1 Sock Hop Suzie Premium Crochet Pattern by The Cheerful Chameleon LOVEY INTERMEDIATE MMM HOOK USED 4MM & 5MM YARN NEEDED WORSTED 4 Less than a full skein is used per color 1. Skirt Color 2. Skin tone color 3. Hair color 4. Black 4. White 5. Poodle body color (or can use white) This pattern can easily be substituted with any worsted weight OTHER MATERIALS 1. Stuffing 2. Scissors 3. Stitch Marker 4. Yarn Needle GAUGE IMPORTANCE LEVEL - M 10 SC across and 10 SC rows = 2 Gauge isn t really important for this project. You can substitute any hook and yarn to make any size. Just make sure to use a small enough hook to not leave gaps in yarn. WRITTEN IN US TERMS CH: Chain Sl St: Slip Stitch ST(S): Stitch(es) SC: Single Crochet SC2TOG: SC 2 STS together to decrease HDC: Half Double Crochet HDC2TOG: HDC 2 STS together to decrease. N N When starting with a chain, first row stitches will always be worked into the back bump of the chain unless otherwise noted. Chains are not counted into final row counts unless specified. If you wish to use safety eyes instead of yarn, they can be added prior to working the body of the doll. (30) CHANGE TO BLACK Rounds 33-34: SC into each ST around. (30) DOLL FO, and weave into ends. Stuff the body and remaining rows of head. DOLL BOTTOM With your skirt color yarn and 4mm hook. Round 1: 6 SC into a MC. (6) Round 3: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next ST] around. (18) Round 4: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next 2 STS] around. (24) Round 5: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next 3 STS] around. (30) FO leave long tail. CLOSING DOLL Thread the tail of the doll bottom onto your needle and line up to the bottom of the doll body with RS facing out. Using the tail, whip stitch around into each ST to close the 2 pieces. Leave the remaining tail to attach to the blanket later on. (5) FO, and leave long tail. Sew onto the head on each side of the nose along row 12. Using a small piece of white add a small stitch to each eye. Using a small piece of pink, red or black yarn, stitch on a mouth approx. 2-3 rows below nose. This can be a full smile or a half smile. Sock Hop Suzie M PAGE 2

3 With your hair color yarn & 5mm hook. Round 1: 6 SC into a MC. (6) Round 3: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next ST] around. (18) Round 4: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next 2 STS] around. (24) Round 5: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next 3 STS] around. (30) Round 6: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next 4 STS] around. (36) Round 7: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next 5 STS] around. (42) Round 8: [2 SC into next ST, SC into next 6 STS] around. (48) Rounds 9-15: SC into each ST around. (48) (figure 11) Do not FO, continue on to bangs. BANGS Round 16: CH 1 and TURN *chain does not count as a ST* SC into next 16 STS. (16) These stitches will be facing the WS. (figure 12) Round 17: Turn, CH 2, 2 DC into each of the next 16 STS. DC into the side of the CH 1 from the Start of row 16. (33 DC &1 CH 2) This will put you back at the hair cap. Do not fasten off or turn, and continue on placing the next ST into round 15 of the hair cap. Round 18: Working around the edge back to the start of row 17, SC into next 4 STS, HDC into next 2 STS, DC into next 3 STS, HDC into next ST, SC into next 12 STS, HDC into next ST, DC into next 3 STS, HDC into next 2 STS, SC into next 4 STS. DC into the 16th ST of round 16. Sl St into first DC to close. (64) (32 STS across bangs, and 32 STS around cap) (figures 13-16) Do not turn. Round 19: [SC2TOG] 16x (These are the DC increases across the bangs from row 17), Sl St into the next 32 STS (these are around cap) Sl St to first SC2TOG to close. (48) (16 SC2TOG, 32 Sl St) (figures 17-18) HAIR CAP FO, leave long tail. Position hair cap to the head so that the bangs go across the front and the back of the hair cap falls just above round 25 of the head. Thread yarn tail on your needle and secure cap to head by stitching around. (figure 19) RINGLETS With your hair color yarn and 4mm hook. Round 1: 6 SC into a MC, Sl St to first SC to close. (6) Round 2: [CH 30, 3 HDC into 2nd CH from hook, 3 HDC into next 28 CH, Sl St into next SC of round 