Fill stuffing, or stuffing of your choice for filling the head - Needle with large eye for sewing - knee high panty hose, optional EARS (Need 4 parts - two white and two in the corresponding rabbit color): Ch 17 - Hdc in second chain from hook, Hdc in each of the next 6 sts, Dc in each of the next 7 sts, Hdc in the next st, sc 4 in end st, then continue around to the other side of the chain...hdc in next st, Dc in each of the next 7 sts, Hdc in each of the next 7 sts, slip stitch to bind off (leave a long tail for sewing ears together later). See chart for clarification (Fig. 1) on last page of document HEAD (in your choice of rabbit head color): Round 1: Using the magic loop method, join 6 sc in the loop, draw tight, join with a slip st (6 sts) Note: If you do not know what the Magic Loop (or Magic Ring) Method is, you can either research online for a tutorial or skip using the method altogether and Instead ch 2, creating your 6 sc's in the second chain from the hook and joining with a slip stitch to complete Round 1 Round 2: ch 1, do 2 sc in each stitch around (12 sts)

Stuff firmly with fiber fill or desired stuffing, and put aside for finishing. Stuffing Pointer: Sometimes your crochet tension leaves less-than-desirable holes in the work where the white stuffing can sometimes show through. I often use a knee-high panty hose and place inside the section I want to stuff, then add the stuffing INSIDE the knee-high. Once stuffed to desired fill, just shove the remaining knee-high into the bunny head and then your stuffing stays intact plus looks less stark than the white filling showing through. Round 4: Ch 2, *skip next Hdc, work (Hdc, ch 2, Hdc) in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending with Hdc in base of beginning stitch, ch 2, join with sl st in top of ch2 beginning. Round 5: Sl st in ch 2 space, work (ch 2, Hdc, ch 2, 2 Hdc) in same ch 2 space, * work large shell in next ch 2 space, repeat from * around. Join. Round 6: Sl st in next st, ch 2, * work large shell in ch 2 space, Hdc in next Hdc, skip next 2 Hdc, Hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join. Repeat from * around, ending with skip 2 sts. Join, cut yarn. Final round: Using color B, work a large shell round. This is the only contrast color round that is large shell, creating a framework that will allow your blanket to lay flat, with sharp points. Weave in any remaining tails on blanket. Yarn Color Pointer: Using a darker color for your B rounds will result in contrast stripe and an edge that - if dragged by a little one - won't look so 'dirty.' Whites and lighter colors may show the wear more drastically.

5 FINISHING THE LOVEY - You will want to sew the ears together, 1 color side A with 1 color side B so that the inner ear is the B color...a on the outside will match the head and body better. Now stitch them on the desired location on the head. Also, using scrap yarn go ahead and embroider the face and sew the head to the center of the blanket top. - I weave in all ends that may remain in the head and ears, and tie a grosgrain ribbon to Lovey's neck.
