2 Start Here... Sew your reversible crop dolly top with a: 1cm (3/8 ) seam allowance unless otherwise stated. i Read the pattern through to get a feel for the steps. If you prefer to sequence your sewing differently to me feel free to change around the order of the steps. ii iii Choose what size you ll make. Dolly measurements table is on page 3. Print your pattern. Page 6 (Grande), page 6 (Mezzo), page 7 (Milieu), page 7 (Piccolo), page 7 (Bambino). To print your pattern - print at actual size with scaling set to none. Then check the scale box. If it is correct you re good to go. If it is not correct you may need to play with your Auto rotate and centre, scale, fi t or select by fi le size options. 3 dolly top AFP-1605 confident beginner Fabrics Medium to lightweight quilting or cotton fabrics and washable blends. Fabric Requirements 13cm (5 ) x 38cm (15 ) of main and contrast fabric. Notions & Tools Sewing machine, scissors, sewing machine thread, tape measure or ruler, fabric pen/pencil, pins, ironing board & iron. For the ribbon shoulders: Two - 6mm (1/4 ) wide ribbon x 20cm (8 ) For the back loops: Two - 3mm (1/8 ) wide x 5cm (2 ) long pieces of ribbon OR Two - 5cm (2 ) long pieces of hat elastic. For the back closure: hook/loop tape (velcro) approx 2.5cm (1 ) x 0.6cm (1/4 ) Optional Overlocker, Rotary cutter & mat, fray-stop. dolly MEASUREMENTS TABLE (More info on dolly sizing can be found in this blog post - ) SIZE GRANDE - child shaped doll. 4 1 Sew your reversible crop dolly top with a: 1cm (3/8 ) seam allowance unless otherwise stated. prepare the pieces... A. Iron 1cm (3/8 ) to the wrong side along the centre back and at shoulders as per markings on the pattern piece. TIP: To check fit try on your dolly before step 1b. If necessary trim extra width from centre back and then iron 1cm (3/8 ) to the wrong side of the new centre back. b. Fold the skinnier ribbon (that will form the back loops) in half and align the raw edges of the ribbon with the raw top edge of the bodice. Baste to the right side of one of the pieces as per markings on the pattern piece (ie 1cm 3/8 from centre back fold). 2 sew the pieces together... A. Place your two pieces with right sides together. You can pin them together if you would like along the bottom and along the top of the bodice. b. Sew along the top of the bodice leaving openings at the top of the shoulders. Also sew along the bottom of the piece. The top of the shoulders and the centre back will be left open. c. Clip the curves and then trim the seam allowance back to 3mm (1/8 ). 5 d. Turn out the right way and iron fl at. e. Insert your ribbon into the gaps at the top of the shoulders. OPTIONAL: Use fray-stop to seal the ends of the ribbon. f. Topstitch around the whole top, thereby closing the gaps you left in the centre back and at the top of the shoulders in step 2b. 3 complete your top... A. Separate your piece of hook/loop tape (velco). b. Sew one piece to the centre back on one side. c. Sew the second piece to the centre back on the opposite side. d. Place your top on your dolly. Thread the ribbon through the back loops and tie into a bow. See top right of page 3 for how this will look. Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns 5