1] 6x. (6 ringlets, 87 STS each) (figures 20-22) FO, and leave long tail. Attach securely to back of head. (figures 23-24) With your skirt color yarn and 4mm hook. CH 20 Row 1: Sl St into 2nd CH from hook, SC into next CH, HDC into next 2 CH, DC into next 5 CH, HDC into next CH, DC into next 5 CH, HDC into next 2 CH, SC into next CH, Sl St in last CH. (19) FO and weave in end. (figure 25) Thread a long piece of skirt color yarn, insert it through the center HDC and wrap it around the center of the piece over the center HDC several times. This will create the bow center. (figure 26) HAIR BOW Tie securely and using the remaining yarn, sew to the base of ringlets on top of the head. Rotate and continue along other side of the chain. SC into next CH, HDC into next CH, DC into next CH, HDC into next CH, Sl St into next 18 CH, SC into next CH, HDC into next CH, DC into next CH, HDC into next CH, SC into next CH, Sl St into first SC to close.(58) FO and leave long tail. 5 POODLE APPLIQUE BODY BASE : WORKED IN ONE PIECE. With your poodle body color yarn and 4mm hook. Row 1: 12 DC into a MC, Sl St into first DC to close. (12) (figure 38) Row 2: CH 2, DC into same ST, DC into next ST, Sl St into next 4 STS. (6) Turn. (figure 39) Row 3: CH 2, DC into next 3 STS. (3) Turn. (figure 40) Row 4: CH 2, 2 HDC into same ST, HDC into next ST, 2 HDC into next ST. (5) Turn. (figure 41) Row 5: CH 2, HDC into next 3 STS, HDC2TOG. CH 4. (figure 42) Working back towards body to make front leg. Place 3 HDC into 2nd CH from hook, Sl St into next 2 CH, Sl St into next HDC. (10) (figures 43-44) Row 6: HDC into next 2 STS, 2 HDC into next ST. Turn. (4) Row 7: CH 2, DC into same ST, DC into next ST, CH 4. Work back towards body to make back leg. Place 3 HDC into 2nd CH from hook, Sl St into next 2 CH, Sl St into next 2 STS. CH 4, Sl St into 2nd CH from hook, Work back towards body to make tail. Sl St into next 2 CH. Working towards the head, Sl St into next 4 STS. (16) FO and weave in ends. (figure 45) EAR With your poodle body color yarn and 4mm hook. CH 6 Row 1: Place 4 HDC into 3rd CH from hook, HDC into next 3 STS. (7) FO, leaving long tail. Sew to head. (figures 46-47) BODY PUFF CH 2 loosely or make a MC Round 1: Place 10 PUFF STS into the back bump of the 2nd CH from hook.*if using MC, try to keep the later STS the same tension as first few and pull as tight as you can without breaking yarn to close * Sl St to first PUFF ST to close. (10) (figure 48) FO, leaving long tail. Attach to poodle body with puff side facing up. (figure 49) EAR PUFF CH 2 Row 1: Place 3 PUFF STS into 2nd CH from hook. Sl St to first PUFF ST to close. (3) (figure 50) FO, leaving long tail. Attach to bottom of the ear with puff side facing up. (figure 51) BOW AND COLLAR With your skirt color yarn and needle. FOR BOW Thread needle with small scrap of skirt color. Place a stitch around top of ear and double knot. Clip close to leaving enough yarn on each side of knots to make the bow. (figures 52-53) FOR COLLAR Take a double strand of yarn and tie around the neck. Knot secure behind poodle. This will make the Collar.(figures 54-55) HEAD PUFF With WS facing you, attach white yarn with a Sl St to the top of the head. CH 2 and place a PUFF ST into each of the next 3 STS. (3) (figure 56) FO, and weave in end. (figure 57) LEG PUFFS With RS facing you, pull up white yarn in the right hand side of the stitch just above the foot in the leg. Secure with a Sl St, and place a PUFF ST into that same ST. Bring the hook over the leg, and Sl St into the left side of that stitch. *This will leave the puff stitch with the WS facing out on top of the leg.* (figures 58-59) FO, and take both of the tails and double knot them behind the leg. (figure 60) TAIL PUFF With WS facing you, attach white yarn with a Sl St to the top Sl St of the tail. [CH 1, PUFF St *with 5 yarn overs*, CH 1, Sl St] into same ST. (1) (figure 61) FO, and double knot tails behind to secure. (figure 62) FACE Using Black yarn, whip stitch a nose and eye on the poodle head using black yarn, whip stitch a nose and eye on the poodle head. (figure 63) Sew poodle to skirt just above the bottom edge using poodle body color yarn. Using black yarn, surface chain a leash starting at the collar. Weave in any remaining ends.
